Chapter 187: I’m Going Back Tonight

Jian Yu was suspicious, but he knew his sister well. She wouldn’t do something so out of line such as bringing her puppy love home.

Wu Shaoqi’s thoughts were not on the two of them. With a worried look, he immediately said, “How’s your mother’s condition? What illness does she have that she has to undergo surgery?”

Jian Yu first pulled Wu Shaoqi to a chair in the corridor and sat down. Then, he said, “Uncle Wu, don’t worry. The doctor said that there’s no big problem. She can definitely recover.”

Jian Yu didn’t mention liver cancer, afraid that it would scare Uncle Wu.

Over the years, their mother had been taking care of the two children alone. If Uncle Wu had not helped them, the difficulties would have been unimaginable. Therefore, other than respect and gratitude towards Uncle Wu, Jian Ai and Jian Yu had long treated him as a family member closer to them than their Elder Uncle and Younger Uncle.

When Wu Shaoqi heard this, he nodded firmly and said, “It’s good that she’s fine.”

Wu Shaoqi was worried about Wang Yunmei, so he had to see her come out safely with his own eyes to feel at ease. Therefore, he sat there and waited with the two children.

Jian Ai and Jian Yu said nothing. They looked at each other and walked to the end of the corridor.

“What young man? Who is it? Jiachi?” Jian Yu couldn’t help but ask Jian Ai. He deliberately lowered his voice.

He knew his sister the best. Not to mention a male classmate, but Guan Tao was the only same-gender friend who had played with her since she was young. Therefore, apart from their cousin Yao Jiachi, he could not think of anyone else.

Jian Ai initially didn’t want to tell her brother about this. After she finds Chen Jin a job and arranges a place for him to stay, he will naturally leave, so no one will know.

Unexpectedly, Uncle Wu suddenly found his way to their home.

“Chen Jin?”

He sounded uncertain because Jian Yu couldn’t tie the dots from his sister to Chen Jin.

Jian Ai only nodded indifferently. “When I went to the bar to look for you that day, I bumped into Liu Yong and the rest. At that time, Liu Yong came up to strike up a conversation with me. Chen Jin was afraid that I would suffer, so he jumped out to help me out. Hence, he offended Liu Yong and lost his job. I saw he had nowhere to go. Furthermore, he fell into this state because of me, so I brought him home to stay temporarily.”

Jian Ai told a story, but it was not considered a lie. At most, she hid the fact that she sought revenge on Liu Yong and beat him up.

However, Jian Yu was stunned by these words. After a while, he came back to his senses and asked with concern, “Are you okay? Did Liu Yong bully you?”

Jian Ai shook her head. “I’m fine. It was outside the bar. There were many people, so he didn’t dare to go overboard.”

Jian Yu heaved a sigh of relief and nodded gently.

Jian Yu and Chen Jin had worked together at Starlight Bar for over a year. He was a year younger and usually called him Brother Yu. Hence, Jian Yu knew a bit about him. He had blond hair and looked like a gangster, but was actually very honest in his bones. He gave the money he earned every month to his sister, who was studying, as her living allowance. This was very similar to his situation, so the two of them had always been on good terms.

But even so, his sister was a girl, after all. There was no one else at home. As her brother, Jian Yu was still worried.

“I’m going back tonight,” Jian Yu said.

Jian Ai nodded and did not object.
