Hearing this voice, Ning Meng Yao could not help but frowned and lowered her head to look at the eyeful embroidered frame. She then helplessly put the embroidery back on the shelf, tidying things up before opening the door.

The door opened and Yang Xiu Er stood on the doorway, carrying a basket on her back.

"Meng Yao, didn't you said that you're going to go up the mountain today? Let's go together," Yang Xiu Er laughed embarra.s.sedly.

Yang Xiu Er met Ning Meng Yao around a month ago, when she heard that there was an orphan girl who came to the village and lived alone at the foot of the mountain. During that time, she was digging up some wild vegetable in the mountain and saw Ning Meng Yao for the first time.

Ning Meng Yao was wearing clothing made of cotton as she planted vegetables in her field. Yang Xiu Er felt as though she was looking at a fairy.

After that, when she came to know Ning Meng Yao and her superb embroidery skill, she started to get closer to her in hopes of learning a bit of such skill.

As she got to know Ning Meng Yao better, she realized that they lived in a different world.

The way Ning Meng Yao ate and did things was beautiful; she also made delicious foods and other things. On Ning Meng Yao's body were all the qualities that Yang Xiu Er lacked.

"Alright, wait for me a little bit; I'll go get my basket." Ning Meng Yao went in her room and took out her basket from debris, leisurely closed the room's door and walked to the doorway to lock the door.

Although Ning Meng Yao's courtyard looked unsafe, but in truth, most people weren't even able to get in unless they hit the door rotten because the vines in the surrounding were entwined with th.o.r.n.y wild roses.

"Let's go," Ning Meng Yao said as she looked at Yang Xiu Er with a smile.

Yang Xiu Er blankly nodded her head. No matter how many times she looked, she still cannot divert her eyes from Ning Meng Yao's smile.

The back of Ning Meng Yao's house was the bottom of the foot of the mountain; both of them didn't spend a long time to arrive at their destination.

It was in the middle of the summer and it had rained twice before, edible fungi were occasionally sighted in the mountain.

Ning Meng Yao and Yang Xiu Er saw those edible fungi and plucked them then putting them in their basket. Ning Meng Yao then realized that the Yang Xiu Er who looked like someone with a good personality actually carried bone-deep selfishness.

After seeing the fungi, Yang Xiu Er would go there immediately, and no matter big or small, every single one was plucked clean into her basket.

Ning Meng Yao only laughed slightly at this kind of picture and did not say anything, although she did went to other places, searching for the things that she needed.

After Yang Xiu Er plucked the whole edible fungi, she turned her head to look at Ning Meng Yao who was not too far from her, a large group of mushrooms in front of her.

Looking at those mushrooms, there was dissatisfaction in her heart. Why didn't she call her?

Yang Xiu Er took her basket and went towards Ning Meng Yao and saw that those mushrooms were still abundant. Hiding her displeasure, she put down her basket beside Ning Meng Yao and said, "There mushrooms are many, ah!"

Speaking these words, Yang Xiu Er's hand began plucking the mushrooms fast. Not long later, the large group of mushrooms was all in her basket. While Ning Meng Yao who found those mushrooms only had little of it.

Looking at the Yang Xiu Er who did not even let a slightly big mushroom go, a trace of displeasure flashed through Ning Meng Yao's eyes, but to her, this did not count as much. She did not say anything, only taking her basket with her to go to other places.

Looking at Ning Meng Yao's behavior, Yang Xiu Er curled her lips, her heart felt proud. So what if she was the one who found them? In the end, it was she who plucked all the mushrooms.

Yang Xiu Er who felt proud did not notice the touch of irony in Ning Meng Yao's eyes. This temperament of Yang Xiu Er's, to her, was like a jumping clown, cannot climb up the mesa.

Although they were in the mountain for not a long time, nearing noon, Ning Meng Yao proposed to go back, while Yang Xiu Er was not willing.

"Isn't it still early? Why do we have to go back?" Yang Xiu Er realized that following Ning Meng Yao enabled her to pluck a lot of mushrooms and wild vegetables, that was why she was not willing to go down the mountain, still wanting to stay for a little longer.

Ning Meng Yao looked at Yang Xiu Er faintly with one eye, the bottom of her eyes flashed, "This much is more than enough for me to eat for a while." That's why there's no need to continue stay any longer.

Yang Xiu Er gaped, really wanting to say that this much was not enough for her family to eat for two days, but what does this had anything to do with other people?

In the end, Yang Xiu Er could only follow Ning Meng Yao's back, but her heart whispered dissatisfiedly. Next time, she definitely had to call Ning Meng Yao to go together.

Looking at the leaving Yang Xiu Er who backpacked her basket, Ning Meng Yao turned her body around and went back home. When she turned her body, she saw a tall man wearing commoner clothes carrying quite a bunch of preys as he walked from the upper mountain down.There were pheasants, deer, rabbits, and many other preys.
