Chapter 185: Let’s Go Home

Li Yichen had turned back because he thought he had heard Miss Ning’s voice. He did not expect that he would really see her. She looked delicate and radiant, her skin was unblemished, as she did not need to go through physical hardships in her life. One could tell that she was born into a wealthy family environment.

Her small mouth had just shot poisonous words toward Su Tiantian which had caused the latter to tremble in anger. Yet, the sight of Ning Meng was not loathsome. Rather, she looked rather mysteriously… cute?

She was the one who had advised him not to invest in the 80 million and he had not had the chance to thank her. He took a step forward when he thought about this. Ning Meng retreated slightly when she saw that he was indeed heading toward her, her eyes enlarged in fear. Before she could say anything, a voice called out.

“Come here.”

Huo Beichen was heading over with big strides. Ning Meng’s face lit up with delight and she quickly hid behind Huo Beichen as she grasped his arm. Her ravishing eyes were trying to provoke Su Tiantian as she looked toward her.

‘You have your Li Yichen, I have my hubby!’

When Li Yichen caught sight of this scene, he straightened his back. He then politely greeted, “CEO Huo, nice to meet you.”

Huo Beichen protected Ning Meng as he stood in front of her. After suppressing his fiery eyes, he threw him a dark glare and replied coldly, “Nice to meet you.”

They stared at each other and the tension in the air increased as their eyes clashed.

The onlooking manager was rife with panic. The two bosses seemed to be ready to fight at any time. Would his private restaurant still be surviving if this happened?

The deafening silence between them lasted for five seconds, and finally, Li Yichen initiated a sentence to break the silence.

“I’ll take my leave.”

“I won’t be seeing you off.”

Upon saying this, Huo Beichen held Ning Meng’s wrist and dragged her toward the private room. He was quite angry. He thought that she had run off because she was embarrassed, and yet, she had come all the way here to meet with Li Yichen?

Yet another guy. When he thought about how Li Yichen had looked at Ning Meng, an intimidating aura emanated out of Huo Beichen. He refused to say a single word and furiously stormed into the private room.

Bang!

The room door shut closed.

Huo Beichen turned and was about to explode with anger when he saw Ning Meng comforting herself by patting herself on her chest. She then said in an appreciative tone, “Hubby, luckily you came in time, otherwise, my small fists would not have been able to win a fight against Li Yichen!”

“??”

Ning Meng furrowed her brows. “That really scared me. All I did was insult Su Tiantian with a sentence or two but Li Yichen’s gaze looked as though he was about to eat somebody…”

Huo Beichen was confused. “You were thinking that Li Yichen was about to hit you?”

Ning Meng nodded her head slightly. Her teary puppy-eyes were akin to a fearful small deer. “Yes! When he was walking straight toward me, I saw his clenched fists. They were double the size of mine! I was scared to death! …Hubby, what’s with your expression? What’s going on?”

Huo Beichen’s eyes twitched and his anger immediately subsided. He rubbed her head and said, “Don’t worry, no one can bully you.”

Ning Meng felt that these words were mysteriously sweet and felt embarrassed. “You’ve got to protect me next time, then.”

She did not want to die a miserable death like in the original novel.

“Of course.” Huo Beichen promised.

When they both sat down, the dishes came. The food in this restaurant was excellent and Ning Meng had been starving for a long time, so, she focused on filling herself up. Huo Beichen mostly just accompanied her and stayed silent. He would order more dishes every now and then and the food would be gobbled up in an instant.

After they had had their fill, they both walked out of the restaurant. As they boarded the car, Ning Meng was feeling sleepy.

“Hubby, let’s go home.”

Huo Beichen’s eyes darkened, and he asked curiously, “Which home?”

“??”

She seemed to have woken up upon hearing this.
