Chapter 214: Different Priorities

Gu Ting noticed the flash of grievance across his beloved face. His heart wrenched in pain. "Don't be sad." He quickly put his arms around her to soothe her. "Do you want me to do something about that?" 

"What would you do?" Jing Tian lifted her head and gazed into Gu Ting's eyes innocently.

Gu Ting throat dried up as his heart thumped loudly. He coughed slightly to distract him. The Second Master of the Gu family was once notorious for his playful ways. Who could have guessed that there would be a woman one day who would be able to capture his heart? 

His whole family was joyous when he revealed his intentions of finally settling down. The second Jing Tian gave away her consent, he excitedly arranged for a splendid party. How could Gu Ting let go of this woman? Jing Tian was such a kindhearted, gentle, and virtuous woman. 

He was indeed lucky to have crossed his path with her in this lifetime. 

"Tian'er why do you put so much importance on your sister? She has bullied you your whole life. Why can't you just...give up on her?"

Jing Tian's face softened. "No matter what, she is still my blood sister. I know she had tried to hurt me in the past but maybe she had her reason."

Hearing her words, Gu Ting shook his head. His heart constricted in sadness as he gazed at his lover. But at the same, he felt a sense of pride in that woman who was his fiance. 

This Jing Tian...really...she had a big heart! 

She was such a precious person. These days, finding a person like her would be akin to searching for a needle from a pile of dung.

Establishing that in his mind, Gu Ting was even more determined to try his best to make her the happiest woman on Earth. "Tian'er I would not let you be trampled on." He said; a flicker of determination flashed across his eyes.

At the entrance of the Royal Continental Hotel, a luxurious yet decent car pulled out slowly. The reporters around the entrance immediately steadied themselves to photograph the next big shot who was going to attend the party.

A few of the gossiping ladies at the entrance quietened down and synchronically glanced in the direction of the car. Once the chatters died out, everyone anticipated for the person to show up.

The door opened and a slender leg pulled out. A woman in a simple, snow-white cocktail dress appeared. Once she was completely out, everyone's breath got caught in the throat.

She appeared to be covered in a gentle halo. A snow-white cat rested lazily in her arms. For a moment, her splendid entry put everyone in a trance. They all felt as if they were witnessing an immortal descending from the heavens.

Her hair was let down, her light makeup accentuated those bewitching green eyes, making them appear even more enthralling.

"Wait... Isn't it President Jing? She actually appeared?"

"After her divorce, hadn't she been trying to avoid the limelight?"

When the women at the entrance recognized Jing Lihua, their expressions changed from surprise to animosity. Such parties in the city were a means to show off their beauty and wealth. All those women appeared to be harmonious on the surface but each and every instant, they were fighting with snarky comments and with 'who was wearing the most privileged brands' or 'who had the richer boyfriend'.

And just now, Jing Lihua had completely out shadowed them with her elegant attire. One could tell that her dress alone without the accessories was worth more than all the dresses at the party.

Furthermore, it accentuated her and emphasized her looks, suiting her perfectly. 

In the past whenever Jing Lihua used to appear at such events or parties, her style would be too gaudy and irritating inviting people ridicule. She used to be a subject of mockery and entertainment for those high-class women. 

Although she had made improvements and no longer wore those gaudy dressed, people had still not expected her to change so drastically!

"Heh! What's the big fuss? Acting so high and mighty when she doesn't even have a partner." A woman found a weak point to attack.

Hearing her words, the other women felt their mood being lifted as they sneered in Jing Lihua's direction.

"After her divorce, who would be willing to accompany her. Wouldn't that be akin to standing against the 'Su' family? That person would be a dunce to escort her. " Another one scoffed.

"Tsk. Tsk. She is just a withered flower that had outlived her worth. Who asked her to be so arrogant and be the first one to propose the divorce? Could she be not like a humble lady and endure a little for being a woman?"

"After all, she had the arrogance of dumping such an outstanding man as Su Liwei. Did she think that it would make her appear high and mighty? Or did she hope to get an even better man than him?"

"Better man? Haha... I would love to see as to how she gets a man half as important as Su Liwei. Wait... that's a far stretch. She won't even be getting a commoner to marry her. After all, who would are to go against the 'Su' family?"

Throwing those snarky comments, those women went back to their chattering implying Jing Lihua was not the one worth their time.

he was unruffled by those comments thrown in her direction. She was a woman who supported a conglomerate on her own. She was not the one like these women who depended upon men to support themselves.

Definitely, their priorities were different. 

What was important in their eyes was worthless in Jing Lihua's eyes. 

As for a matter of having someone to escort her, He Zhouyan had purposely informed her about the event in the last few days. Even if she wanted, she could not arrange for a reputable escort.

"Let's go fussy." Jing Lihua stroked the cat's soft fur. "Who needs an escort when I have you?" She smiled and walked forward.
