Chapter 100 - Death Walk (3)

Hao Xuan sat in the room with his eyes closed, trying to calm himself down and get in the right state of mind, when he heard a voice.

"If it's too much for you, I can show you how it's done. Give me control for half an hour and I'll finish everything," the voice said. He opened his eyes and saw Mr. Hyde standing behind him in his usual attire and a cane. He looked like an English Gentleman from the 1900s.

"How are you here?" Hao Xuan frowned.

"I'm not, not really. Only you can see me. I'm a part of you remember," he smiled.

"So, interested?"

"Interested in what? Having you control my body? No thank you," Hao Xuan refused immediately. He'd rather die than let him have control.

"Haha, so serious. Fine, you'll need my help sooner or later. It's either me, or 'Him'," he said somberly.

Hao Xuan ignored him and went back to meditating.

"In reality, you should already have enough knowledge about the Dao of 'Force' to break through, but he was being too petty so you have to go through this."

Hao Xuan opened his eyes once again. Mr. Hyde was standing by the screen, looking down. The baby snakes were actually looking at him as well.

"They can see you?" Hao Xuan asked gesturing towards the snakes.

"Of course. They are a part of you, just like me," he smiled and turned away again.

"Close your eyes, I'll help you out this time. You have to be stronger if you want to fight against 'Him'," he said in a low voice.

Hao Xuan hesitated for a bit but still closed his eyes.

"Imagine you're surrounded by rocks. All around you. Try to move them, but not "telepathically", rather think about kicking them away. Just imagine yourself getting up and kicking them away. Feel the force behind the kick, feel the impact. Feel it with your body, your muscles. Keep doing that until it moves and..."

For the next few minutes, he explained the concept of force, how to feel it, control it and then use it. Until Hao Xuan's spirit band vibrated with a notification, "Participant Deimos, your Walk is ready."

There were twenty smaller arenas in the middle of the field, but right now all of them were gone and only a single field of more than 2000 meters was present. It looked exactly like the Colosseum's from earth, with a large circular dirt field and two gates opposite to each other on each side.

The middle of the field opened up and a small stage ascended with a man standing on it. He had short black hair and looked to be about 30-35 years of age. With a strong build and some scars over his face, he seemed like a veteran warrior.

He raised his hand and the entire colosseum of more than 100,000 people turned silent instantly.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, and everything in between, welcome to the 543rd Death Walk of the Mei Kingdom," the silent audience burst out in applause.

"Today's Death Walk is slightly different than the previous ones. I'm sure you all have heard, the challenger is not just anyone this time," the man stopped and looked around for a few seconds to build up the suspense.

"He is the newest captain of the infamous Red Legion, you can simply call him Deimos!" he said while looking up, and a hologram of Hao Xuan's back appeared. Only his long hair and wide back was visible but it was enough to send the audience screaming.

"And not only that!" he continued and the colosseum quieted down again.

"Not only that, but the Honorable Ninth captain of the Red Legion has asked us to up the ante even more. For the first round, he will be facing Nine Origin realm Stage 1 Demon Wolves, for the second Eight Ivory Rams at Origin realm Stage 2....."

One after another he introduced the different monsters up til the 8th round. The opponents of the last two rounds were classified.

By the time he was finished, everyone was speechless. To call this suicidal was an understatement.

"Now let's get started. I'm sure the people at home and everyone here, you are tired of waiting!" With that, he raised both his hands once again and the gate behind him opened as his stage descended back into the ground and the field closed up.

Everyone was watching with bated breaths. Even the little twins at the Khan residence were hiding behind Mr. Khan and taking a peek every now and then.

The Mad Saints, the other geniuses, many of the higher-ups in the military along with most of the kingdom watched on.

The gate opened, and a pair of red eyes became visible. They were about four feet off the ground. A few seconds passed and the distance between them and the groud increased until it was about two meters.

They got bigger and bigger until the creature it belonged to finally stepped out. It looked like a normal wolf but was about the size of a horse. Its mouth was open and more than 10 inch long teeth were visible.

Everyone watching got a sudden chill down their spines looking at it. And then several other pairs of eyes appeared right behind him.

A minute or so later, all nine wolves stepped out onto the field. All of a sudden, the 2000 meter large field didn't seem as big anymore.

"Holy shit, is it normal for them to be THAT big?" asked a man from up in the seats.

"What do you know, it's called a 'Demon' wolf for a reason. Of course, it's going to be big and bloodthirsty," his friend replied as a matter-of-factly.

"I guess. So, where is the guy? His gate isn't even open yet," said the first guy looking towards the other side.

The wolves looked at the surrounding thousands and growled loudly, scaring the people nearest to them.

*Woosh*Woosh*Woosh*

While everyone was looking at the wolves, the sounds of clothes fluttering came, and around the field appeared Six people.

All of them were dressed in full black cloaks that covered their entire bodies. There were four red eyes on their backs.

"The other Captains!"

"Wow! Six of them at once?! And another will come out to fight soon, this is amazing!!"

"Omg they look so cool!"

"I told you it would be worth coming here!"

The crowd broke into a clamor.

They landed on Six pillars and tapped their feet once, their auras surged like tsunamis and the pillars lit up. An energy barrier covered the entire field.

From outside, everyone could see what was happening in there, but for anyone inside the field, it would look like the usual sky.

This was a concealment/protective array being controlled by the six people on the pillars. It protected the audience and made it so the fighters wouldn't be able to see what was happening outside so as not to get distracted.

The six people were, of course, everyone from Third through Eighth.

The wolves were taken aback by the sudden disappearance of the spectators but the gate on the other side finally opened which attracted their attention.

"Look look, he's coming out!" someone shouted as soon as the gate opened and everyone quieted down and looked towards it.

*Tap*tap*Tap*Tap*

Sounds of footsteps could already be heard before he was even visible. There was dead silence in the entire Colosseum, so much so that one could hear a pin drop.

*Tap*Tap*

The sound got louder and louder until it instantly stopped.

"Tsk tsk, you won't do. It's a good thing I asked for more beasts eh?" a voice came from inside the gate.

Everyone was still looking at the gate when they heard the voice echo throughout the colosseum.

A few people wanted to comment on how it was very arrogant of him, but before they could so, a figure silently appeared in front of the first and the biggest wolf.

The figure had long black hair, a white hanfu adoring his massive build and a horned mask on his face. He looked up at the giant wolf and shook his head

"You're strong, but not what I need," he said despondently and black lightning surrounded his entire right arm. He lifted it up and punched the neck of the wolf once and lifted his foot, appearing in front of another wolf.

He repeated the same thing eight more times and then appeared back in front of the gate.

"Next," Hao Xuan said while looking at the gate behind the wolves.

"E-Eh..? Why are the wolves just stand-" someone spoke up but before the sentence could finish, nine bangs sounded one after another and the heads of all the wolves exploded.

Brain matter, pieces of bones and several eyes splattered all around them. The wolves didn't even have a chance to let out a single growl before they died.

"W-WHAT?!"

"Is he really at the Earth realm?"

"How? One punch? Just one punch?"

"Were the wolves drugged or something?"

People started shouting one after another. That was very anticlimactic. Everyone was expecting an arduous battle but they just blew up with one punch?

The truth was, Hao Xuan was already at Earth realm stage 9 before going into the cocoon. And after absorbing everything and awakening his physique and the constitution he should have easily broken through to the Origin Realm. Just his physical body was enough to deal with beasts like these.

"Next! Can we hurry this up please?" he spoke up once again and the spectators calmed down.

"Don't be too proud of yourself. Considering your physique and cultivation, this is to be expected. Don't kill them too fast and enjoy the fights. Feel the force when you push against the ground, feel the air resistance when you move, feel each and every movement," Mr. Hyde's voice sounded in his head.

"Yeah yeah I got it."
