Chapter 40 - Declaration of the Hunt

"Marry me, and be my son's mother."

Lu Chen said as he pushed the papers towards her. Taking a peek to it, she quickly recognized the marriage registration papers he had once showed her before.

"Marry me." He repeated. Xiu Mei's attention quickly returned to the person beside her. Her eyes clashed with Lu Chen's pair of dark-orb eyes. His eyes similar to a whirlpool slowly pulling her in to him, and she quickly retracted her sight and turned away.

She thought back to his words again.

Why was he at it again? Proposing to her and convincing her to become his son's mother. It's not like she's the only woman out there that he could propose to, isn't it?!

If he'd like, a lot of women would've fought over for the spot for being his wife. Why was he too insistent in being with her?

"I refuse." She stood her ground against him as she finally returned to fiercely glaring at him. He saw him stiffen with her answer but she didn't care. All she knew was that she wouldn't let him push her around and blindly follow his orders. Her personal life and career are two separate things. She would never dare to be rash in terms of committing in a relationship with anyone.

Lu Chen's gaze hardened as the both of them kept staring at each other. Neither one was giving up and looking away. A few seconds later, Xiu Mei flinched from her seat when Lu Chen suddenly moved and stood up making his body tower over her. She unconsciously followed his movement making her look up to him which she instantly regretted.

Startled she moved backwards and almost lied down on the sofa when she saw the magnified face of Lu Chen nearing her face. Xiu Mei felt that oppressive aura he was emitting that almost made her want to surrender under his power. She couldn't even find the strength to fight back against his oppression. She felt his hand caressing her chin, while the other was on her side stopping her from moving any further. He flashed a sly smile at her which stirred something weird on her stomach. Weirdly, she even felt her funny little heart made a flip.

"You won't be able to escape. You're mine."

That smile... it felt like he was planning something that she wouldn't be able to get away. A trap that would prove difficult for her to escape from. Her breath hitched as she tried to get a grip of herself.

If she's not going to fight back, at this rate, she'll be eaten! Eaten without bones by the emperor CEO. Xiu Mei understood how fierce and sharp every attack plan Lu Chen creates and now, being the target of his attack was something she wasn't sure she could fight against to. His and her capabilities are still way too different and Lu Chen was the type to attack and earn the best of benefits from the situation.

However, she mustn't surrender now! Finally gaining the courage, she slapped his hand away with her other hand lightly pushing his shoulder thus, increasing their distance with each other.

Finally free from his oppressive chains, she quickly stood up and took a few steps backwards to increase their distance.

"We'll see about that." She quickly need to get out of this room and think of a game plan, else, she would be gobbled up by this wolf in front of her.

And that she did.

Xiu Mei did her best to act calmly, yet, her feet was betraying her. She thought she was walking just like normal however, her brisk walking to the door didn't escape from Lu Chen's eyes. In just a few seconds, Xiu Mei was already outside of the room.

All those actions was witnessed by Lu Chen who was now standing upright from his bent position awhile ago. A slight curve of his lips could be seen as he repeated the endearment he had called her a few minutes ago.

"Mrs.Lu..."

Hearing his words, Lu Chen suddenly felt euphoric. Somehow, that endearment seemed perfect on his mouth. Mrs.Lu....Xiu Mei.

A pair of predator-like eyes glinted as the sunlight spilled into his room.

He slowly walked back and returned to his seat. After contemplating about something for a few seconds, he pushed a couple of buttons on the drawer beside him until it beeped open.

Inside, he pulled out a small brown envelope. Pulling the contents out, he held a couple of printed images.

It was the images of Xiu Mei with Lee Yu An last night. Her bright smile as she stood in front of the soldier. The laugh and sweetness she only showed to that person while they were having dinner. The occasional yet intimate touches of locking their arms together or brushing of their shoulders as the both of them walked under the moonlight.

That familiar coldness returned on his gaze, and his sense of possessiveness was woken up as he darted through the photos.

Lee Yu An.... Kei....

It seems like he have to be on guard. A lot of people are eyeing his woman, he doesn't have time to be slow and careful in catching her.

No matter if he doesn't love her right now. Once he chooses that person, he will never let go. No one will be able to snatch the person he chose in front of him, nor let that person walk away from him.

Love?

He would slowly get to that. But first and foremost on the list, seal the deal first so that his woman wouldn't dare to escape from him anymore. Cut off all escape routes, so that she would be left with no other choice.

Lu Chen moved aside the photo as he interlaced his fingers and rested his chin on it.

"Xiu Mei.... let's start the hunt, shall we?" He whispered to no one in the room. A chuckle escaped from his mouth as he thought of the days to come.
