“Don’t talk about your father like that.”

Tu Xiupei took one look at Xu Jiayi, chuckled, then didn’t ask anymore.

Xu Jiayi watched Tu Xiupei leave and rubbed her temples as her head began to hurt. She didn’t look too well, and worry was written all over her face.

Feng Tianlan had just stepped out of the main entrance when she saw Si Rong get off his horse and run toward her, shouting excitedly, “Tianlan!”

“You came to see Tu Xiuyu?” Feng Tianlan moved to the side to avoid direct contact with Si Rong.

“Why would I come to see that little wh*re? I came to see you.” Si Rong took out a piece of greaseproof paper and put it in front of her. “I went first thing in the morning to line up and buy it for you. It’s still warm. I was afraid it would turn cold, so I purposely put it inside my coat to keep it warm for you.”

Feng Qingling took one look and didn’t mask his disdain. “No wonder it smells so bad. It’s been tainted with the smell of poop.”

“You…” Si Rong’s face turned red from anger, and he glared at Feng Qingling, clenching his teeth as he tried to hold in his rage. He gently smiled at Feng Tianlan. “Quickly, take a bite. You used to love eating this.”

When he’d gone home last night, he had considered matters very seriously. A powerful alchemist wast backing Feng Tianlan. If he managed to gain her favor, then he would also win over the alchemist, which would be extremely useful to him for becoming the crown prince.

“Lan’er…” Si Rong looked at her with deep passion as he called her name gently.

“Si Rong.”

Si Rong nodded and looked at her with anticipation. “Does Lan’er have something to tell me?”

She wanted to say something sarcastic, but after looking at Si Rong’s face, she couldn’t help but curl her lips into a cheeky smile. “You want my forgiveness?”

“Of course! I mistreated you in the past because I was tricked by that sl*t. But now, I know that you’re the one I love the most. You’re the only one eligible to be my main consort and wife. I promise to right all the wrongs I did you in the past,” Si Rong said in what he believed was the sincerest voice he could muster.

“Oh, really?” Feng Tianlan calmly replied.

“Of course. I swear to god.” Si Rong quickly raised his hand.

Feng Tianlan looked over and saw that her carriage had arrived at the entrance, so she said, “If you follow behind my carriage, raise your arms, and yell ‘I was wrong’ all the way to the banquet, then, I might consider forgiving you.”

“This…” Si Rong hesitated. It was already an insult to follow behind a carriage on foot, and raising his arms and shouting that he was wrong was really going to embarrass him. Why should he do something like that?

Feng Tianlan snorted. She decided not to bother with him and started walking to her carriage.

“Lan’er, do you promise to forgive me if I do this?” Si Rong ran up beside her, but Feng Tianlan didn’t even slow down, so Si Rong anxiously raised his arms and shouted, “I’ll do it!”

Feng Tianlan looked back at Si Rong and curled her lips slightly. “Let’s go.”

When Si Rong saw her smile, he thought that he stood a chance.
