"I'm back." Xi Xue casually greeted as he entered the cave. On his right hand was a carcass of a chicken-like beast.

"Ah? Welcome back..." Bng Huo subconsciously replied but seconds after, she realized the conversation was like a newlyweds couple.

Her cheek instantly flushed red like a tomato but the darkness in the cave hide it well. Only the fire camp in front of her illuminated her face, brightening her face.

"Here, you cook this. I can't cook." Xi Xue handed over the chicken-like beast carcass without head to Bng Huo. The man then sat down while wiping his mouth with the back of his palm.

'Can't let her see the blood.'

"Mn" Bng Huo frowned and took the chicken carcass only to see it was in a bloodied state. She checked the carcass and saw it didn't have a head.

"You killed this?" Bng Huo glanced at Xi Xue. Under the faint fire camp light, his brown eyes somehow looked a bit bright and the colour...was red?

"What? Yeah, I also took out the blood so you don't have to clean it." Xi Xue shrugged. "Don't ask me how I do that though."

Bng Huo looked back at the chicken and indeed, it was already 'dry' without even a drop of blood left.

But there was a lot of technique to suck beast blood out since beast blood usually could be used as potion or medicine.

"I see. Well, I'll cook this then." Bng Huo casually ignored the bad state of the chicken. "Do you like it roasted or-"

"Anything is fine. As long as you put seasoning." Xi Xue hurriedly replied, "You have herbs as a seasoning, no?"

He had been used to eat delicious food at the higher realm so if he ate something bland...he might as well drink more blood.

'Blood is already enough but any kind of good food is a delicacy.' Xi Xue rubbed his palms.

"I carry a few herbs for cooking." Bng Huo took of the herbs out of her spatial ring. She did it with a straight face, not knowing that Xi Xue eyes widened, staring at her.

'She also has a spatial ring? Isn't that expensive in the lower realm?'

Xi Xue squinted. He suddenly scanned the girl from her head to toe and noticed she was wearing high-quality clothes.

The clothes got several buffs such as speed, durability and attack boost.

Just looking at this, one could see the girl should come from a rich family.

Propping his chin, Xi Xue suddenly asked, "So...why you come to the forest in the first place?"

Bng Huo was cutting up the chicken using the knife she brought when Xi Xue asked this. Her hand stopped moving for a second before it resumed.

"As I told you before, my grandfather wants me to prove myself." She glanced at her normal-sized owl standing near her and smiled.

"What about you?" she asked back.

Xi Xue was taken aback for a second. The man gulped and finally answered in a murmur, "I...come to find a place to sleep."

"What??" Bng Huo's knife slipped from her hand and fell to the ground. Thankfully it didn't harm anymore.

"You...you come to this forest just to sleep then?" Bng Huo looked at Xi Xue with her lips twitching.

Even though this forest was small, it was still dangerous for anyone to sleep a night yet this man...he purposely came here to sleep?!

"Yeah. Because the inns are all fully booked so" Xi Xue touched his nose. "I don't have any choice."

Bng Huo's eyes dimmed. The girl's face turned solemn. "If you told me before that you don't have a place to sleep, I can help you!"

Now it's too late, they had to sleep here.

"Mn, I'll ask you next time." Xi Xue laughed seeing Bng Huo pouted.

'This girl really wants to help me that much, huh?' A smile bloomed on Xi Xue's face.

"So, are you here for Dong Xi academy entrance exam?" Bng Huo suddenly asked again. "Is that why you are looking for an inn?"

"Well, yeah. I want to apply tomorrow," Xi Xue replied. "So I have to sleep near the academy, right?"

Bng Huo paused a bit and averted her eyes from the guy. She looked at the chicken she was roasting and went silent for a few seconds before suddenly spoke,

"You see...I'm a student there." The girl tucked her hair behind her ear.

"Ah?" Xi Xue almost bit his tongue. He stared eye-widened at Bng Huo.

This pipsqueak is a student there? What a coincidence!

"Ohh that's good! Then if Im accepted, I'll go find you." Xi Xue grinned. "Should I call you senior sis- brother from now on?"

Xi Xue silently patted his chest as he almost called Bng Huo 'sister'. Then the girl would know he discovered her real gender.

That would be bad.

"What senior brother ah. Aren't you older than me?" Bng Huo suddenly giggled. She took the chicken skewer she had roasted and walked over to Xi Xue place.

"Here, still hot so be careful." The girl took Xi Xue's hand and made him grabbed the skewer.

"Ah, thanks." Xi Xue glanced at the girl's hand holding his hand and silently cursed.

'Why is this girl so casual? She doesn't have any awareness ah??'

Xi Xue gripped the skewer tight and brushed away Bng Huo's hand. "You better eat too."

The man immediately munched the chicken skewer while avoiding Bng Huo's eyes.

'That was close. If she was like that for a bit longer'

Xi Xue's little fangs slowly popped out and his eyes turned red for a second.
