Chapter 477 “Heartless Man (p1)”

In the early morning of this vast ancient forest, only the occasional howling sounds of the wild life could be heard currently, leaving the soldiers and mercenaries free to slumber away within their tents with only the occasional scouts on the lookout.

However, this calm serenity wasn’t always the case here. These men may be seasoned and brave fighters in their own rights, but not even they would dare venture so deep into the unknown less they had absolute assurance of their safety.

Naturally this achievement would have to be credited to the second son of the Kai Jiang Manor who inherited the powers of the Beastial Sect.

“The second young master sure is amazing. After he completely inherits the power of the Beastial Sect then no one can compete with the Kai Jiang Manor’s status anymore.” Two of the scouts were busy discussing the future like there’s nothing better to do.

“Isn’t that right? Looking back at it, our Kai Jiang Manor really is soaring in recent years. Let’s not mention the first son of the Lord whose been taken in as a disciple of a powerful sect, now the second son is also going to claim the mighty power of a long-lost sect. If we add in the Lord’s status within the Court right now too, I say it’s even greater than the Phoenix Lord who faced such an untimely death.”

“You are talking about the former Phoenix Lord, right? Shame though, such a heroic figure and recognized war god would give birth to such a frail and weak son. The Phoenix Manor may be rich, but if they can’t get an heir going then its all for nothing.”

Unbeknownst to these two scouts though, while they were gossiping around and ignoring their duties, something else was happening not far away from their camp site. It was a fluffy little creature currently lying on a branch. Surrounded by animals small to big, this fluffball clearly was the boss around here in light of there being no shortages of ferocious beasts down on the ground.

Obviously this was none other than little Little Squeak, the troublemaker among Ling Yue’s group. As an ancient primal beast, his very existence alone meant he was superior to any ninth ranked spirit beast or even the sacred beasts out there too!

“Squeak (what’s so great about the Beastial Sect’s inheritance, it’s nothing but trash while in my presence)” Just like a grand marshal of an entire army, Little Squeak issues out a snort like a cocky brat while ordering these creatures of inferior bloodline.

There’s not much to this meeting really, only the occasional questions and command of seeking out any strange occurrences within the jungle or forbidden grounds. And likely at the same time as well, Little Crow also gathered a flock of birds to her side to give similar orders.

Of course, Ling Yue and her party wouldn’t just stand idle either while time was of the essence. They too began their own search for the secret location of the ruins left behind by the Beastial Sect. Unfortunately, the clues they had to go on were very little, only that it’s a cave according to A’bone’s memory, thus making it extremely difficult to find in this vast jungle that’s comparable to the entire Northwestern Plains.

Chapter 477 “Heartless Man (p2)”

“We can’t continue like this, there’s not much time left at this rate. We must think of another idea to locate the ruins.” After coming up fruitless for a full day, Ling Yue has determined it’s not possible to continue like this and that they require a different method.

As the old saying goes, if searching doesn’t work then it’s time to stalk the prey. They know that the man still hasn’t fully mastered the inheritance since it’s so recent, that means it’s just a matter of time before he returns to the site.

Going by that logic, Ling Yue and A’bone immediately ingested an invisibility pill to quietly sneak into the enemy’s campsite.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t difficult at all to locate this second young master of the Kai Jiang Manor because the two powerful alchemists within the base was like a shining beacon telling everyone where they were heading to.

“It’s there!” Without a moment to waste, the girls swiftly tagged along from the back where they were soon led to a tent within the innermost part of the area. And there, A’bone could finally see a familiar figure whom she’s missed so dearly.

“Bastard, how dare he treat Purple like this.” Ready to spew fire from her eyes, the wild girl wanted to rip the one responsible for chaining the giant elephant up like a dog.

Towards A’bone, every single wild beast within the ancient forest was akin to being her friend and family, but for Chen Minzhi – the second son of Lord Kai Jiang – they are nothing but slaves to be used.

Such a person doesn’t deserve to inherit the Beastial Sect’s power!

Unable to hold back her urge anymore, she promptly snuck over to her friend’s side where the behemoth seems to have noticed her presence at first glance. Make no mistake though, Ling Yue and the wild girl was still hidden underneath the effects of the invisibility pill, but as an animal, Purple’s senses are naturally much keener than that of a human.

And as a sign of its own bias towards A’bone, the elephant actually used its trunk to rub against the girl’s cheek in light of not being in control of its body.

“Purple, don’t worry, I will definitely think of a way to save you and the rest of the other friends out.” As much as the pair would like to continue their reunion, they could only cut it short due to the incoming footsteps.

Very soon, two alchemists and a young nobleman had walked out of the nearest tent, giving Ling Yue an ample look at this supposed second son of Lord Kai Jiang, also known as Chen Minzhi by his name.

Unlike his brother and sister though who she met at the Tai Yi School though, this boy had more of a scholarly appearance instead of someone from a military family. Now it made sense to Ling Yue why her friend here would fall heads over heels over the lad, any young maiden would against that handsome face.
