Chapter 12 - I, your servant, am here
Chapter 12 - I, your servant, am here
Song Xiao tightly gripped the black fountain pen in his hand. It was the one Yu Tang had given to him yesterday. That year when he had unexpectedly been promoted to the Ministry of Revenue, the seventh prince had also sent him a writing brush.
“For you.” Twenty-three year old Yu Tang, dressed in fine clothes and riding a well-groomed horse, had a dignified bearing. He rode past the doorway of the Ministry of Revenue and threw a small brocade case at him, then turned and left.
“Prince…” Song Xiao held the case, mystified, watching that black steed kick off dust and disappear in the distance. Opening the small brocade case, inside was a jade writing brush with violet bristles. The handle was entirely dark green, smooth and round and lovely. It was only after he returned to his home did he discover, at the bottom of the case was a small slip of paper, on it was written ‘Congratulate Junzhu’s promotion’.
Song Xiao was innately intelligent, passing the provincial examination at a young age, and his family had performed his crowning ceremony at fifteen, courtesy name Junzhu.
“…This oracle scripture, was engraved on the tortoise’s shell, during that time the main use was to divine good and bad luck…” The history teacher was a young and pretty woman, wearing a redesigned cheongsam, making it seem like she had returned back in time, lecturing while she walked around the class.
Song Xiao looked at Yu Tang who was still on the page of the ‘Stone Ages’, tore out a small piece from the mathematics calculations paper, then wrote with very small words ‘The history book also could be true’. After writing this, he crumpled it up and tore it into little pieces,
He would never admit to such an embarrassing thing!
During the long interval after third period, everyone went out to play. Song Xiao still sat at his seat, earnestly reading the physics textbook.
“Yu Tang, let’s play ball?” A few boys from another class stuck their heads through the class window and called out Yu Tang.
Yu Tang gestured at them, indicating for them to go occupy a space first, then reached over to close Song Xiao’s book, grabbing him and prepared to head out.
“My god, there’s actually such a matter!” A girl’s voice cried out from behind the classroom. Even though it’s only been two days, Song Xiao had already adapted. The girls here liked to scream in excitement, particularly lively.
A few girls gathered together to look at the entertainment newspaper. One of them secretly turned to look in Song Xiao’s direction, then suddenly realised he was already walking towards them, and was startled. She curled her lips and lowered her head to whisper with her friends.
“I think they’re looking at me.” Song Xiao stopped walking and wanted to get to the bottom of this. After confirming that the emperor had his memories of his previous life, his body relaxed a lot at once, and wasn’t as prudent as before.
Yu Tang, who was still holding his wrist also had to stop walking, then lifted his chin at Dugu An.
Dugu An flashed over to take a look, then came back quickly to whisper in Yu Tang’s ear. Yu Tang frowned and said, “Go and buy one.”
The basketball court was already filled with people. The boys who had called for Yu Tang were holding a ball while waiting for him, and when they saw Yu Tang pulling over the fair and delicate Song Xiao, they couldn’t help laughing and said, “Yu Tang, you received another attendant? This one looks like he can’t endure exercising.”
Yu Tang looked at the boy talking irresponsibly with cold eyes that had no trace of amusement, causing the teasing laughter to come to an abrupt stop.
“You stand here, don’t get hit by the ball. If you’re thirsty then go ask Dugu An to buy you some water.” Yu Tang took off his school shirt and threw it to Song Xiao, exposing the black sports tank top under it.
A youth’s body tend to be more slender, and when Yu Tang was wearing clothes, he also seemed slender. But after taking off his clothes, it was a different story. Streamlined muscles covered his entire body, and even though he was thinner compared to the thirty year old Jingyuan emperor, it was very good looking.
Song Xiao couldn’t resist taking a few more looks, waiting until Yu Tang went over to play basketball to obediently hold his shirt and stand behind the basketball stand.
During the long interval, a few girls had specially come over to watch basketball. The noisy crowd instantly quieted down when they saw Yu Tang take off his clothes.
“Oh my god, who is that guy?” The few girls by the basketball court were taken aback.
“It seems like it’s the class monitor of Special Class One, our monitor had pointed him out to me before.” One of the girls quietly said.
The few of them looked at each other, and then, they simultaneously said: “So—Handsome—Ah!”
There was no screaming, there was no jumping around, and the few girls had already become silly. They had thought that 4G was the pinnacle of beauty in Sheng Meng, they never expected……
Dugu An soon came and respectfully presented a newspaper to Song Xiao.
Song Xiao finally understood what his father had meant about the newspaper.
The paparazzi that had previously followed them with a camera during his discharge, had captured a few disgraceful photos. Naturally Song Zicheng would want to dispose of this, and after learning that it was Qiu Mingyan who had led them, he ferociously made a scene about it, but still found someone to deal with it. That tabloid company had gained profit, so they repeatedly guaranteed that they wouldn’t release this, but it was unforeseen that another tabloid would release it.
The lead story on the front page had the eye-grabbing headline ‘Qiu Mingyan Fawns Over Boyfriend’s Son And Was Humiliated, Other Party Denounces Her As A Concubine’. Below it was attached a large photo, Qiu Mingyan with only the view of her back, while Song Xiao was face front. In the photo, Song Xiao had his chin slightly raised, and because of the problem of the newspaper print pixelation, his expression was slightly distorted, his actions seemingly very haughty.
Song Xiao frowned faintly. Family shames should not be spread around, and seeing his family matters publicized by other people and sold everywhere, this feeling really wasn’t good. It’s as if he had become a clown in a play, standing on stage for people to judge, wantonly made fun of.
A long class interval was still only thirty minutes, and to add on the time it took to walk from the classroom to the field, they couldn’t play for long, but the boys were already very satisfied that they could play around with the ball for a while.
After he finished playing a round, Yu Tang walked over and took the water offered by Dugu An to drink, then sat down and nudged Song Xiao, who was still lost in thought. “What’re you looking at?” He then proceeded to wipe his sweat on Song Xiao’s shoulder.
Song Xiao felt that his shoulder was a little ticklish. When he felt that it was Yu Tang’s breath, he didn’t resist, allowing him to sneakily dirty his uniform. “This tabloid…”
Yu Tang took the tabloid to skim over, then scoffed. “Entertainment gossip, most of them are completely made up.”
Whether it was made up or not, no one really cared, they only wanted to see the liveliness. While returning to the classroom, the people who were pointing at Song Xiao had increased.
On the paper, Song Xiao’s face was very clear, moreover, he had good looks, within the school campus he had attracted quite a few gazes, so it was easy for people to recognise him.
Yu Tang fell into a bad mood after seeing other people staring at his empress, and he raised a hand to throw his school shirt over Song Xiao’s head.
“What’s wrong?” Song Xiao turned to look at him.
“Covered your head for you,” Yu Tang said in a deadpan manner.
“Hehe…” The two of them were on the stairs, and a few girls walking upstairs behind them overheard, and couldn’t help laughing softly.
Song Xiao blushed. This fellow, taking liberties of him in a public area, he didn’t have the manner of an emperor at all! Yanking down the shirt on his head, he wanted to throw it in Yu Tang’s face, but throwing something at the emperor’s face was really too disrespectful, even if he was the empress it was out of the question. Hesitating for a moment, he ended up not doing it, fumingly turning to walk upstairs silently.
Back in the classroom, everyone turned to look at him. Song Xiao rubbed his temple, this really was ‘good matters don’t spread far but evil matters do’. In such a short span of time, everyone had already found out.
That tabloid hadn’t written specifically who Song Xiao was, but the matter of Qiu Mingyan’s boyfriend being Xinghai Entertainment Agency’s president was a story that had been spread out many years ago. Now it was already a public secret, so ‘Boyfriend’s Son’ naturally was Xinghai’s president Song Zicheng’s only son.
“Song Xiao, so it turns out that your family manages an entertainment company!” Liu Lu turned her head to look at him, her eyes shining.
“Oh.” Song Xiao didn’t feel like this was a glorious matter, so he only replied with an ambiguous sound.
“So it’s true, then you must know David! Help me get his signature ba!” Liu Lu took out a small pretty notebook from her drawer, both hands passing it to Song Xiao, “Please please please, I really like him, help me ask for one.”
Signature? Song Xiao was bewildered, unable to understand why this lady wanted Li Weiwei’s signature, perhaps it was how modern people expressed their fondness for famous actors? “I don’t see him often, I’ll help you ask for one if I do.”
“Thank you thank you!” Liu Lu was very moved, excitedly pinching Qian Jiahui a few times.
“Great aunt, don’t pinch me when you’re excited!” Qian Jiahui gloomily said.
However, the other students in class weren’t as open-minded as Liu Lu. Originally, transfer students would be boycotted, and now there was an excuse.
“I never thought he was this sort of unkind person, completely disrespectful to women.”
“Exactly, do you think his family is the type that needs you to kneel if you enter the family?”
“Tsk, whoever marries into his family will be miserable!”
Because too many things had happened in the afternoon, Song Xiao had long forgotten about the ‘battle agreement’, after class ended in the evening he directly followed Yu Tang back to the dormitory.
The moon was in the middle of the sky, Sheng Meng’s four hotties and their lackeys had become statues in the playground under the heavy wind.
Song Xiao had gone to sleep early, and Yu Tang put down the book in his hand, walking over to the side of his bed. He watched as the moonlight casted shadows from his long eyelashes, and couldn’t resist pressing his hands on either side of Song Xiao’s head.
His last life’s obsession, was still his obsession when he reincarnated. He was unable to let go, and didn’t intend to let go.
“Junzhu…” Yu Tang softly called, and this one call contained too many vicissitudes.
You wouldn't recognize me if we had met, countenance blurred by dust, hair washed in frost.
Pursing his lips, in the end Yu Tang didn’t dare expose himself. He had never imagined that he would still have a moment where he was this terrified. He quietly sighed, raising his hand to turn up the temperature of the air conditioner, covering him properly with the quilt, then got up to leave.
Song Xiao opened his eyes and gazed at Yu Tang’s back, softly saying, “I’m here.”
