Gu Jiangxin was a smart man.

If he was to send a mounted painting of this size directly to Mayor Liu’s office, his intention would be too obvious.

If he was to send it to Mayor Liu’s residence, his neighbors might see it and there would be talk. That would, doubtless, deter Mayor Liu from helping him even if he wanted to.

He thought about it long and hard and was finally able to figure out a way to get this painting over to Mayor Liu’s.

His young wife has an aunty who was a language teacher. Lo and behold, she worked at the high school that Mayor Liu’s daughter just started attending.

Gu Jiangxin couldn’t contain himself after he discovered that.

Laying in bed that night and thinking about everything that had happened in the past year, more and more he felt that heaven had been smiling down upon him.

The more Gu Jiangxin thought about it, the more certain he was. He woke his young wife up excitedly when he returned to the bedroom and went over the arrangements for the next day with her again and emphasized her to remind her aunty to follow their instructions to the dot.

Gu Jiangxin went to work just like normal the next day. He only started heading to Mayor Liu’s daughter’s school after receiving a text from his wife’s aunt. He even put on a black down jacket over his suit so he looked like just any other parent.

“I’ve given him a call already and had him come to pick up his daughter today and have a little chat. The terminator will be spraying down our office tonight so everybody will be gone after 5 PM. I have let the terminator know to come after 6:30 PM.

“Mayor Liu told me that he can be here by 6 PM. Just let me know before you take off and I will be back to lock up the office.”

Aunty Liu was very friendly with Gu Jiangxin when she saw him and showed him to the office.

As soon as he heard that, Gu Jiangxin felt that it was all meant to be again.

The terminator could come on any other day but it happened to be the day that he was meeting up with Major Liu!

It would have been odd for him to go anywhere with a scroll holder but, at this school, possibly they even taught traditional ink painting during their art classes, many of the kids were running around with scroll holders in their hands.

He attracted no attention at all on his way in!

Gu Jiangxin felt even more certain and confident.

“Thank you so much for your help, Third Aunty.”

Gu Jiangxin was a flexible man. He even addressed someone younger than him as his elder!

“You must come to our house for dinner over the New Year time.”

He had his wife sent over a 100,000-yuan gift certificate. If all went well and he and Mayor Liu formed a sort of long-term relationship, he would need a lot more help from this relative to connect them and relate messages between them.
