Upon hearing this, Shi Beiyu let out a soft snort. “If adhering to their intentions would break her heart, I’d rather not do that.”

Huo Sikai tutted as he shook his head. Then, he looked at Shi Beiyu in shock. “It looks like the poison is stronger than I thought. You’ll only draw yourself to nothing but trouble.”

Shi Beiyu said indifferently, “They don’t have to like the person I like.”

Huo Sikai was speechless. “But… As long as the Old Master and the others are against it, your relationship with Little Siyin will never work.”

Shi Beiyu looked unruly. “I call the shots for my own wedding.”

“Forget about it. Anyway, I don’t think you should make things so sour between you and your family. It won’t benefit you in any way either. If they disagree with it, you should have a talk with them. Don’t be too stubborn.

Shi Beiyu smiled faintly in reply, to which Huo Sikai said again, “But how did Little Siyin get into the hall that night? Who brought her there?”

The thought of this made Shi Beiyu mad, and he grunted softly. “It’s all because of her cousin from the Lu family.”

Huo Sikai was stunned to hear this, but he eventually tutted. “See! I told you to be cautious of her cousin, yet you didn’t listen. He’s causing trouble now, eh?”

Shi Beiyu was speechless. “It’s not as sexual as you think it is.”

Lu Jingchen brought Mu Siyin to the party that night because he was worried that she might be cheated on and hurt. It was nothing as incestuous as Huo Sikai made it.

Shi Beiyu scoffed. “Then she should put her attention on other people who are available.”

Shi Beiyu lifted an eyebrow. “What has that got to do with me?”

Huo Sikai was speechless. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. It has nothing to do with you. You only care about loving your Little Siyin.”

Shi Beiyu smirked. “Of course!”

Huo Sikai raised a hand. “Don’t feed me that lovey-dovey cr*p. Piss off!”

Shi Beiyu snorted softly before he looked at Huo Sikai to say, “When will she wake up?”

Huo Sikai stood up from the sofa in annoyance. “Don’t worry about it. Why are you panicking so much over a simple fever and cold? You really do blow me away!”

Noticing that Huo Sikai was packing up to leave, Shi Bei smiled as he raised an eyebrow. Then, he asked, “Are you not staying for tea?”

Huo Sikai grunted. “You’re not asking me to stay for tea. You’re obviously trying to feed me more of your lovey-dovey stuff! I’ve still got some work to do at the hospital. I have to go.”

Shi Beiyu chuckled softly and stood up. “Let me see you off.”

Huo Sikai immediately teased him. “Jeez, look who finally grew some conscience!”

After sending Huo Sikai away, Shi Beiyu sighed softly before he headed upstairs again.

As he saw how peacefully asleep Mu Siyin was, helplessness washed over him. There goes his plan of having candle-light dinner and sex tonight…
