Chapter 1877: His Boss Was Not Good Enough for Her

Meng Jue turned to ask Huo Yao hurriedly, "Oh yes. The shareholders' meeting is taking place in a couple of days. Do you want to..."

Huo Yao could feel her temples throbbing as though some kind of trouble was knocking on her door. Before Meng Jue could finish his sentence, she rejected him. "Thanks, but I'm not going."

Meng Jue, "…"

"Are you done looking at the robot? Once you're done, just leave and stop delaying the shipping." Saying this, Huo Yao told Zhuo Yun to repack the robot. 

Meng Jue went speechless. 

No, wait. Had he even answered her yet?

Before long, Huo Yao and Meng Jue parted ways at the parking lot. 

After getting into the car, Zhuo Yun, driving in front finally asked, "Was that guy from DO Corporation?"

From the moment he saw Meng Jue, he had a feeling he was very familiar but he was not entirely sure. 

"Uh huh." Huo Yao nodded. She seemed unsurprised that Zhuo Yun could recognize him. 

After all, DO Corporation was one of the best in the tech industry. Lots of countries used them for security and surveillance at the state security level.

Zhuo Yun slumped into deep thought hearing Huo Yao's response. 

Two years ago, Zhuo Yun suspected Huo Yao knew someone from DO Corporation when she used the company's security and surveillance system at home. Back at the airport shipping counter, he overheard them talking about a shareholders' meeting. 

Without high status in the company, she would not be involved in the shareholders' meeting. Even though the man did not finish his sentence, Zhuo Yun knew how such things worked. 

After learning about Huo Yao's involvement in DO Corporation, something suddenly struck Zhuo Yun. 

His boss was not good enough for her!

Huo Yao did not know what Zhuo Yun was thinking. Since it was boring in the car, she took out her phone to play. 

By the time they got back to the Huo estate, an hour had already passed. 

Huo Wanying was also in the living room chatting with Huo Jinfeng. 

"Yaoyao, you're back."

After spending some time recuperating, Huo Jinfeng's injury was doing well. He looked very energetic now. 

He pointed beside him and gestured for his niece to take a seat. 

Huo Yao nodded and walked over. 

Huo Wanying kept looking at Huo Yao. They were cousins, but she had complicated feelings about Huo Yao. 

She did not dislike Huo Yao entirely, but she also had trouble liking her. 

Perhaps Huo Yao was able to get everyone's approval without doing much, so she felt a little bothered by it. 

Huo Wanying was not entirely sure either, but she could not be bothered thinking anymore. After all, she was very brilliant herself, so there was no need for her to compare herself with Huo Yao. 

Huo Wanying gathered her thoughts, stood up, and bowed to Huo Yao. Then, she straightened her back and said, "Sorry. Allow me to apologize on my mother's behalf for her actions. We will move out of the estate. This will never happen again."

Huo Yao looked surprised. She did not expect Huo Wanying to suddenly apologize. After pausing for a couple of seconds, she said, "No need to apologize. I wasn't the one who got hurt."

Huo Wanying looked at Huo Yao. If anyone else were put in the same position, these words probably had an underlying meaning. Judging from the calmness in Huo Yao's eyes, she had no intention of picking a fight. 

Seeing this, Huo Wanying suddenly laughed. She had an inkling of the reason she was unable to bring herself to dislike Huo Yao. 

Proud people usually could not be bothered speaking ambiguously. 

"Thank you," replied Huo Wanying.

Huo Jinfeng heaved a sigh of relief when he noticed that they did not get into a fight. He waved his hand at Huo Wanying. "Sometimes, it can't be helped, so just forget it."

Huo Wanying lowered her eyes to conceal the self-deprecation in her eyes. 

She naturally knew what her mother had done. 

She did not stop her mother for selfish reasons. 

She was not interested in becoming the heir, but she certainly had no intention of passing up the position to someone with zero abilities. 

If the candidate was unable to survive a minor assassination, then Huo Yao would eventually come to no good end. 

However, she should have been more gracious about the whole thing. 

Huo Wanying did not stay for long. After she was gone, Huo Jinfeng looked at her niece indignantly. 

He acted as though she had done him some major injustice. 

Huo Yao was still a little lost about her uncle's unexpected change in attitude. "… Eldest Uncle?"
