Chapter 224: Beneficial association

That hateful woman's purpose was clear. Gu Ting would be a fool if didn't realize it by now. 

She wanted to flaunt her wealth and make his Tian'er look inferior. Although his Tian'er did her well to make her sister sound good during, Gu Ting was not born yesterday. Through their conversations, he could pick up on how, on different occasions, Tian'er elder sister had tried to suppress her utilizing her grandfather's wealth.

But today, this her elder sister had crossed all boundaries! What kind of blackened heart she had to have to not even let her sister off on her own engagement party?

At first, Gu Ting had been conflicted about whether to take action against that Jing Lihua or not. But after today, witnessing how much she hurt his Tian'er and that, she didn't possess even a scrap of any redemption quality in her, he didn't dare to hesitate anymore.

Of course, he would not tell Tian'er. A kind-hearted woman such as she would surely try all means to stop him from doing something bad to her sister.

"That's why I asked you not to wait for her. What has she ever done for you but to cause you pain? Even after all this, you still naively hold on the hope that she would care for you?" Gu Ting was acutely repulsed. 

When he saw his innocent Tian'er suffering under people's criticism, his heart broke.

Since the instant people started revealing mocking smiles while comparing Jing Tian and her elder sister, Gu Ting wrapped his arm protectively around his Tian'er. He knew his Tain'er was sensitive in this matter. Thus, whenever someone dared to throw a judgemental glance in her direction, he would glare at the person to have him back away.

He would not let anyone hurt his Tian'er.

And the cause of this angst, he glared in the direction of Tian'er elder sister, he would make sure to deal with her.

Jing Lihua was too busy to socialize with people 'worthy' enough to be socialized. After excusing herself, she glanced back only to be surprised at what was happening.

Why was her little sister fiance glowering at her as if she had murdered his family?

And why were Lang Lan and He Zhouyan shooting her such ugly looks?

What did she even do?

Jing Lihua blinked in confusion. She had heard a few words from their attempts to stir up trouble. But whatever deplorable idea they had, Jing Lihua had no interest to be a part of it. Thus, her brain filtered out much of their unnecessary provocations as annoying background noises so she could focus on th

e conversations at hand.

Thus, she had no clear idea of why the situation turned out so in the end.

It was when a young woman approached Jing Lihua. "Miss Jing, it's a pleasure to meet you. Ever since your rapid advancement and the way you support a company on your own, you have been a positive role model for us women."

Jing Lihua tilted her head. For a moment, she was startled at the face she found. 

"How rude of me. Let me introduce myself. I am..."

"Xiao Shen." Jing Lihua smiled at the petite woman before her.

Xiao Shen was surprised at being recognized. And to some extend, she was embarrassed. That was apparent with a light tinge on her cheeks. She looked up, forming her lips into an assured smile. "I'm flattered you recognized me." She didn't let anything affect her tone.

Jing Lihua was amazed at the confidence of the young woman before her. But then, again, it was expected of a woman who would rise to international fame in the coming years. It was given that she would possess such excellent social skills.

It was such an unfortunate thing that her time had yet not come. 

The reason Jing Lihua recognized her was because Xiao Shen had been a close friend with Jing Tian. After she had risen to fame in her last life, Jing Tian continuously leeched off Xiao Shen to advance in her career.

But...due to Su Lanfen dismissal, things had turned out differently this time.

Jing Tian had already surpassed Xiao Shen. And because it would take at least a few more months for Xiao Shen to make it big, she was still relatively unknown. Knowing Jing Tian, she would not hesitate to discard Xiao Shen since she had served her cause for her.

As Jing Lihua concluded those things, Xiao Shen smiled and initiated a polite conversation with her. Everything went smoothly. During conversations, Xiao Shen divulged vaguely that she knew some secrets about Jing Tian.

Jing Lihua picked on the resentment in her tone. Turned out, Xiao Shen had already been discarded by Jing Tian and now, she was striving for opportunities for revenge.

Thus, Jing Lihua requested her card and secured it in her bag in case she might require in the future if Jing Tian turned out to be a bigger problem than she anticipated. 

After that, Xiao Shen excused herself and left. Jing Lihua lips curled up into a smile as she stroked fussy fur who nestled in her arms. "Even if the events have diverted from how they had turned out the last time, the one possesses talent would surpass others eventually. I would need to host fa

shion shows in my mall in the future. It would do well if I start cultivating good relationships with artists. Zhao Liying would surely help but she is still alone. I can't unload everything on her." Jing Lihua sighed.

In any way, if she could help out Xiao Shen and get on her good side, in the future Xiao Shen might help her out by attending her events and helping her out by business point of view.

This was an association that would benefit both parties.

Finally, Jing Lihua lifted her eyes and glanced in the direction of the couple who was being congratulated by everyone. The final purpose of her arrival, that was to warn Gu Ting, was still to be served.
