“That is the difference between you and me, Kail. While you were thinking of me for the past five years, I have been trying my best to forget you. Do you get it?”

At her determined words, Kail’s face turned to that of faint despair. But he was still glaring at her and he was clearly not giving up. Silje wiped the blood from her lips and raised her voice.

“So go back to Oslo! Go away, Kail! Don’t drag me back into your life. Don’t make me get involved with the Bruntland family again. I am sick of your family.”

After her angry outburst, silence fell. Kail looked at her with his empty eyes before replying slowly, “I’m sorry, but no.”

He put out his cigarette elegantly and continued, “I don’t care if Ingrid forced you to abort our baby or if you did it on your own. What is important is the fact that you left me. Well, I guess I don’t even care about that anymore at this point,” Kail announced as he threw his wine glass against the wall.

“Come back to me, Silje.”

His voice was quiet, but something inside of her exploded. She had been controlling her emotions so far, but suddenly she remembered the smell of the hospital and the hopelessness she felt after losing her baby. Silje became furious, especially because of Kail’s obsession and possessiveness.

She walked toward him and screamed, “When I first met you, I was only seventeen. It’s true that I was attracted to you. I won’t deny it, but we were never really friends. We never really knew each other. The truth is, we never understood each other. Do you not remember? Did you forget?”

Silje was cruel, but she couldn’t help it. She continued, “Did you really forget what actually happened? You cut my wrist with your knife.”

Her lips continued to bleed, and a tense silence fell. Silje expected Kail to lash out, but to her surprise, he answered quietly, “No, I haven’t forgotten.”

With his darkened eyes, he slowly walked towards her. When Silje tensed, Kail held her hand and kissed her wrist.

“I never forgot you. I can never forget you. No matter how hard I try, I can’t help but think of you constantly. I came to New York to take you back as mine again. You can’t stop me, Silje.”

With that, Kail suddenly ripped open her shirt and her black bra. Then he took her breast into his mouth.

It happened so unexpectedly that all Silje could do was moan.
