Chapter 276 – Mystery of the True Ancestor

While unleashing his sharp slash attacks at the true ancestor, Eric said,

“Are you finished talking, Locke?”

“Aye, I am. If we kill the true ancestor, their plan will no longer move so smoothly.”

As soon as I said this, Eric and Goran’s movements changed visibly.

Their attacks and their body movements were several levels faster.

After noticing this, I took a step back. This was so I could clearly grasp the flow of magic energy.

“ARRGHHH!”

The true ancestor let out a scream as he was carved up by Eric’s holy blade and Goran’s magic sword.

However, not a single drop of blood was spilled.

A frantic Vampire Lord then tried to help the true ancestor.

“Not so fast!”

“I see that you’re easily distracted!”

Serulis and Shia did not miss the opportunity when the attention of the Lords moved to the true ancestor.

And in quick succession, they cut the two down.

Grulf also attacked a Lord bravely by biting it.

“Grau-grau-gaaaarrr!”

Grulf’s fangs were effective against vampires.

The Lord was badly wounded, and stopped moving. That was when Shia cut its head off.

“Well done, Grulf!”

“Grau!”

“Cluck-cluck-cluck!”

Lord Gerberga would cry regularly as well.

The whole time, he stuck his head out and observed Shia and Serulis as they fought the Lords.

And whenever it looked like the Lords were about to transform, he would cry, turning them into ash.

But the Lords weren’t just trying to escape by turning into mist or bats.

Aside from the first twenty, there were other Lords who came from elsewhere in order to help the true ancestor.

But in one attack, they were all turned into ashes.

“Amazing, Lord Gerberga. You are so reliable.”

“Cluck.”

Thanks to Lord Gerberga, the Lords were turned into ash before they could help the true ancestor.

Lord Gerberga alone was enough to completely kill the mobility of the enemy’s operation.

On top of that, the true ancestor seemed to be calling the mist towards him, but Lord Gerberga was erasing that as well.

The majority of the true ancestors’ plan was being sealed by Lord Gerberga.

“You blasted chicken! How dare you interfere with our noble cause!”

The true ancestor spat.

“He’s not a chicken. He is the Lord God Fowl.”

It wasn’t just Lord Gerberga, but Shia, Serulis and Grulf were also reliable and showed amazing teamwork.

They prevented the Lords from aiding the true ancestor.

Thanks to this, Eric and Goran were able to concentrate on him.

“This bastard bat. Does he seem a lot weaker than yesterday?”

“I don’t know how it works, but surely there is no such thing as an immortal being.”

As Eric said, there must be some trick that allows the true ancestor to be here, in spite of him dying the previous day.

Yesterday, the true ancestor had tried to transform into mist, but I had used Drain Touch and the Devil King Sword to suck out all of its mana until it was dead.

Yes, I was sure that he died. I could feel it. Surely, it was no mistake.

And I could not believe that he could revive without some kind of demerit.

As for this operation, which he sacrificed numerous arch vampires in order to put it into action… The true ancestor was clearly becoming frantic.

“You. You’re already dead, aren’t you?”

I said to the true ancestor.

Eric and Goran had cut the true ancestors body up into dozens of pieces now.

And the true ancestor’s head fell to the floor and rolled towards me.

I squatted down and picked up the head.

“I have a spell that I’m particularly good at using. It’s called Marionette. And I think that you are in a similar state to that.”

The head just glared at me.

Behind it, the rest of the body began to rebuild itself.

“But even if you know that, is there anything that you can do about it?”

The true ancestor’s head said with a laugh.

“It looks just like you when we killed you yesterday. It’s impressive that you were able to prepare such a detailed doll.”

The true ancestor was just a little weaker, but looked like the real thing.

“If you’re a doll, then I just have to stop the supply of magic energy from the outside.”

The true ancestor’s body was being forcefully controlled with magic.

No matter how much his body was chopped up, he would continue to move again as long as there was a supply of magic.

And so I activated Drain Touch on the true ancestor’s head.

“Fool! Did you really think that I wouldn’t have prepared a countermeasure…”

As the true ancestor boasted, I cut the magic circle with the Devil King Blade.

And then the true ancestor’s body fell to pieces on the floor.

“As I said, you continue to underestimate us.”

Drain Touch was magic that forcefully absorbed magic energy.

If you cast it on one part of the body, it could absorb magic from other parts that were connected by magic as well.

I had made use of this to defeat him yesterday. However, the situation with the true ancestor was different today.

The true ancestor was already dead. It was an external magic mechanism that was controlling the body.

I had used Drain Touch in order to grasp the flow of magic energy, and find the location of the external magic mechanism.

The flow of magic energy went underground, below the true ancestor. It was flowing in from the lower layer of the magic circle.

And so by cutting the magic circle with the Devil King Sword, I had been able to sever the magic current.
