Chapter 778: Old Gigolo

In an apartment on the sixth storey of Guo Mao Building, Guan Jiping ended the call with Huang Zhishu. Right after, a middle-aged woman with a powerful charisma walked out of the bathroom. She was dressed in a bathrobe. “Who were you on the phone with?”

The woman was born with a squarish jawline, bushy brows and a high nose bridge. Her lips were very thick and there was even a small dent on her face. Her five features, when put together, were especially hideous.

Her skin was tanned from the frequent exposure to the sun. Her body was firm and her gaze was stern. With one glance, it was obvious that she was an escaped convict who was more than capable of murder.

Guan Jiping smiled at her gently. His gaze was filled with love when he looked at her. “I’m a delivery man. Earlier, a customer called to ask why their parcels weren’t delivered yet.”

The woman approached Guan Jiping’s side and sat down on his lap coquettishly. “Was it a man or a woman?”

He gently caressed her damp hair. “It was a woman. Why? You’re even jealous of a stranger?”

“Hmph.” The woman harrumphed coldly. “It’s rare for me to visit. I’ll kill whoever dares to disturb us!”

“Don’t worry.” Guan Jiping replied dotingly. “You’re the only person in my heart. How could I possibly allow a stranger to interfere with our reunion?” He watched her lovingly. “Your status is unique. For your sake, I never got married despite my old age. Moreover, I’ve never been with any other woman. I’ve devoted my entire heart to waiting for you.”

When the woman heard this, the murderous intent in her gaze dissipated slightly. She looked at him apologetically. “Jiping, I’ve let you down. It’s been so many years, yet I’ve not been able to give you a child.”

Once, when she had led her team out on a mission, she suffered a serious injury and lost the ability to conceive.

“What’s the need for a child?” Guan Jiping smiled as though he did not mind. “All I need is you. As long as you’re alive, and I’m able to be with you every once in a while, I’m content.”

She leaned against his arms. “I’m often pursued and chased by my enemies. If I spend too much time with you, it will only put you in danger. Trust me. I truly wish that I can always be with you.”

“I understand your feelings.” He embraced her as though he was deeply moved. Away from her sight however, the disgust and disdain in his gaze was plain to see. “It’s more important that you stay alive.”

She pressed a card against his palm. “Don’t do this delivery job anymore. It’s too tiring. There’s some money in this card. You can choose a different job.”

He refused it like he always did. “I won’t touch a single cent of your money. I only have my sincere love to offer you. If I use your money, I’ll lose my last ability to remain as a man before you.”

She was deeply moved as she took the card back and did not force him to accept it. “Alright. It was precisely your sincerity that moved me.” She then took in his common features. “Jiping, you’re not allowed to betray me! Otherwise, I’ll definitely kill you!”

He understood her background. She was cruel and ruthless, and would certainly do as she said.

He was deeply fearful internally, but did not reveal it in the slightest.

“It’s been more than twenty years.” Guan Jiping said with some unhappiness. “I’ve never had any other women but you. Hasn’t my singlehood clearly conveyed my sincerity? What else do you want from me?”

“I was wrong.” She nudged his head close in agitation and kissed him hungrily.

“I don’t blame you.” He returned her kiss for a little while before standing up. He approached the window and took in the sight of the traffic outside.

She saw that he appeared a little despondent from the back and approached to ask in concern. “Jiping, is something on your mind?”
