Chapter 227: Knight in shining armor

Jing Lihua silently watched Gu Ting storming out of the venue while cursing under his breath. Stroking fussy, she laughed. "Looks like, our job here is done."

Unfortunately, she had just turned when she was stopped by a pair of women she would rather not speak with. Jing Tian and He Zongying. 

She looked up; her eyebrows furrowed together in a question. "What do you want?"

Jing Lihua could detect traces of resentment in Jing Tian's eyes. Surely, she blamed Jing Lihua for the reason Gu Ting behaved with her. "Are you really that desperate that you are vying for other's men?"

Jing Lihua silently furrowed her brows in confusion.

"Jing Lihua, don't act innocent. We all know what sort of vixen you are. Now, what were you trying to do with Gu Ting? Why did he have to talk with you privately?" He Zongying glared at her.

Hearing their words, Jing Lihua felt like a headache coming. Of all the possibilities, this was what Jing Tian came up with? That Jing Lihua was trying to seduce that Gu Ting...

Jing Lihua thanked God she did not share a drop of blood with this dunce. Otherwise, she would have loathed herself her entire life for having such a stupid blood relative.

"If this nonsense is all you have to say... wait, even if you have something worthy to say, I won't stop to indulge your fantasies. Good luck sister. I have done what I have come to do. I wish you a happy wedding for the coming days." Saying this with apparent sarcasm in her tone, Jing Lihua intended to pass by Jing Tian's side.

Or so...she hoped to.

As soon as Jing Lihua stepped forward, Jing Tian and He Zongying blocked her path. Jing Tian had not gone to search for He Zhonying so that they could let Jing Lihua off just like this. She would have to suffer for her actions.

At this instant, she heard Jing Tian laugh. "You are trying to deny our accusation? I saw, Jiejie, that how you arrived today without an escort. Someone as important as you couldn't get an escort, don't you find this situation laughable? Wouldn't that sort of situation turn you desperate?"

"If you intend to use this against me, your mother has already once used this once. Please try something new or move aside." Jing Lihua coldly said.

However, her words didn't manage to stop the duo of He Zongying and Jing Tian. Both of them came fully prepared. Especially after being treated harshly by Gu Ting, Jing Tian would not settle easily. 

"After being divorced by Su Liwei, who would be willing to escort you? Admit it, you are an abandoned woman. You migh

t have caused some misunderstanding between us, but I am going to marry Gu Ting and live a luxurious life. While you, you will live the rest of your life slaving away in an office like a man."

Jing Tian's words might have been able to affect an ordinary woman. But not Jing Lihua. After her rebirth, living alone while advancing in her career was the type of life she desired the most. There was nothing sad about this.

But after reuniting with Li Zhiqiang, her views had to be remolded. She realized there was nothing more beautiful than the companionship of the one you love by heart. And thus, she was certain she was not going to live the rest of her life alone. 

"Tian Jie, why are you even bothering with her. The level to which she has fallen, she could not even hire a man to be her escort. Do you think Young Master Gu would spare her a glance?"

"Well, you do have a point." Jing Tian sneered. "However, I'm just scared she might have used some underhand tactics. You know what kind of cheap woman she is."

"From a desperate woman like her, it wouldn't be surprising."

"Damn it, those bastards!" Zhou Liqin cursed as he hurriedly made his way to the venue.

Today, his luck was terrible.

First, he had to wait for so long outside just to impress Ying'er friend.

Second, a cat was given priority over him. 

Third, after he resolved to earn back the honor he lost, somehow a flock of fans recognized him. Screaming and shouting, they immediately surrounded him. Like a sheep surrounded by starving lions, Zhou Liqin had no way out of the situation. He could only slowly pacify those starving lions to get out of the mess.

Since he was required to maintain a positive image and those fans were relatively high profiles for being in this expensive hotel, he wisely decided to be as polite as he could be. But taking selfies and signing over a hundred of autographs took longer than he had expected. 

After that, with all smiles and politeness, he excused himself and ran towards the venue. Using his identity, he easily managed to enter despite not having the invitation. He searched the venue for long. But no matter where he looked. he could not find Jing Lihua. In frustration, he dialed up to Gu Peizhao only to find out that the reception lady had been too flustered and guided him to the wrong party!

Heavens!

He had wanted to enter the venue alongside Jing Lihua as her humble escort. Was this too much to

ask?

He rushed back to the right venue, hoping it was still not too late. When he appeared in the venue, he was surprised to find that two young women surrounded Jing Lihua. Everyone else was looking in their direction with curiosity.

Through his rich experience, he could tell there much be some drama going on.

And through the way of things, Jing Lihua appeared to be the victim.

What a perfect opportunity! A perfect opportunity to act as a knight in shining armor! Heavens had not given up on him completely. There was still hope.

Wearing back his sunglasses, Zhou Liqin got into their direction.
