“Can you show me the receipt first? It’s alright. One way or another, we will resolve this for you. Come, have a seat on the couch. Xiuxiu, pour this lady a glass of water.” Shu Yan invited the woman over to the couch in a gentle tone, chitchatted with her a little, and the woman calmed down a lot quickly.

She had learned this trick from the property manager the other day. When someone was very upset, it was difficult for them to see things any other way. As long as one talked to them gently and changed the subject a little bit, the atmosphere would relax and the other party’s rationality would return.

The woman took a sip of the water, and her volume lowered by a lot.

“I saw many people buying clothes from here yesterday, so I bought a pair of jeans myself. There were a lot of people and you were very busy so I bought it without trying it on. I noticed the big hole on it this morning when I tried to put it in. Don’t think I am scamming you. I don’t need to do that over a pair of jeans.” Having said that, she glanced over at Yingying.

Shu Yan, too, gave her a look. Yingying must have said something earlier that aggravated the woman even more.

“She probably just wasn’t thinking straight. Just try and relax first. Since there’s an issue, we will resolve the issue. How about this? I will replace you with a new one. In addition, I will give you a membership card that you will be able to enjoy a 5% discount on your next visit.”

“Okay. But it won’t be another one with a hole in it, right?” said the woman, still unhappy.

“Of course not. Take a look and see what you like. We are not busy right now. You can take your time trying them on first.” Shu Yan opened the bag and took a look inside. Even the pair of socks from the drawing was inside of it. This woman was probably not here to scam them.

After the customer left, Shu Yan looked at the pair of jeans again. This wasn’t the merchandise that she had gotten yesterday. It was from the previous time. So the problem did not lie with the order from yesterday. The batch from before was more or less gone with just a few items left, and all of them hanging up on the shelves. They were fine when they received it; otherwise, Xiuxiu and the others would have noticed it before now. So where did the hole come from?

Shu Yan thought about it for a little bit. She stood up and flipped through a few different styles. She found a jacket with a cut on its sleeve, and another on a sweater that was also cute. These were the same ones that Le looked at over and over again the other day.

“Do any one of you remember what else Le had looked at the other day?” She worried that more of the clothing destroyed by her was sold. One was fine, more would hurt the shop’s reputation.

“We didn’t pay that much attention that day.” All of them are smart people. Hearing Shu Yan’s question let them know that Shu Yan was suspecting Le.

“That was despicable. How could she do such a thing?” Yingying was very angry. “Boss Lady, we will go talk to her!”

Shu Yan shook her head. There was no surveillance camera. They have no evidence that it was done by Le, meaning there would be no repercussion.

“So we are just going to let it go?” One of the temporary workers was particularly angry.

Of course they wouldn’t just let the incident go. Revenge was best served cold. They had just started the business, now was not the time to stir up too much trouble. Shu Yan pursed her lips and said, “Okay, let’s organize our merchandise. The customers will be coming shortly. In addition, be courteous to the customers who come to return their items and offer them a membership card. If they already have a membership card then let them pick a dress to make up to them.”

Shu Yan walked past Le’s boutique when she was on her way to get lunch that afternoon. She glanced over at it and happened to see Le chatting and laughing with Zhu Hung and the others. Seeing Shu Yan, she even waved and smiled at her.

Shu Yan gave her a profound smile before she turned and walked away.

“What’s the matter? Did you two have a fall out?” asked Zhu Hung after she looked over at Shu Yan’s back.

“No, I won’t say it’s a fall out. It was… Aye! Never mind that! That’s right, Zhu Hung. Did you say you saw her in front of Fu Street the other day?”

“Yeah, what a coincidence? Shu Yan is renting my apartment.” Zhu Hung only found out when she went back to Fu Street over the National Day holiday and happened to see Shu Yan shopping for groceries with her two children. Her husband was there at the time and that’s when she found out that Shu Yan was their renter.

“You said she’s renting your apartment?” Le’s eyes darted around and a smile appeared on her.
