Chapter 36: The Crisis of Su Family

Florence Li’s heart hangs. She keeps wandering at the gate anxiously and looking forward to seeing the little boy’s return. Troubled by her behavior, Rodney sighs secretly and walks up to her. Li rushes out into the heavy rain. Seeing this, Rodney quickly follows her with an umbrella in his hand.

What she worries about is just Nelson. However, her foot is hurt, and she hobbles. Someone respectfully opens the door and offers an umbrella. Brian gets off the car with the boy in his arms. “Nelson!” Seeing her whole body has been drenched, Brian lours. His fierce eyes sweep over Rodney. Rodney’s heart sinks and he even doesn’t dare to see his eyes. Then he uses the umbrella to keep her from the rain subconsciously. Therefore, most of his body is drenched in the rain. Li doesn’t pay attention to this detail. She hurriedly goes to see Nelson in Brian’s arms. The little boy’s face is very serene. He seems to feel at ease now and maybe he didn’t make a scene. Florence Li looks at Brian on guard and wants to take the child from him.

Her body works much faster than her brain. When her hand reaches half way, Brian hands Nelson to Nanny Liu, who comes here in a hurry. Li’s hands are stiff in the air, and her heart is filled with anger at the moment. “Nanny Liu, take him to bed. I’ll ask the doctor to do checkups in the morning.” “Yes, sir.” Florence Li becomes weak when she faces Brian talking about her son. Her tone suddenly softens, “Let me stay with Nelson, after all it is the special period, and he needs me.” Her eyes look solicitous. “Little boy is OK, and it’s just a fever.” His tone is kind of sharp. “If you still want to see your son, please learn to be obedient. I don’t like people who are always against me, understand?”Li is interrupted by Brian, although she doesn’t finish speaking. “Nanny Liu, take good care of this little boy. If there is something wrong with him, you’ll be dismissed immediately.” Nanny Liu promises in horror. Brian coughs suddenly, and he puts his hand in front of his nose. It seems that he has a cold. The man turns and walks inside without waiting for Florence to say any more. “Brian!” Li almost jumps in anger. She is shouting his name behind him, about to catch up but Rodney stops her. He shakes his head at her, indicating that it is not a good opportunity.

Fortunately, Nelson’s cold comes fast and goes fast, too. Li stops the doctor and asks about the situation the next day, then she puts her heart at rest. As requested, she goes to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, but doesn’t meet Brian. Rodney happens to come in with a pile of documents in his hands, therefore, Li asks him. “Mr. Si has something to do today. He may not come back at once. Miss Li, you can stay with the young master for longer.” Rodney says with a smile. Florence Li feels relaxed immediately, “thank you”, her eyebrows bend.

In Su’s family, Brian sits beside Tabitha’s father and has a meal elegantly. He seems to be unmindful, as if he just comes here for a meal. However, Tabitha is keenly aware of the difference today. Since her sister’s accident, Brian has taken special care of Su’s family. They are also familiar with each other. These years, her love for Brian is all on her face. People all think she will be Brian’s wife and the mistress of Si’s family in the future. Brian calls her that he has an announcement to make. Tabitha thinks there is no other possibility except for a proposal of marriage. The very thought makes her feel so bashful that she blushes suddenly. She is really looking forward to the announcement.

Tabitha’s parents exchange a look with their daughter, and their faces are full of joy. After the meal, Brian sits on the sofa with his long legs crossed. He just sits there and people around can feel an invisible sense of oppression. Tabitha’s father pours tea for him, and her mother is busy preparing fruits. Tabitha sits beside him with fingers on her knees nervously. She smiles naively and asks, “how can you find the time for dinner today, Brother Si?” “Well, I’m not welcome here?” Brian answers in an elusive voice. Tabitha cares nothing about his attitude. She smiles and holds his arm. “Why not? I am looking forward to seeing you all the time.” Brian pushes her hands away in a casual way and slowly lays the tea on the table.

“I’m here today to announce just one thing.” The three members of Su’s family are waiting for his announcement with a smile. “The child I put here several days ago is mine. In order to give him a proper identity, I will find time to hold a conference to disclose it.” What he just said is semi-serious, but just like a bomb dropped in Su family. They are all shocked. If he discloses the child’s identity, Florence Li’s will also be known by others! It means there is no business with Su’s family, isn’t there? Tabitha’s face grows pale. She clenches her lips tightly and grasps the sofa with her hands firmly.
