"We need him so you can't do that, honey." She calmly said.

"We need him?" He repeated, the iciness in his voice could be felt even to her side.

Despite the change in Lu Yifeng's voice, Xia Meilin was undisturbed by it. She trusted him and she knew that he won't do anything to Feng Ning because if he did, he wouldn't have called her in the first place. "Yes. He's willing to be our eyes against her."

"How sure are you that he's telling the truth?"

"It's because I know that he won't betray the Xia family. Yifeng, it's okay that you don't trust him because you'll certainly come up with some plan against him if he really betrays us. I won't force you to trust him but as for me... He's my childhood friend, so I will trust him."

Lu Yifeng became quiet for a while and because of this Xia Meilin became worried. "I love you." She said to reassure him that she doesn't have any romantic feelings for Feng Ning anymore.

She heard a sigh from the other line. "Mm... I love you too."

Xia Meilin's eyes softened as a loving smile appeared on her lips. "If you can't trust others then you can trust me... I will never betray you, Yifeng."

Ren Shiyuan turned to Xia Meilin and saw the gentleness on her face.

She will never betray him? Was she really that deeply in love with Lu Yifeng?

Whenever it comes to Feng Ning, Lu Yifeng couldn't help but feel insecure about it since he knows how much Xia Meilin loves the other man, she was even willing to take her own life for him in their past life. "Dada? Is that momma?" A kid's voice was suddenly heard.

To see her, Lu Yifeng decided to turn the call into a video call.

Xia Meilin saw Little Melon and Lu Yifeng's faces on the screen.

"Momma!" Little Melon's face beamed in delight when he saw his mother.

"Hi, baby~" Xia Meilin grinned.

Lu Yifeng noticed that she was inside a car that's why he couldn't help but ask, "You're outside?"

"Yup. I'm on my way to buy something." She smiled.

"Mello missed you a lot, momma!"

"It's good and fun! We will have our Christmas party on Friday! Mello's really excited to give Xiao Yao my gift!" Little Melon grinned happily.

"I bet she will love it a lot when she sees the music box." She chuckled softly. "Always listen to your daddy, okay? Don't bully him."

"Mm!" Little Melon nodded cutely. "Mello will not be bullying dada!"

Lu Yifeng raised a brow in amusement. Did he hear it right? Little Melon, bullying him? He chuckled a bit at this.

"Momma, how is Xiao Xing and Xiao Chun? Are they doing well?"

"Why yes, they are doing well. They love to sleep and eat." She chuckled softly.

Ren Shiyuan couldn't help but feel guilty when he saw Xia Meilin happily talking to her family. He was feeling guilty because of the thought that he was trying to break this happy family.

It was pointless to make Xia Meilin fall for him because... now that he's looking at it, it seemed impossible. Nian Jiezhen was right; Lu Yifeng and Xia Meilin were deeply in love with each other, it will be hard to break them especially with the level of trust they have with each other.
