Chapter 96 - Controlling Her

"What is the meaning of all this?" Because of her status as Fu Jianguo fiancee, Chen Ying was used to doing whatever she had wanted in the company. Her position was simply like a queen. In fear of repercussions from Fu Jianguo's side, no one ever dared to as much as giving Chen Ying a cold shoulder.

In Fu Entertainment, she was constantly surrounded by flatteries and bootlicking. 

The rule was simple. Keep Chen Ying happy and you get to rise. Say a single word that offends her, and you can't stay in the company for long.

Never had Fu Jianguo questioned a single action she had ever taken.

Never but today.

"Did I upset you?" Chen Ying hid the frown prompted from the bitterness in his tone. 

Deep inside, a gloom of desolation submerged her heart. He had never ever been cold towards her. Never before her mother incident.

Ever since the day her mother videotape had gone viral, her relationship with Fu Jianguo, slightly as it may, but it had suffered. 

Not only that, but the Fu family had now also gained leverage on Chen Ying. They had always been against their engagement — that was no secret. But after that incident, they could use this incident to put weight to the stance they had been holding since the beginning — that Fu Jianguo should leave her.

Since Chen Ying mother was such an uncultured, greedy barbarian, how could she be any better? 

Chen Ying could already imagine they were going to be Fu Jianguo grandparent's words.

And who was the reason behind everything? Chen Yi!

This time the flames for revenge that set her heart on fire reached up to the depths of the sky. 

Fu Jianguo ignored her words and demanded an answer. "You did not answer me." 

He had just heard from an assistant downstairs that Chen Ying had sent for as agent to sign up Chen Yi. When he stormed off in shock, he had heard indistinct murmurs calling him 'Pussy whipped' and similar derogatory terms for handing over everything to Chen Ying and no longer knowing what she did.

Thus he was not in a very good mood.

"Fu Entertainment is definitely not a trivial name. To offer that b*tch a place here, wouldn't that give her countless opportunities to harass us? I can not tolerate this."

"Fu Ge, I..." Chen Ying revealed a trace of vulnerability in her tone. "Is it because of my mother?" Her pained voice had Fu Jianguo's finally loosen his face. He sighed. "Ying'er, I am not blaming you, okay? The matter with your mother, it had nothing to do with you. Your mother is a separate individual and you can't control her choices. I'm just unhappy why would you take such a huge decision on your own. You did not even inform me?" 

He might have said those words, but deep down, he might or might not realize, there had been a permanent change.

The ideal image of Chen Ying family had shattered in Fu Jianguo mind. Likewise, Chen Ying was no longer the same untarnished, pure girl from a respectful, civilized family. 

And the large part to this result was played by the media incessant and exaggerating insults against Ye Zhouyan.

Despite Chen Yufan and Fu Jianguo spending their all, they had been unable to stop the news from circulating. 

When the whole media is screaming something, people start rising their fingers. Fu Jianguo could not continue standing by Ye Zhouyan side or he would also be dragged to the bullseye of their criticism. That, he could not afford.

The incident might not have tarnished Chen Ying's image in his mind but Ye Zhouyan did not matter to Fu Jianguo anymore.

Chen Ying observed his expressions, and she observed the way he called her mother a 'separate individual' — her mood dampened.

In the past, if any argument ever broke between Chen Ying and Fu Jianguo, Chen Ying would bring the matter to her parents and asked them to judge. Since they had an influence over him as elders, Fu Jianguo would listen to them and yield to her will.

But after this incident, Chen Ying knew she could not do that anymore. 

She had lost her parent's pressure on him.

'Chen Yi, are you laughing at me right now? Don't gloat over your little success! I'm going to return your favours by a hundred times!'

"Brother Fu, after what Yang Mi had told us...I realised Yi Jie wants to hurt you, I can't tolerate this. I mean, don't you find it suspicious? Despite everything we tried we had been unable to suppress the media agency. Why is that? I know you don't want to hear about her but mother suggested this to me...Chen Yi had been living on her own outside. Who knew what kind of people she must have gotten in contact with and...and what kind of favours she had exchanged for those reporters and media agencies?"

Fu Jianguo recalled Chen Yi character from their days back in youth. To him, she did not appear to be that sort of person.

But then, he recalled the specific memory, from late at night, right outside the club where she shamelessly kissed a stranger. That kind of woman, what boundary could she not cross? He immediately agreed with Chen Ying.

"So by having her at our company, you want to keep her under check? So that she doesn't end up giving her favours to some big name in exchange for harming me?" Fu Jianguo heart softened. He was such a fool. Ying'er was sincerely caring for him and he got angry at her.

"Brother Fu I don't want you to get hurt." Her bashful smile implied that was indeed her motive. But in her heart, there had been an entirely different ploy concocted. Since Chen Yi knew things she could not, by controlling her career, Chen Ying could keep her silent. 

Or so she had hoped.
