He had never seen a young girl flaunting such a bright color. He had been so stunned at first, that he wasn’t even sure when and how he had returned to his senses.

They stared each other down for another moment, the air around them thrumming with the kind of tension no one would dare to put into words.

The old lady seemed genuinely disappointed by this. “It’s been hard on you,” she smiled kindly. “Please take care of yourself.”

Yao Tang nodded and pocketed her hands.

She turned and made to leave without bothering to acknowledge Cheng Yan.

He hurriedly got to his feet. “I’ll drive you to the airport.”

The dessert place was located smack dab in the middle of the city, which meant that it was always packed with people. Not only was it sitting in a strategic location, but the interior of the shop also boasted of a unique and cozy atmosphere.

The pair chose a glass booth by the window. Yao Tangcupped her chin with her cold hands as she stared at the city streets below.
