Qiao He’s men had taken Gong Yijun into their custody, but before Shen Yi could leave Li Yuren’s lair, he was stopped by Li Yuren’s voice.

“Still predictable as ever.” Li Yuren commented without looking at Shen Yi. “I knew you will come after him as soon as Lu Xinyi came running back to you.”

“You purposely used him as bait? This is so unlikely of you.” Shen Yi answered back. He kept silent throughout the conversation earlier, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t paying attention. The moment Qiao He informed him that Gong Yijun was in Li Yuren’s custody, he knew that the Young Master of the Li family had to say something to him.

Li Yuren chuckled and crushed the end of cigarette at his ashtray to extinguish it. “How long has it been? Eight years?”

Shen Yi didn’t reply and merely stared back at him which was something Li Yuren had expected. After a long silence, Shen Yi spoke.

“Then what do you need from me?” he inquired.

Li Yuren shrugged his shoulders and gave Shen Yi a frosty look.

“Nothing. I just want to see the man my fiancee chose over me.”

“Lu Xinyi wasn’t yours in the first place. You’ve lost your chance when you failed to make her agree to marry you. I beat you fair and square.” Shen Yi retorted.

“Really?” Li Yuren studied him.

“Why would Lu Xinyi choose to marry the faceless fiance she’d never met.”

“So you do know she was my fiancee before marrying her.”

Another silence ensued. Both Qiao He and Long Feng were curious as to why Shen Yi and Li Yuren were fighting over a married woman. Whatelse Li Yuren could take when Lu Xinyi had already married Shen Yi?

“President Shen, don’t you think we should stop meeting this way? This is the third time we meet each other because of a woman.”

The corner of Shen Yi’s mouth twitched. “When did I give you an idea that I wanted to meet you?”

Li Yuren raised his chin and laughed. There was something that couldn’t be changed over the years.

“Stay away from Lu Xinyi,” Shen Yi warned.

“What are the odds, President Shen? My sister left you, and now, you have taken my fiancee away from me.”

“Again, Lu Xinyi was never yours.” Shen Yi repeated before turning around, leaving the place with Qiao He following behind him.

Gong Yijun felt like digging a hole for himself. If only he had known that Lu Xinyi’s husband was one of the most powerful businessmen within the country. Minutes later, he found himself being shoved inside the backseat of a limo waiting outside. One of Shen Yi’s men held him in place just in case he decided to lunge at the other person within the car. His eyes turned as wide as saucers when he saw the woman that he’d been with for several years.

There was coldness in Lu Xinyi’s eyes as she regarded Gong Yijun. She sat elegantly in the corner, waiting for her husband to come back. With his dirty clothes and messy hair, Gong Yijun suddenly felt conscious about his appearance. The Lu Xinyi in front of him was very different from the Lu Xinyi he knew.

The way she talked, looked, and dressed were seemingly enthralling. She looked so much better compared to the woman he was dating before. Now, she looked like a pampered wife that President Shen was devoted to. He sneered inwardly as Lu Xinyi stared at him. Of course, she would look good. After all, she managed to seduce Shen Yi.

“So this is why you refused to get back with me. You managed to convince President Shen to make you his woman.”

“Who am I with and what I do with my life have nothing to do with you,” Lu Xinyi replied impassively. She didn’t need to explain herself to this man.

“Don’t forget we’ve been together for years—”

“Yeah, sure. Right”—Lu Xinyi cut him off—”but you were the one who threw everything when you chose to stuff your dick in my bestfriend.”

“What? Because I’m not as good as your new boy toy? Is that why you won’t get back with me?” Gong Yijun snapped at her. If his hands weren’t tied tightly, he would have strangled Lu Xinyi to death. He didn’t care if Shen Yi would kill him later as long as he could drag this woman down the hell with him.

“You really dare to compare yourself to Shen Yi?” Lu Xinyi asked in disbelief. “Compared to him, you are nothing!”

“You little slut! You don’t mind spreading yourself for another man, but when I did the same thing, you leave me behind?” Gong Yijun roared at her, but Shen Yi’s man easily kept him in place to protect his mistress.
