It was almost impossible for him to know where he was. The last thing he could remember was having a fist fight in a park with a man in military uniform. After that, he knew that Lu Xinyi had managed to get away from him once again. Gong Yijun hissed as he felt a stinging pain on his abdomen. Where could he possibly be? And why were these people keeping him at this place?

He tried to open his eyes, but all he could see was darkness and a streak of light from the outside of the window. His swollen right eye had made it harder for him. His hands were tied tightly behind his back while his back met the coldness of the concrete wall behind him.

What happened? How did he end up here? Was this one of Lu Xinyi’s wicked plan to get even with him? When did she get such dangerous connections?

“Look, he’s finally awake!” Someone said with glee from the other side of the room. Gong Yijun struggled to break free from his confinements but failed. He could never leave this place in one piece.

“Yuren, I still don’t understand why you dragged this man here? I mean he couldn’t even put a good fight against you.” Long Feng stepped inside the room and passed the bag of burgers he brought earlier.

Li Yuren didn’t even cast a glance on his subordinate; he just took a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. The burning smell and the smoke coming from his cigarette filled the room they were in.

“Where am I? What do you want from me?!” Gong Yijun cried in panic. He struggled to free himself, but the rope on his wrist tightened, limiting his movements. There were at least seven people inside the huge room. Were they a part of a gang or something?

Long Feng snorted. He found Gong Yijun so boring. He couldn’t even match his boss. Was this really Lu Xinyi’s ex-boyfriend? What did she even see in a loser like him? In terms of status, looks, and strength, Gong Yijun was below Li Yuren and Lu Xinyi’s husband, Shen Yi.

Speaking of the devil, he hadn’t seen Shen Yi for years. It had been years since their team had crossed path with Shen Yi’s.

Li Yuren gave Gong Yijun a look before shaking his head. Gong Yijun trembled under his gaze and curled in his seat. Li Yuren continued puffing up cigarette smoke as he considered Gong Yijun’s question.

“You are asking the wrong person. I am not the one who wants your head,” he finally said.

“What do you mean?” Gong Yijun queried. If this man hadn’t anything against him, why was he holding him here against his will?

“You still don’t get it, do you? Are you really this stupid, or today’s a special occasion?” Li Yuren cackled.

After Gong Yijun assaulted Lu Xinyi, did he really think that Shen Yi wouldn’t do something to get his revenge? Ah, but still, even if Lu Xinyi had chosen Li Yuren as her husband, Gong Yijun’s fate had already been set. Shen Yi was the kind of man who gets even to those who offended him. No one should hurt what was his.

Long Feng opened his mouth to say something before he stopped midway as he realized something. Li Yuren had purposely taken Gong Yijun in his care to get someone’s attention. There were still times that he couldn’t understand his boss, but he knew that there was always a reason behind Li Yuren’s actions. One of their men knocked at the door to get their attention.

“Boss, someone wants to see you.”

Li Yuren nodded. “It’s about time he shows himself. Let him in.”

With a quick excuse, the man hurriedly left and escorted their unexpected visitor.

“Yuren,”—Long Feng stood beside his boss—”what’s going on?”

“You will see.”

A few moments later, Li Yuren’s subordinate came back with a group of men behind him. Two of them were very familiar to Gong Yijun, much to his horror. How could he forget Shen Yi and Qiao He’s faces when they tortured him?

Qiao He smiled menacingly when his eyes fell into Gong Yijun’s battered form.

“Ah. You know, I will never get tired of teaching you a lesson. Here I thought you had learned and took our warning seriously.” Qiao He feigned his disappointment in Gong Yijun’s stupidity. “Take him.” He ordered the other men behind him.

“Wait!” Long Feng complained. Why were they taking Gong Yijun from them? Why was Shen Yi in here?

Li Yuren lifted a hand and stopped Long Feng. “Let them take him. After all, this man had offended Mr. Shen’s wife.”

Gong Yijun panicked and tried to get away as the men lifted him up from the floor.

“No! Don’t give me to them! I did nothing wrong to you.” He pleaded Li Yuren and cowered in fear.

“You should have thought of that when you decided to lift a hand and hurt Lu Xinyi.” Li Yuren laughed as if finding Gong Yijun’s situation entertaining.

“Do you really think hurting Shen Yi’s wife will not bring you any harm?” Qiao He asked.

“S-Shen Yi?” Gong Yijun gaped at the revelation. He hadn’t known that his ex-girlfriend had managed to marry one of the most dangerous bachelors within the city. There were several rumors circulating about President Shen, and that included him marrying a secret lover recently.

Was it Lu Xinyi? Was this the reason why she was already untouchable and out of his reach?

He took everything he got and stared at Shen Yi’s face. Now, everything made sense to him. He felt his knees tremble as if going to give up to support his weight. If Shen Yi’s men weren’t holding him uptight, he would have fallen into the floor.
