Chapter 157: Dull Flash

Standing in front of the market, Luo Tao looked a little dazed.

Although he had done many interesting things with Mo Yan, he didn’t expect that Mo Yan would bring him to the market one day.

“Luo Tao, why aren’t you coming? What are you thinking about?” Mo Yan stood in front of a fruit stand and waved at him.

“16 yuan. Young lady, do you want a box?”

Mo Yan picked up the transparent box and looked at it. The strawberries inside were red and plump, very tempting. Mo Yan’s craving was aroused.

Pulling on Luo Tao’s sleeve, Mo Yan asked, “Luo Tao, do you like strawberries?”

Luo Tao rubbed his temples at this time and answered, “It’s okay.”

“Yes, boss, a box of strawberries.”

After paying, Mo Yan pulled Luo Tao out. Luo Tao was stunned by her actions.

“Aren’t you going to buy groceries?” Luo Tao asked.

Mo Yan smiled and said, “There’s a lot of smells in the market. You’re probably not used to it. Wait for me outside. I’ll come out after I’m done buying.”

Hearing Mo Yan’s words, Luo Tao opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say.

“Actually, I wasn’t used to it when I first came here. However, after everything happened, I could only buy vegetables and cook myself. I had to be careful with the money I earned. In the beginning, I bought everything in supermarkets. Gradually, I realized that the market was much cheaper than supermarkets, so I formed the habit of buying things in the big market.”

Mo Yan’s expression was obviously calm, but it made Luo Tao feel a trace of heartache.

It was hard to imagine how much she had experienced from being a carefree, naive little girl who was forced into independency overnight and needed to calculate everything to support her family.

Luo Tao grabbed Mo Yan’s hand and said, “I’ll walk with you.”

Mo Yan looked at him in surprise. Luo Tao ignored her expression and walked straight to the vegetable stall.

Seeing that Luo Tao had made up his mind, Mo Yan did not say anything more. Coincidentally, the stall that Luo Tao dragged Mo Yan to was where Mo Yan usually bought vegetables.

“Yo! Yan is here!”

As she spoke, the vegetable seller looked at Luo Tao. When he saw Luo Tao’s outfit, she felt that he looked out of place.

The vegetable seller nodded anyway.

“Auntie, do you have any good vegetables today?” Mo Yan smiled and asked.

“Today!” As she spoke, the vegetable seller took out a few bundles of small cabbage from the foam box behind her and said, “These were sent by my husband in the afternoon. I thought that you might come to buy some vegetables, so I kept them.”

Mo Yan took out a bundle of small cabbage from a few bundles of green, glossy, and watery cabbage and said, “Auntie, didn’t you always get vegetables in the morning? Why did they come in the afternoon today?”

“My husband was delivering vegetables to another shop. They asked for two boxes, but he somehow remembered them as three boxes. He took the remaining box and brought them here. There are only a few left, so he specially kept them for you.”

“Thank you, Auntie! By the way, remember to bring your medicine with you,” Mo Yan reminded her.

She was familiar with the vegetable selling auntie, but once the Auntie suddenly fainted and no one dared to come forward. Only Mo Yan accompanied her to the hospital and paid for the medical fees. This made the Auntie’s family very grateful.

After that, they became familiar with each other. When Mo Yan came to the market, the woman would bring out the best vegetables for Mo Yan to choose from.

“I’ve brought them. My husband has been staring at me every day. It’s very annoying,” the woman said with a smile.

Although she was complaining about her husband, the smile on the woman’s lips never faded.

After picking a few more vegetables from the woman’s stall, Mo Yan pulled Luo Tao inside. There were all kinds of meat available.

Looking at Mo Yan who was greeting people beside him, Luo Tao couldn’t take his eyes off her. She was a shining body everywhere.

Mo Yan kept telling him about the interesting things she had encountered in the market, and also how she met the people selling vegetables. Gradually, Luo Tao seemed to be able to get used to the smell of the market.

Along the way, Mo Yan talked about the whole way, and Luo Tao also listened to the whole way.

“Luo Tao, do you like this kind of life?”

The sudden question made Luo Tao stunned for a moment, and then he nodded lightly.

“Yes, me too. It’s good to be plain and indifferent like this.” Mo Yan sighed.

Luo Tao frowned and said hesitantly, “You don’t like the life of the rich?”

Under the setting sun, Luo Tao looked at the side of Mo Yan’s face. It was quiet and beautiful, with traces of loneliness.
