“Here.” Shen Yi pushed a plate of two slices of sandwich for Lu Xinyi on the dining table.

Lu Xinyi stood up from the floor and stopped playing with her new fur babies. She quickly washed her hand in the sink before joining her husband in the table. Her stomach grumbled as she looked at the delicious sandwich he prepared for her.

She silently dug in and savor the food that was served for her. Maybe she was really hungry that it made the sandwich more enjoyable and delicious as she ate.

Watching his wife enjoy the food he prepared, Shen Yi’s eyes softened, and he smiled in satisfaction.

“If you don’t mind me asking, why are you living alone with these dogs?” Lu Xinyi asked as she munched on her food. “I thought you’re living in a penthouse or something.”

Since he wasn’t hungry, Shen Yi just accompanied her while she ate. His hand cupped his chin and leaned on the table.

“Why? Do you want to live in a penthouse?” he asked.

She shook her head. She really didn’t care if he chose a house or a penthouse.

“No. Just thinking that you like your privacy, so I thought you’d live in a penthouse…”

“Just like the rest?” he finished for her.

“Hmm…”

Shen Yi gave a glance to his two dogs who were wagging their tails at their new owner.

“If we move to a penthouse, your fur babies are not allowed to come with us.”

“What?! No way! I will not give up my babies. Please, Shen Yi, let’s stay here, alright? Don’t you dare change your mind and move to a penthouse.” Lu Xinyi pleaded like a kid.

Shen Yi laughed.

“Whatever my wife wishes, she will get.”

“Deal!” she made a thumbs-up on his direction.

After finishing her food, she was drinking her fruit juice when Mallows, one of the dogs, nudged her. She made a mess on herself when the juice poured right through her chest.

“Oh, no.” Lu Xinyi wiped her dress with paper towels, but the stain had already ruined her clothes. She was feeling lazy tonight and didn’t want to unpack her luggage. She frowned. What should she do now?

“Do you need some help?”

Thinking about it, she could just ask Shen Yi for a spare shirt that she could use as a sleeping wear for tonight.

“Yeah, you think you can lend me a shirt or something I could wear?”

He raised a brow. “Didn’t you bring all your clothes with you when you left his place?”

She looked away and coughed on her hand.

“Not really. I only took the important documents and things. I didn’t want to stay for too long.”

Shen Yi nodded in understanding. If Lu Xinyi stayed on that place for too long, her ex might have done something to her. He stood up from his chair and left his wife in the kitchen with the dogs.

While waiting for her husband to return, Lu Xinyi took the dishes and washed them in the sink. She also made sure that her dogs had enough clean water in their bowls just in case they got thirsty in the middle of the night.

When she turned around, she saw Shen Yi leaning against the doorway, watching her.

“Here,” he lifted a hand and offered a clean white shirt to her.

Lu Xinyi took the shirt and checked the size of it. It seemed like one of his shirts based on the size and the faint scent coming from it.

“Thanks.”

“Feel my T-shirt. Do you think it’s made of husband material?” Shen Yi’s lips curled into a smirk.

“You!” Lu Xinyi slapped his arm. “You’re hopeless! I don’t know what to do with you anymore!”

“You can always kiss me to make me shut up,” he suggested.

“Ha! As if I will fall for that! You will just take advantage of it so you can get more kisses!”

“Touche.”

“Shen Yi, you idiot!” she hissed and covered her face with his shirt.

“But this idiot is your husband. No backing out,” he scoffed.

Lu Xinyi then realized that she was on a rollercoaster ride being married to him. He was getting good at his teasing and flirting with her.

“But Xinyi, don’t you think you’re forgetting something?” Shen Yi asked on a serious tone.

Removing the shirt from her face, Lu Xinyi gave him a questioning look.

“What do you mean?”

“The day is ending, and today’s still our wedding day. Aren’t you going to give me my wedding kiss?” Shen Yi stepped closer, which pushed her to lean against the door. His arm came up to casually rest above her head. His eyes perused her.

Her lips parted, trying to say something but failed. Her words stayed on her throat.

He chuckled. “Won’t you grace me with just one kiss, wifey?”

He saw her swallowed. Still couldn’t say anything. Was she afraid of him? He hoped not.

Lu Xinyi stood before him with wide eyes. Her pulse was fast, and her cheeks burned red. Making up her mind, she swallowed her doubts and stepped up to him. Shen Yi stood still waiting for her to act.

She laid a hand on his shoulder and tiptoed up to give him another peck. This time, right on his lips. Her blush intensified when she parted from him.
