Chapter 142: Winged Tiger

Fang Lin had to take a deep breath as the Wolf King brought them deep inside the Fifth Stage Area. Along the way, countless weaker Undead prostrated as the Wolf King passed by.

When they entered the Fifth Stage Area, Fang Lin felt the powerful death aura emanating from its center. Fang Lin knew that without the Wolf King’s protection, he and his companions could be easily decimated by that aura alone.

“Yip yip yip?” (Where is your house?) Fang Lin asked nonchalantly as they approached the center of the Fifth Stage Area. Even though it sounded a little rude, the Wolf King took no notice of it since it and Fang Lin had just acquainted.

“Ah, here we are already.” The Wolf King tucked its wings as it descended on the ground. As Fang Lin, Mina and Bloodspear alighted of the Wolf King, their mouths dropped as they saw what was in front of them.

A massive winged tiger the size of a mountain lay in front of them. It easily dwarfed all of them, even bigger than all the Fifth Stage Undead combined. Its left front leg was raised high in the air with its claws peeking out of it. Its muscles were tensed, with its winged tucked on its back. But that was not why the trio was shocked.

They were surprised because the winged tiger was not made of flesh, but entirely of stone!

If it was seen by an untrained eye, one would just assume that this stone winged tiger was just a massive sculpture. But with his eyes filled with qi, Fang Lin saw miniature details that seem to indicate that this tiger was actually a living creature.

Fang Lin felt that even the best sculptor there is will find it impossible to make such a sculpture with signs of life. Even Mina and Bloodspear were confused as they stared at the winged tiger.

“What do you think of this tiger?” The Wolf King lost any of its aggressiveness as it asked Fang Lin. Its voice was now laced with care while talking to Fang Lin.

“Yip yip yip yip…. yip?” (This tiger seemed to be alive…. then it was turned into stone?) That was the best hypothesis that Fang Lin could formulate as of now.

“You’re right! As expected of my son!”

” Yip yip…” (Yes.. haha…..) Fang Lin laughed awkwardly after hearing those praises. “Yip yip yip?'(But where did it came from?)

The Wolf King then explained the origin of the winged tiger to Fang Lin and co.

It was said that winged tiger arrived at the same time with the mysterious object that terraformed the Forest of Death. At that time, the winged tiger was still alive and it seemed to be intent to destroy that object.

It was at that moment that the Wolf King was brought back as an Undead by the mysterious object. The first thing that it saw was the winged tiger raising its claws and attempting to destroy the mysterious object.

But then a gray beam of light shot out from the object and hit the tiger. The tiger quickly turned into stone after that.

“What you see right now was the tiger’s last position before it fully turned into stone.” Upon deeper analysis, Fang Lin saw that the tiger’s eyes had the look of indignation as it stared at the center of the Forest of Death. It seemed like even on its final moments, it still wanted to see that object destroyed.

“Yip yip yip?” (What is the origin of that object and the tiger?)

“Actually… even us were also not sure of it. From our birth as Undead until now, we still have no inkling on their origin. The only thing that we know was that these things were those that created the Forest of Death.”

The Wolf King then approached the gaping mouth of the winged tiger.

“Don’t tell me,….”

“Hahaha, come in! This is my house!”

“Yip!” (Why did you use a freaking statue as your house!)

“Why? Its because I am the strongest in this forest. I just deserve to get the best in here!” Fang Lin had no reply for this, since he felt that the Wolf King was really strong.

“Yip yip yip?” (So we will stay here for the time being?)

“Yes you will, but I have some plans for you, my son.” The Wolf King had the expression of urgency as it guided the trio inside the winged tiger.

Fang Lin expected that the inside of the tiger was full of stone organs, but it was now transformed into an open space. Fang Lin realized that the winged tiger must have removed all the tiger’s insides and used the empty space as its abode.

“Now that we are here, you two, the little woman and the spear man should settle down. My attendants will come to help on your needs.” From the tone of the Wolf King, it obviously wanted to be alone with Fang Lin.

Mina and Bloodspear must have realized what the Wolf King wanted as they followed the miniature wolves that fetched them. Both of them wished that at least they can have some decent meal.

As for Fang Lin, they did not worry about him since they trusted his tricks.

Once the Wolf King was sure they were alone, it started the conversation by saying,

“I know that your state will not last for long. Within that time… I will awaken your innate abilities!”

“Yip yip?” (Innate abilities as a wolf?) Fang Lin knew that the Wolf King must have been referring to Fang Lin successfully producing the Undead Wolf King Essence. Even if the Wolf King does not know about the martial art he practices, it must have faintly sensed Fang Lin’s goal.

“Yes, that one.”

“Yip….” (Why do you do all this for me…….) Even if Fang Lin felt the Wolf King’s sincerity, he was still skeptical on why the Wolf King seems to be accepting of Fang Lin even though he was just a good impostor.

“…… I cannot tell you why as of now.” The Wolf King’s voice turned gruff as it seemed to be withholding some of its emotions. “But you must know that I am sincere about me taking you as my son.”

“…….” Fang Lin felt some complicated emotions regarding the Wolf King. Fang Lin can feel the Wolf King’s genuine concern for him. The treatment that he was receiving now reminded him of his father back in the Fang Clan. Even that father of his never gave Fang Lin the same love as the one that the Wolf King showed him right now.

Just as Fang Lin was about to be touched by its sincerity, the Wolf King’s next statement destroyed that sentiment.

“It’s also time to find your mate! I can’t wait for my grandchildren!”
