Chapter 97: Assassinated in the Night

As he thought about the Feng family’s Second Miss returning home and the family’s support in general, he had no choice but to bear the humiliation. Once he became powerful, he could throw this woman away at any time.

Feng Xiang was afraid that Feng Xiuyu might ruin his plans, so he instructed, “Jiayi, put her in another courtyard and don’t let her come out until she’s all healed up. She screamed and broke things the moment she woke up every day, causing her wounds to split open. Xu Jiayi had no choice but to feed her sleeping pills for the next few days to force her to rest.

The frigid wind blew in the night, and the bright moon hid part of itself behind the dark clouds as if peeking at this dark world below. A mysterious shadow leaped up, landed in Heavenly Phoenix Court, and listened for any noises. After that, the shadow opened the door and went in, raising a sharp sword that reflected the cold moonlight.

The sharp sword pierced right into the bed, but the bed was empty. Suddenly the assailant felt an icy wind behind him. He turned around quickly, but a long whip lashed out around his neck. The heat from the pain was difficult to bear.

A Mid-stage Spiritualist! The man in black was so shocked that he opened his eyes wide and was about to speak when the whip around his neck suddenly tightened. With a snap, the man’s neck broke, and he breathed his last. His eyes were so wide that they were about to fall out of his head, but he died before knowing what had hit him.

Before dying, his only thought was that she was supposed to have been only a First-stage Spiritualist. How did she have the same skill level as him?

Feng Tianlan stepped out of the darkness; the other end of her whip was in her hand. Her eyes were as bright as the stars in the dark but cold and unfeeling.

“He’s fast to act.”

Yunzhu had just left for home, and, immediately, an assassin had come for Tianlan. Luckily, she’d woken up early. Otherwise, she’d be dead by now.

She looked at the dead man in black, then tied the whip around his waist and dragged him outside. Even though she was dragging a corpse, amazingly, she was able to move along really quickly. She initially planned to head for the court where Feng Xiang was sleeping. But, after thinking about it, she turned and headed for Feng Xiuyu’s side of the residence instead. This killer had probably not been sent by Feng Xiang; the only other person who would do such a thing was Xu Jiayi. She took a rope, hung the corpse at the door to Feng Xiuyu’s room, then went back to sleep.

When daylight broke, a terrified scream was heard throughout Feng Manor, making everyone’s hair stand on end. Another blood-curdling scream followed—definitely Feng Xiuyu.

Feng Xiang and Xu Jiayi heard her scream and ran toward her room. From afar, they could see a corpse hanging on her door. They gasped when they saw the dead man’s wide eyes. They were the eyes of a man who had died in vain.
