Chapter 168 An awkward dinner

“He must spend too much money on it since he made a block booking in such an upscale restaurant. I felt surprised.” Gu Yan thought. But now she felt that she was in a dream.

An hour passed. Gu Yan sat there to wait for Mo Yichen and was almost asleep. She wanted to be in good condition in front of Mo Yichen, so she was about to lean on the desk to have a rest. However, she was astonished since the music started suddenly. “What happened?”

A man came over. He was in a suit and looked handsome. It was Mo Yichen.

“Gu Yan, you came here very early.” Mo Yichen greeted Gu Yan. Gu Yan felt embarrassed since she stared at him for such a long time. Then she looked another side.

“It is you who are late.” Gu Yan had nothing to say. She had been waiting for a long time.

“Sorry. I won’t do that again.” Mo Yichen apologized to Gu Yan. He even didn’t think that he would make an apology to others since he never did that before.

“Do you like the dress?” Mo Yichen didn’t care about his lateness but her dress.

“Is there no aesthetic fatigue? Mo Yichen won’t care about what I am wearing.” Gu Yan thought.

“It fits me very well. Thank you. Why do you buy it for me?” Gu Yan wondered if she guessed right. She even didn’t know why she would ask such an idiotic question to embarrass herself and Mo Yichen.

“Last time, I saw that you wanted to buy this dress but you didn’t. I thought it was…” Mo Yichen replied.

“You thought that I can’t afford it, right?” Gu Yan was very angry.

“I shouldn’t argue with you. But you know that’s not my point.” Mo Yichen thought that Gu Yan misunderstood him. He bought it not because he thought that she couldn’t afford it.

“I know. I don’t mind. I like it very much. You have a good taste.” Gu Yan touched her dress.

“It’s great that you like it. I want to invite you for dinner to appreciate your design for Xiangyan.” Mo Yichen said without seeing her eyes. He just rubbed his hands by tablecloth over and over. He seemed very nervous. Although he had dinner with Gu Yan before, it didn’t have happy ending.

But now, Gu Yan felt uncomfortable. She touched her back and tried to find the reason.

“Gu Yan, what’s wrong with you?” Mo Yichen looked at her.

“Nothing. It seems that the dress is a little tight.” Gu Yan thought that it was the button made her uncomfortable. Then she moved her body.

“Sir, may I serve the dishes now?” The waiter asked.

“Yes!”

Then the dishes were served.

“These are the specialties of our restaurant. Please enjoy yourself.” Then the waiter left.

“Please, Gu Yan.” Mo Yichen took a piece of food to Gu Yan.

“Well, thank you.”

“It’s delicious.”

They drunk and ate without any words. The mood was very subdued here.

Gu Yan still felt uncomfortable. It seemed that her back was being pinned.

Mo Yichen felt that something was wrong with Gu Yan but he didn’t know what happened.

“I should go to the bathroom.” Gu Yan left. Mo Yichen looked at Gu Yan and didn’t ask too much. He looked at the dishes.

“What’s this, abalone? Is that not fresh?” Mo Yichen asked the waiter who was standing beside them.

“These are newly materials which were just bought from the market today. We won’t have any problems about the food security.” The waiter explained.

Gu Yan came to the bathroom and tried to fine what was on her back. Finally, she knew that she forgot to take the price tag off.

But now she couldn’t take it off by herself. She was angry but could only go back to her seat.

“What happened? Is there something wrong?” Mo Yichen asked with concern.

“I’m fine. Let’s enjoy the meal.” Gu Yan put up with the ache and continued to eat.

Mo Yichen said nothing and sat down.

Then they finished the dinner in the splendid music.

Mo Yichen and Gu Yan went out of the restaurant and was photographed by paparazzi who had been hiding in the bushes for a long time.

However, Mo Yichen still showed his concern to Gu Yan.

“Here you are. It is a little cold outside.” Mo Yichen put his coat on Gu Yan. She was astonished and looked back. There was nobody behind them except for two guards who had turned away their eyes after seeing Gu Yan.

“Thank you!” Gu Yan replied. Then Mo Yichen opened the car door.

“Please!”

Then they left the restaurant. Mo Yichen was about to drive Gu Yan home but was refused at the very start. Finally, Gu Yan acquiesced.

Gu Yan didn’t want to say anything since her back was hurt by that price tag. Mo Yichen was a taciturn man, so he also didn’t say anything. Then they arrived to Liang Shaohun’s villa.

Mo Yichen stopped the car.

“Thank you for the meal.” Gu Yan was ready to get off but was pulled by Mo Yichen. She was surprised.

“Are you sick?” Mo Yichen thought that Gu Yan should go to the hospital.

“I’m fine. I will take it off when I am home.” Gu Yan replied. Suddenly, the zipper of the dress was opened since Mo Yichen pulled her.

“Sorry, put my coat on.” Mo Yichen took his coat and put it on Gu Yan.

“Thank you.” Gu Yan wanted to return his coat to him and left quickly.

“Wait a minute, I have something for you.” Mo Yichen took a box from the back seat and gave it to Gu Yan.

“This is a gift. Congratulate to you on your business. I know it’s abrupt to do that. But I want to give it to you as soon as possible.” Mo Yichen handed the gift to Gu Yan.

“Thank you. Drive safely.” Then Gu Yan got off the car. Mo Yichen left after Gu Yan entered the house.

Gu Yan held the box and felt very happy. Liang Shaohun watched the whole story on the second floor of the villa.
