Chapter 152: A Pair of Diamond Earrings

At Yuxiu Garden.

The light of the bedroom was switched off, it was a dark, silent night. The moonlight crept into the bedroom quietly through the slits between the curtains.

Ning Meng lay on the bed. She had mixed feelings.

She was not angry at Huo Beichen, but at herself.

What was she thinking about? How could that man fall in love with her?

She had even promised herself that she would never care for Huo Beichen. And yet, why would she return to the mansion just because of what he had said that day.

What did he think she was!?

Ning Meng covered her face with the blanket. She wanted to slap herself.

She forced herself to take deep breaths and suppressed the annoyance in her heart.

How useless!

In actual fact, they were just a married couple on the surface. There was nothing to be upset about.

Ning Meng thought about that when her phone vibrated again.

She picked it up immediately and realized that there were some messages from Qi Shan.

Qi Shan: [Stupid girl! I’m telling you now, you’ve got no more chances.]

[I’ve never seen the boss adore a girl like this. He was quite angry today but his anger disappeared when I told him to buy a gift for the girl he likes!]

[By the way, do you want to know what kind of gift the boss bought for her? A pair of diamond earrings! Each diamond is worth three carats and they’re from Cartier! They’re worth 2.19 million!]

Ning Meng was outraged.

How frustrating!

Normally, she would retort to that kind of message, but today, she just couldn’t find it in her to say anything.

She threw her phone aside and closed her eyes.

Downstairs.

Huo Beichen sighed when he saw that the light was switched off. His face darkened and he said to the driver, “Go home.”

Ning Meng woke up early in the morning.

She had not slept well the whole night, and so, her eyes were rather swollen.

She looked at her phone twice. She had only received a message from Zhen Shanmei other than those messages from Qi Shan. “How’re you?”

Ning Meng seemed all excited and energetic all of a sudden. She replied to Zhen Shanmei with a voice message. “No man will love a good woman! We cannot limit ourselves to only a man! The new man will not come as long as we don’t let go of the past! Who the hell is Huo Beichen? How could I abandon the entire forest just because of one tree?”

She was releasing her anger and said all these things to Zhen Shanmei.

Right then, she heard a knock at the door.

Ning Meng walked over to the door and opened it, revealing the man who had just been scolded by her earlier. Why was he standing at the door?

Huo Beichen was wearing a black suit that showed off his nice and tall body. The dark eyes below his short hair seemed rather cold.

Ning Meng stood up straighter subconsciously when she saw him, and she asked, “Why did you come here?”

She sounded unfriendly.

Huo Beichen could not understand why Ning Meng was having a bad mood so early in the morning.

If anything, he was the one who should be angry.

He had returned happily to the mansion yesterday but had not seen her there.

He had come to meet her today just to give her a chance to apologize to him.

Huo Beichen frowned, deciding not to be angry at her.

He took a gift box out from his pocket slowly and put it in her hand. “This is for you.”

His ears becoming slightly red, he explained, “I bought it casually.”

Ning Meng looked at the gift with mixed feelings.

Just then, the door of the lift opened with a ding.

Zhen Shanmei appeared and she was looking down at her phone, listening to the voice message which Ning Meng had sent to her just now. As she was holding the phone in her hands, Ning Meng’s voice message was heard throughout the entire floor. “…The new man will not come as long as we don’t let go of the past! Who the hell is Huo Beichen? How could I abandon the entire forest just because of one tree?”

Huo Beichen was stunned.
