Chapter 158: She Had Already Fallen For Him

Shi Beiyu kissed Mu Siyin lightly on her forehead before he stood up and left.

After she heard the door shut, Mu Siyin knitted her brows furiously.

Although she believed in Shi Beiyu, Lu Jingchen’s words stabbed at her heart like a needle. She felt terrible whenever she thought of what he told her.

What would Shi Beiyu do if his mother and Old Master Shi insisted on the engagement?

Her cousin must have thought about it for a long time before he called her and asked her to end her relationship with Shi Beiyu.

However… How could she do that?

She did not have the heart to do that.

She had initially held out the relationship because she was grateful towards Shi Beiyu, but now, she was sure that she had already fallen for him.

He was dominant and pushy, yet he was extremely gentle too. How could she push him away?

The first thing Shi Beiyu did when he got to the study was dial Yan Ze’s number.

“Get someone to look into Mu Siyin’s day at the office today.”

His instincts told him that something had happened.

Yan Ze understood his task and replied, “Yes, sir.”

After ending the call, Shi Beiyu took a few deep breaths.

‘When will you open your heart to me, Yinyin?’

The next morning, Shi Beiyu sent Mu Siyin to work as usual.

As she got out of the car, Shi Beiyu suddenly called out, “Yinyin…”

However, Mu Siyin took a step ahead of him and said, “Oh, yeah. I wanted to tell you something. Tonight… I’ll be heading back to the Mu family, so you don’t have to pick me up.”

Shi Beiyu paused for a moment but eventually nodded his head. “Okay.”

Mu Siyin’s heart clenched at his reply.

He would never have agreed to this usually. However, he agreed to her that day.

She pressed her lips together and nodded her head. “I’ll head up first. You should head to your company too.”

“Yeah.”

With that, Mu Siyin turned around. Her legs were so heavy that they no longer felt hers.

Her mind was in a mess.

She tried her best to stop herself from overthinking. It was Old Master Shi’s 80th birthday, and Shi Beiyu must be present at the scene. Moreover, his mother was the one who had planned for the engagement. It had nothing to do with him.

Just like that, she spent another day in a muddle.

As the time ticked, her heart tightened even more in fear.

She could not help but wonder what kind of women Shi Beiyu would meet that night? Would he meet someone he liked, or would one of the girls get the green light from Mother Shi? Too many thoughts were spiraling in her mind.

She was in the midst of her thoughts when her phone suddenly rang. How she hoped that it was from Shi Beiyu. However, reality proved that it was not.

It was Lu Jingchen.

She did not manage to answer at the first ring.

When it rang a second time, she lifted her finger to answer the call.

“Cuz.”

“Where are you, Yinyin?”

Mu Siyin said bitterly, “The company.”

Lu Jingchen immediately said, “Get down. I’m waiting for you downstairs.”

This took Mu Siyin by surprise. “Why?”

“Hurry. You’ll find out when you get down.”

Lu Jingchen hung up immediately after that. As such, Mu Siyin had no choice but to pack up and leave.

She lifted her gaze and scanned around for Lu Jingchen’s car when she got down.

Lu Jingchen rolled down the window and honked at her the moment he saw her.

Having heard a honk, Mu Siyin looked at the other side of the road. As expected, she saw Lu Jingchen.

She quickened her pace as she headed towards the car and looked at Lu Jingchen disinterestedly. “What’s going on, Cuz? Why the hurry?”

Lu Jingchen gave her a look. “Get in. Let’s go.”

Mu Siyin frowned. “Where are we going?”

“I’ll let you know after you get in.”

Mu Siyin could only open the door helplessly. Once she took her seat, she looked at him and asked, “Where on earth are we going?”

Lu Jingchen started the engine and focused his sight on the road. “To attend Old Master Shi’s birthday party…”
