Chapter 45: Breaking The Rules

The students couldn’t concentrate on answering the test, and they were now getting annoyed.

They would repeat a grade level if they failed the exam.

It’s humiliating to repeat a grade level at Jixia Academy. They would not only embarrass themselves, but also their families.

However, they did not expect that Tan Mo would actually give way. She offered to not take the exam in order to silence Qin Muxiao.

Tan Mo was so kind and considerate.

Also, during this semester, Qin Muxiao had been causing trouble, while Tan Mo had behaved properly and was very low-key.

Even if Qin Muxiao tried to stir up trouble, Tan Mo didn’t stoop down to her level.

Meanwhile, the sun shone brightly outside, and its rays hit Tan Mo. She seemed as if she was glowing.

Just by looking at her, people felt warm in their hearts.

Li Xingyun raised her hand timidly and said, “Teacher, let Tan Mo take the exam.”

Tan Mo was so kind, but she helped Qin Muxiao carry out her nasty plan against Tan Mo.

She was an accomplice for lying to Tan Mo about Qin Muye looking for her.

She only agreed to do that because Qin Muxiao threatened her, and she really couldn’t afford to offend her.

However, she had been feeling guilty the moment she lied to Tan Mo.

Tan Mo actually chose to not take the exam so Qin Muxiao would stop moaning and let everyone carry on with the test. Li Xingyun mustered up the courage to speak up for her.

With Li Xingyun taking the lead, the other students chimed in, “Yes, Teacher, let Tan Mo take the exam.”

Compared to Qin Muxiao, who gave Tan Mo a hard time and interrupted everyone from taking the exam, they liked Tan Mo better.

If it weren’t for Qin Muxiao, they would be good friends with Tan Mo.

Qin Muxiao looked at everyone angrily.

‘Why are they all siding with Tan Mo?’

When did these people become friends with Tan Mo?

“How can we not follow the rules?” Qin Muxiao insisted, speaking loudly to overwhelm her classmates’ voices.

“What rules? You’re making a fuss during an exam and ignoring the teacher, yet you have the audacity to insist that the rules be implemented? ” Wei Zhiqian’s voice was heard from the door.

Everyone looked at the door in unison and saw a tall figure. They couldn’t see his face as the morning sun was shining brightly.

He gave off the same vibe as Tan Mo.

He had a long shadow, and as he walked forward, everyone finally saw his face.

Wei Zhiqian entered Tan Mo’s classroom.

“Teacher, I’m sorry. I’m here to give Tan Mo her stationery,” Wei Zhiqian calmly explained. “A few minutes ago, I saw her rushing to the stationery store. I told her to come back here first, and I’d be the one to buy her stationery.”

The invigilator said to Tan Mo, relieved, “It’s good that someone bought the stationery for you. You must check your things next time to avoid any hassle. Go to your seat and take the exam.”

“Yes, thank you, Teacher,” Tan Mo replied. However, before going to her seat, she walked up to Wei Zhiqian first. She raised her head and said, “Little Uncle, thank you.”

Then Tan Mo hurriedly returned to her seat.

Although she was not around when the test paper was distributed, she still got one on her desk.

“Everyone, hurry up and continue with the exam!” the teacher urged. “Don’t lose your focus.”

Wei Zhiqian glanced at Tan Mo.

Tan Mo was also looking at him.

Seeing him look back, Tan Mo smiled and waved at him.

Wei Zhiqian couldn’t help but smile, and then he left.

Qin Muxiao saw all this from beginning to end. Wei Zhiqian didn’t even glance at her.

He came here this time to speak up for Tan Mo!

Qin Muxiao gritted her teeth. She then looked at the test paper full of questions, but was unable to concentrate on answering them for a long while.

Meanwhile, Tan Mo had already started answering the test and was carefully doing calculations.

Because she was already 10 minutes late and was troubled by Qin Muxiao, a lot of time was wasted.

She had to answer all questions with little time left.

Tan Mo’s exam was different from her classmates. It was much more complicated.

Tan Mo focused all her attention on the questions and zoned out.

When the bell rang, Tan Mo was relieved.

However, she suddenly felt like she was on the verge of collapse. Her head throbbed, and she was dazed. She wanted her mind to stay blank. She didn’t even want to say anything.

The invigilator collected the exam papers and went out. As soon as he left the building, he saw Wei Zhiqian waiting at the entrance.

“Teacher.” Wei Zhiqian came forward.

“Wei Zhiqian, what’s the matter?” the teacher asked while holding the exam papers.

“Qin Muxiao interrupted the class in the middle of the test. Shouldn’t her credits be deducted?” Wei Zhiqian seemed to be inquiring. However, he was actually reminding the teacher.

Jixia Academy not only monitored the final exam results, but also counted credits. These two factors would then be combined to determine the average grade.

The invigilator nodded and said, “I will report this matter to the teachers on the discipline committee, and then they will decide according to the regulations and determine how many points will be deducted.”

This was what Wei Zhiqian wanted to happen.

It didn’t matter how many credits would be deducted so long as points were deducted.

They couldn’t let Qin Muxiao get away with causing trouble.

Qin Muxiao had to suffer the consequences.

In the class, Tan Mo had no idea that Wei Zhiqian was talking to the teacher outside.

She recovered a little bit, and she heard Ming Yeqing say, “If I had arrived earlier, it would have been fine. I could have lent you a pen or something.”

“It’s okay. The exam was over anyway, and I have enough stationery for the following exams.” Tan Mo put the stationery box in her school bag. Having learned from what happened earlier, she would keep in mind to take it with her everywhere.

Even though there were a lot of students in the classroom, thus making it difficult for Qin Muxiao to play tricks on her, Tan Mo felt that it was better to be careful.

“I’ll ask Muye how she did on the exam,” Tan Mo said with her school bag strapped on her back.

“I’ll go with you.” Ming Yeqing didn’t want to be harassed by Qin Muxiao.

He got along well with Tan Mo and also became familiar with Qin Muye.

The two of them went to Qin Muye’s class next door.

As soon as they stepped out of the classroom, Li Xingyun stopped her. “Tan Mo.”

Tan Mo stopped and waited for her.

Li Xingyun said in a low voice, “Tan Mo, can I talk to you alone?”

“I’ll go to Muye first,” Ming Yeqing said and left.

Li Xingyun said, “I’m sorry… Qin Muxiao asked me to lie to you. Although I didn’t know what she intended to do, I knew that she was definitely up to no good. It was just that I…I didn’t dare to offend her…”

“Why are you apologizing to me?” Tan Mo asked.

“Because I feel guilty,” Li Xingyun admitted.

Tan Mo shook her head. “If I only had the Tan family, without Uncle Zhiqian to back me up, would you still apologize to me?”

Li Xingyun was stunned. She thought about it seriously before answering, “I would. During the exam today, you would rather not take the exam so we could focus. You are kind, but I helped others bully you. My guilty conscience won’t let me be at peace.”
