Chapter 159: The Magical Effect of Spirit Rice

Mother Zhu wanted more. She couldn’t wait to go broke and spend all her money on this rice. It was simply a tremendous miracle that her mother, who had terminal stomach cancer, could recover after eating this rice and without taking any medication.

Mother Zhu hurriedly picked up the call and told Zhu Bocheng to stay put and not move. “Chengcheng, your grandpa is calling. Mom will answer the call first!”

Only then did she get up to answer the phone. “Dad!”

Father Zhou was no less excited than Mother Zhu at that moment, and maybe even more so. Father Zhou now confirmed that it was the rice sent by his daughter. Ever since his daughter sent him the rice, Mother Zhou’s appetite improved.

Thanks to their daughter, Mother Zhou loved to eat this porridge. Every time it was cooked, Father Zhou would eat it with her. So these days, not only did Mother Zhou’s health improve noticeably, even Father Zhou’s physique improved. Although Mother Zhu had heard that her mother had recovered from her illness, she was still in a daze when she heard from Father Zhou that her mother’s late-stage stomach cancer really had disappeared, just like that, and she couldn’t react for a while.

After some time, Mother Zhu replied, “Dad, it was Chengcheng who bought that bag of rice. I… I’ll go ask that kid where he bought that treasure from right now!”

Father Zhou replied, “Okay, bring Chengcheng over to see his grandma the day after tomorrow.” He paused, then suddenly said, “This child has always been obedient. Talk nicely to Chengcheng and don’t scold him anymore!”

Mother Zhu thought in her heart that her son wasn’t worthy of the word ‘obedient.’ Although she thought so, she quickly agreed. “I understand, Dad!”

After hanging up, Mother Zhu went over anxiously to her son and hurriedly asked, “Chengcheng, where did you buy that bag of rice from before? Hurry and tell me! That’s right, can you still buy it? Am I delaying you from getting more by talking to you now?”

Zhu Bocheng stared blankly at his mother who was itching for him to immediately buy more rice. His mind was still blank and he had yet to snap back to reality. Mother Zhu was afraid that her son didn’t know what a good thing he had gotten, and she quickly recounted her mother’s recovery from eating the porridge.

Zhu Bocheng was in fact still very close to his grandma. He also knew that his grandma had terminal stomach cancer. If it wasn’t for the mishap with Qi Hao and the other rascals, he would have been spending time with his grandma now.

So, when he heard that both his mother’s hand and his grandma’s illness had been cured because of the bag of rice that he had bought, Zhu Bocheng was stupefied. He even thought that his mother was joking with him.

His grandma had a terminal illness; it wasn’t a minor cold.

Zhu Bocheng didn’t believe it at all, but his mother didn’t look like she was joking at all. Besides, his mother wouldn’t joke about his grandma’s illness.

After listening to his mother’s explanation, he was taken to see his grandma a couple of days later. He heard that the hospital had confirmed that his grandma hadn’t been misdiagnosed, and the entire hospital was in an uproar because of his grandma’s recovery. If the hospital hadn’t kept a lid on the news, his grandma’s recovery would probably have made the headlines by now.

Zhu Bocheng’s lips trembled. He had to believe his mother’s words now.

Spacing out, he suddenly remembered the bag of rice which he had asked Sister Shuyan to send to him some time ago. Back then, he had just been a glutton and hadn’t thought much of it. After waiting for a few days and seeing that Sister Shuyan hadn’t sent it, he thought she had forgotten.

Who would have thought that his mother had sent the rice from Sister Shuyan to his grandma?
