Chapter 169: Call Him Husband?

Chi Shuyan stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows on the 32nd floor and looked down at the expanse that was the capital. As she answered Zhu Bocheng’s call, she listened to the sound of running water in the bathroom. Her mood was quite complex.

Zhu Bocheng was thrilled to know that Sister Shuyan not only came to the capital but had also sent him a bag of spirit rice before coming. He said a lot of grateful words.

He didn’t know the value of this bag of spirit rice before, but now that he knew and Sister Shuyan was generous enough to give him a bag, Zhu Bocheng was beyond grateful. Chi Shuyan wasn’t at all interested in the picture Zhu Bocheng painted. While she couldn’t imagine marrying that man Qi Zhenbai, let alone having several kids, she was pretty impressed by Brother Zhu’s imagination. Helpless, she teased, “Forget that. In the future, when I’m down and out, just give me a few more red envelopes.”

“With your husband around, it’s near impossible for you to fall into dire straits. Sister Shuyan, do you know how much your husband Zhenbai earns a year?” Zhu Bocheng said an astronomical figure, and before Chi Shuyan could react, he himself couldn’t help cursing first before he continued, “So with your husband’s ability to make money, you still want to fall into dire straits?”

Chi Shuyan sucked in a cold breath of air, shocked by Qi Zhenbai’s ability to make money, and then was struck dumb by Zhu Bocheng’s matter-of-fact way of calling Qi Zhenbai ‘your husband.’

How come she didn’t know that she had gotten married?

Zhu Bocheng’s mouth was dry from talking. When he didn’t hear anything from the other side, he thought it was a bad signal at first. Looking at the screen of his phone, which was still on the call, Zhu Bocheng hurriedly asked, “Sister Shuyan, are you there? Can you hear me?”

Chi Shuyan choked for a long time before she forced out a word. “Yes!”

“It’s good that you’re there. I thought there was no signal!” Zhu Bocheng said.

Chi Shuyan was mentally exhausted; she really didn’t want to talk to Brother Zhu anymore. To avoid his matter-of-fact “your husband,” Chi Shuyan gave him the delivery number and was ready to hang up immediately.

Unfortunately, her hand slipped and the phone suddenly fell to the floor and switched to speaker. Zhu Bocheng’s loud and cheerful voice sounded in the empty living room. “Wait, Sister Shuyan, when you and Zhenbai are ready to come and see my grandma, ask your husband to give me another phone call to let me know!”

Chi Shuyan was just about to pick up her phone, when she saw the man not far away. He had just showered and was only wrapped in a towel, his hair still dripping wet. Her expression turned awkward and stiff, and she instantly hung up the second she saw him. The man curled his lip and his gaze was fixed on her as he said softly, “Your husband?” After a pause, the man’s tone suddenly changed and he seemed to be in a good mood as he asked, “Is that what you call me in front of Bocheng?”
