The moment the door was pushed open, Shi Beiyu immediately raised his hands to pull Mu Siyin into his chest.

Then, he glared at Mother Shi, who was standing by his door. He was obviously annoyed when he said, “You should’ve knocked first, Mom.”

He could feel the woman in his arms shaking at those words.

Never in a billion years would Mu Siyin imagine that the She-Devil Uncle Zhong talked about was Shi Beiyu’s mother!

She was her future mother-in-law!

Mother Shi looked at the person, tightly wrapped in Shi Beiyu’s arms, and instantly grew excited.

“I thought you were sleeping alone. I didn’t know that your girlfriend was here too! I’ll just wait outside, then. Don’t take your time getting up, okay?”

Mother Shi was put in a good mood. As she took two steps back, she conveniently raised her hand to shut the door.

Shi Beiyu was twenty-eight years old that year and never had a woman next to him before. Hence, now that a woman had finally caught his eyes and he took her as his most beloved treasure, Mother Shi wanted to see for herself who this goddess was.

After Mu Siyin heard the door shut, she raised her head from Shi Beiyu’s tight embrace.

He did not seem happy.

“What’s going on?” She asked carefully.

Shi Beiyu frowned and sighed softly. He looked at her with a complicated gaze. “Don’t move, okay? Just stay in bed.”

Mu Siyin’s delicate face scrunched up as she looked at him curiously. “Why? But didn’t aunty just…”

“Ignore her. Just listen to me.”

Mu Siyin wanted to ask why but could only nod her head when she saw the determined look in Shi Beiyu’s eyes. “Okay.”

Shi Beiyu lowered his head and pecked her on her forehead. “Good.”

Once he had dressed up, Shi Beiyu headed downstairs, where Mother Shi was drinking tea alone in the living room.

As soon she heard the footsteps, she hurriedly placed down the teacup and spun her head around to take a good look. Though when she noticed that Shi Beiyu was alone, she frowned and said disappointedly, “What’s the meaning of this, Ah Yu? Can’t you introduce her to me since I’m already here?”

Shi Beiyu laughed faintly as he walked up to her. “She just came back from the hospital last night and is currently not in the best shape. I’ll introduce you to her when she gets better.”

Mother Shi became suspicious at his explanation. “Really?”

Shi Beiyu raised an eyebrow. “Why would I lie to you?”

Mother Shi sighed. “Alright, then. It looks like I came at the wrong time.”

Shi Beiyu dropped his eyes in silence.

However, Mother Shi looked at him and said, “Can you at least tell me her name? Which family is this young lady from?”

This made Shi Beiyu annoyed. “Why do you keep pestering me about this, Mom? If you want me to marry a young lady from a prestigious family, I’m sorry to disappoint you. She’s not one of them.”

Mother Shi was a little bit upset but could only go with the flow, considering how determined Shi Beiyu looked. “Alright, alright. It’s fine if you don’t care about status and power.

“But I have to make things clear. I know that you chose her yourself, but her background must be clean, and she must be virtuous to be the Shi family’s daughter-in-law. I don’t want any promiscuous woman in the Shi family.”

Shi Beiyu replied, “I picked her myself. How bad can she be?”

Mother Shi was relieved to hear that.

“Okay. It’s fine if she isn’t.”

Shi Beiyu nodded. “Yes, but please don’t send someone to look into her identity. I will eventually introduce her to you guys when the time is right.”
