Chapter 674 Family Emergency

It’s been 5 minutes since Fu Ling arrived at the restaurant and made an order, but he has since not set his eyes on Xiulan. For a while, he thought he had seen wrongly last time.

He had to wait until his order was brought to him before he asked the waiter some questions.

”Is there someone by the name Xiulan working here?” Fu Ling inquired.

The waited replied respectfully with a calm gaze, “Yes, Sir, but she is away today. There was an emergency at home so she took a half-day off from work.”

Having received the information, Fu Ling waved the waiter away. He didn’t believe that his coming to the restaurant would be futile. After eating, he left disappointed by not seeing Xiulan.

On his way back home, he began to question his reasoning for coming to find Xiulan. He couldn’t clarify the reason he wanted to see her. I mean, she had nothing to do with him anymore, so why was he still interested in her?

Fu Ling only thought that he must have been less busy and so had thoughts that didn’t make meaning. He thought that if he was busy, he probably wouldn’t have thought about Xiulan.

”Looks like I have to get busy.” Fu Ling said and looked out from the car window, only to see the same familiar figure he has been thinking about.

At first, Fu Ling thought he was hallucinating because of the frequent thoughts coming to his head. He had to clean his eyes and look in the same direction to confirm that it was truly Xiulan that he saw.

Xiulan had come out from the pharmacy with the drugs she bought, and she looked very worried while working along the street before flagging a cab down and getting into it.

”Family emergency? Is she sick?” Fu Ling asked himself as his brows furrowed in a brown. Viable lines could be seen on his forehead, signifying his worry and dissatisfaction.

His current countenance was similar to Fu Hua when in the same situation.

Following the cab she got into, would be crazy, and that was what Fu Ling thought. He really wanted to find out where Xiulan was going, but following her would seem like he was out of his mind when he was almost going crazy because of her.

Fu Ling had to divert his thoughts and drive back home. He didn’t know what was wrong with him, but he was thinking of cutting off whatever it was that was distracting him.

When Fu Ling got home, that was when he saw Fu Hua and Jia Li leaving the house.

He heard them arguing before Fu Hua held Jia Li by the hand and guided her outside the house.

Fu Hua wanted to carry Jia Li out of the house to the hospital, but Jia Li said she could walk by herself. While arguing, Fu Hua conceded and held her by the hand.

”Cousin, is something wrong?” Fu Ling asked Fu Hua when they got close to his side.

”We are going to the hospital, Jia Li slipped and fell in the bathroom.” Fu Hua replied. Fu Ling nodded and said a word of comfort to Jia Li before leaving their way so they could pass through the entrance door.

”I told you, I’m fine, there is no need to go to the hospital.” Jia Li was with a frown as Fu Hua helped her into the car.

It was just a slight bruise that formed some minutes ago and added to the red path on her skin due to that place colliding with the floor.

”Are you saying that there is no need to go to the hospital?” Fu Hua asked as visible lines appeared on his forehead. His looks and tone didn’t look like he was in a good mood.

”There is no need. The most we could do to my arm is to use an ointment on it.” Jia Li replied. She didn’t want to make a fuss over a little injury.

Fu Hua ignored her and put his focus on the road. He didn’t want to say anything to her because of how he felt at the moment.

On getting close to the hospital, Fu Hua asked with his gaze on the road, “What kind of result did you see on the test kit to have made you scream, slip and fall?”

This question came as a surprise to Jia Li who had no idea that he knew about her troubles and the pregnancy test kits.

”What are you talking about?” Jia Li feigned ignorance.

Fu Hua finally moved his gaze from the road to her face, “You can pretend all you want, but I saw the pregnancy test kits when I picked you from the floor, so what did the results say?”

’He saw them?’ Jia Li thought to herself in astonishment. Never would she have thought that he would see the kits while in that emergency situation.

The reason Fu Hua saw those kits was because he already had an idea about them, so when he rushed to the bathroom to help his wife up, naturally his eyes would go to them.

”You are not saying anything…” Fu Hua reminded her casually.

Instead of replying to his question, Jia Li threw a question back to him. “How did you know those were pregnancy test kits?”

”Do I look I am ignorant with some certain things? You haven’t answered my question.” Fu Hua insisted that she answered his question.

Jia Li didn’t have any more opportunity to space out or dwell on how Fu Hua found out about the test kits because his tone clearly showed his unhappiness.

She knew that there was a silent disagreement between them since the other day, and it was time to start clearing things up.
