Chapter 47: You Have Only One Weakness

Huo Beichen did not bother to reply the lady, so he hung up the call. He then brought Ning Meng the bowl of noodles that he had cooked her. This was his first time attempting to apologize to someone. He knocked on the door twice and entered the room without saying a word.

Ning Meng and Ning Wentao were practically shaking in fear when Huo Beichen entered the room. At first, Ning Meng wanted to hide behind her father for protection, but Ning Wentao pushed her behind him protectively before she could do anything.

“…”

“Come and eat.” Said Huo Beichen, dumbfounded by the strange reaction he was getting.

“???”

“Is this her last meal?” whispered Ning Wentao.

Subconsciously, he had blurted Ning Meng’s thoughts out loud.

“I’m not hungry,” replied a very frightened Ning Meng.

Huo Beichen became unhappy the moment he heard she was not hungry.

“It’s really delicious, you know…” urged Huo Beichen.

Huo Beichen then walked towards her and ordered, “Eat!”

The fragrance that came out from the chicken noodles slowly made its way to her nose, and her stomach beat the drums of hunger. Feeling hard to resist the temptation, Ning Meng took a look at the noodles. There were a few drops of oil floating on top of the soup, and she could see long strands of noodles hidden beneath the shredded chicken. As for garnishing, Huo Beichen had placed a few coriander leaves above the noodles.

She could not help but start to gulp. In the end, temptation got the better of her. She received the noodles and started eating it.

“Wow! Hubby, this is a delicious bowl! Legendary! The colors and scent of this dish are absolutely amazing! The broth is thick, and its flavor is perfect! Only a man like you can come up with such delicious chicken soup noodles!”

“What kind of legendary husband is this?! Not only is he handsome, rich, gentle, and caring, his cooking skills are excellent as well. All in all, my hubby, you have only one weakness!”

By now, Huo Beichen was immune to her boot-licking, so he decided to ignore her.

“What kind of weakness?” asked Ning Wentao.

“His weakness is me! He needs me…” said Ning Meng in a grave tone.

Ning Wentao could not bear to look at her daughter. He pretended to cough and looked at Huo Beichen.

“My son-in-law, how long do you plan to keep Meng Meng in this room?” asked Ning Wentao as an elder.

“Three…”

“Three days?”

“No.”

“Three months?”

“No.”

“Three years? Thirty years?”

“No.”

“Three hours.”

“She will regain her freedom in three hours?”

“Yes.”

Ning Meng and Ning Wentao were baffled by Huo Beichen’s decision and now assumed that he had forgiven her. He took the bowl from Ning Meng and left the room, leaving both father and daughter staring at each other.

They finally knew he realized that it was just a misunderstanding. Breathing a long sigh of relief, they both collapsed on the sofa and wiped away the sweat on their foreheads.

When Huo Beichen stepped out of the room, he realized that he forgot to get the tray and decided to return. Just as he was about to knock the door, he heard them talking.

“Meng Meng, so… are you still going to get a divorce?”
