The crackling sound of fireworks woke Bai Weiwei abruptly, causing her to sit up.

She blinked, why was everything red?

Is it another intense scene full of blood again? 

When looking again she discovered a red veil covering her sight, as well as being dressed from head to toe in a heavy red wedding gown.

Bai Weiwei tried to call the system. The system didn’t respond, once again lagging, Bai Weiwei decided to stay put.

Outside the bridal sedan, the matchmaker’s voice echoed anxiously, “Why hasn’t the groom come and lit firecrackers to welcome the bride, and why hasn’t the little girl who leads the bride from the sedan chair arrived as well? Isn’t this what the groom’s side should have prepared?”

Little… girl?

Bai Weiwei searched for a while in her memory.

She then recalled that in ancient weddings there really is a young girl who leads the bride out of the sedan chair of about 5 or 6 years old, similar to the modern day flower girl. 

What kind of play is it this time?

Bai Weiwei waited calmly, since she did not know what method to use in capturing the target, also not knowing what kind of temperament he had.

Her mind drifted away as she stared at her veil.

She wondered whether the system ate too much and got fat so it couldn’t keep up with her soul. She also hoped that she wouldn’t have to encounter such intense and deep-seated hatred and so on again in this plane.

Having such enmity with the male protagonist everyday tires her out.

Suddenly, Bai Weiwei heard the urgent sound of horses’ hoofbeats approaching. Then came the noise of screaming crowds, as hoofbeats headed straight towards the palanquin. And, just like a sharp blade, it cut right through the red festive scene.

Bai Weiwei just felt that the hoofbeats sounded very chaotic so it should probably be a whole group of horses dashing over.

The chair she was sitting on started shaking.

She raised her head and didn't move, calmly waiting.

Who knows how much time passed.

In fact…. the unchanging must change. It’s just that now she doesn’t know how to change even if she wants to. Bai Weiwei is afraid that if her personality change is too abrupt, she won’t be able to achieve her mission. 

All of a sudden a clear sound of a whip entered her ears.

Neat, clean, and loud, just like a nice slap on the face.

The linen curtain of the sedan chair, in an instant, was shredded by the whip. Bai Weiwei knit her brows, still not moving. The next lash headed straight for her face.

Just when Bai Weiwei was about to dodge, a clear system warning sounded in her ears.

As it grabbed her attention, it was too late to dodge. There was no other choice but to bear the whip which was coming head on. 

Unexpectedly, the force of the whip was light, the end of the whip just sweeping the veil off her head.

Bai Weiwei looked up with a pair of eyes as clear as a spring, the dark pupil containing flecks of purity. 

Just like that her eyes bumped into another pair of eyes, a cold look staring at her.

The man came on horseback, his handsome and heroic face under the sun without the slightest degree of warmth.

He was elegantly dressed in military uniform, bayonet at his waist, black boots and shining spurs, the whip in his hand giving off a sense of lethality.

Before even passing through the door, the veil flew off.

This is a big taboo.

“The bride’s veil, chase after it quickly,” howled the matchmaker.

 A smile appeared on the man’s face, but at the same time, it wasn't a smile. His eyebrows creased ominously.

As if stepping through blood and bones, he approached.

With a sudden twist, he whipped the matchmaker’s mouth.

Then, he murderously said: “Who dares to chase.”

Provocatively, he looked towards the bride inside the bridal sedan.

Bai Weiwei was dressed in red, with a palm-sized face, white with powder, just like a budding flower on a branch.

Her eyes surprisingly held not the slightest bit of fear.

Instead, with hints of innocent curiosity, her pair of black obsidian-like eyes stared at him in a daze.
