Di Qiuhe was not happy with their seats arrangement already, and what was worse now, he didn’t even tell him where they were going, and he was not going to talk to him yet. He felt extremely aggrieved, holding peanuts in his hands and frowning. “XiaoBai,” He said.

He Bai motioned for the driver, made a gesture of silence, turned around and rested on the back of the chair.

He took back his hand, stayed with the supermarket shopping bags, buried himself in peeling peanuts, paying attention of not leaving the shells on the car seat. He was in no mood to see the scenery outside the window.

It was a big bag of peanuts. By the time he finished, it was well past eleven o’clock.

He tied on the plastic bag and only was about to look out of the window then covered with a scarf thrown by He Bai, and a smiling voice sounded, “A surprise for you, cover your eyes.”

The hand pulling the scarf stopped, with the other hand groped forward, he felt He Bai’s soft hair and became calmer, he asked softly, “You won’t run away, Pup, will you?”

“Why, are you worried that I will abandon you in the wild to feed wolves?” He Bai squeezed his palm and saw the shadow of Jin Jiang residential district in front. The corners of his mouth raised. He leaned forward and pulled him over. Then he blindfolded him with the scarf and said, “Don’t move. I promise I’m not gonna traffic you. If you don’t believe me, ask the driver. We are not in a wild place.”

The driver thought they were brothers who were bantering for fun, so he happily cooperated and answered, “If this is a wild place, then the place where I live is a shithole. You may rest assured, buddy, your little brother is not going to sell you.”

“You heard that, big man?” He Bai poked Di Qiuhe on the forehead, took out one of the peeled peanuts and fed it to his mouth. He then ate one himself and pulled his finger with a smile.

Di Qiuhe was so turned on by the way He Bai called him “big man”, he pressed his lips to feel the touch left by He Bai’s fingers, held the hand back which was ready to withdraw, relaxed and began to look forward to the surprise.

The taxi stopped outside the south gate of the residential area. He Bai got off first and took out the shopping bags and other things. Then he went around to the back seat to help Di Qiuhe out. He stuffed several bags into his hands and carried the rest of it and thanked the driver. He tied their wrists with scarves, holding hands in such an offbeat way and brought him into the residential area from the south gate.

It was too late and no one was walking around. Luckily, their strange manner did not attract onlookers.

Di Qiuhe listened to the footsteps in front of him and the rustle of shopping bags rubbing against each other. His lips slowly raised and asked, “Pup, what surprise did you prepare for me? With all that shopping, are you really taking me camping?”

Turning over from the flower bed, the villa was just around the corner.

He Bai looked back at him and answered with a smile, “It’s much more interesting than camping. Besides, we haven’t buy any professional equipment for camping in such a weather. We will definitely freeze to death.”

“It doesn’t matter, I’ll hug you and promise not to freeze you.” Di Qiuhe pulled back his scarf-tied wrist, then stepped forward and hit him on the back with his chest.

He Bai almost fell down. He leaned against his body to stabilize his balance, turned his head and glared at him angrily. “Naughty. You’ll sleep on the floor tonight.”

Di Qiuhe chuckled and replied, “I’d like to sleep on the floor with you.”

“You wish. Okay, stop. Don’t go any further.” He Bai rolled his eyes, stopped and put down the shopping bag, took out the key from the bag and opened the gate of the villa. Then he untied the scarf and led Di Qiuhe in first. He then quickly took two steps outside to bring in the shopping bags. He was so weary that he relaxed his muscles after bringing all these heavy daily necessities in.

“Bai?” Di Qiuhe, standing in the dark courtyard, looking towards where his footsteps disappeared, with eyebrows slightly wrinkled and body forwarded unconsciously, looked helpless to some extent.

He Bai was softhearted by his obediently standing still, even he was clearly anxious, he warmly replied, “I’m here.” He took the shopping bags from his hand and put them on the ground, then took his hand and led him to the door.

“Does it matter that we leave the bags here?” Di Qiuhe asked, yet he held Bai’s hand tightly and had no intention of picking the bags up again.

“It’s OK.” He Bai replied, with his other hand took out the key of the door from bag, inserted it into the lock hole, and slowly twisted. He turned his head sideways, looking at the beautiful face and said with a smile, “Qiuhe, don’t cry.”

Di Qiuhe wondered, “What?”

He Bai did not answer. He suddenly broke free of his hand the moment the door opened, raised his hand quickly to pull off the scarf on his face, and strode into the villa. He turned on all the lights from the porch to the living room, then turned around looking at Di Qiuhe standing in lights at the door, shaking his key and smiling. “You told me your future family plan is me. Now you have the family, I am here too. Do you like the surprise?”

Di Qiuhe, holding a scarf, looking at the bright room and the one standing in lights, was stunned in situ.

From the open living room, which could see from the doorway, to the soft sofa, the dark floor, the plain and elegant carpet, the beautiful chandelier in warm color, the photo wall with picture frames … all the things he had said he would love for his future house, all of which perfectly met his expectations for a home.

“Pup …” He rolled his eyes, his Adam’s apple moved, and his heart stirred. He wanted to enter the dream scene to embrace the person he loved, but he hesitated and dared not come forward. He only held the door frame and looked at all this, fearing that it was just an overly beautiful dream.

He Bai looked at him standing outside the door expecting eagerly but dare not come in, raised his eyebrows, smiled and threw the key over.

Di Qiuhe felt a pinch in his heart, stepped forward unconsciously to pick up the key. He got it while entered the porch, standing beneath the warm light.

“I forgot to buy slippers, so step in. It has just been arranged for several days, you’re back at the right time.” He Bai pretended not to see Qiuhe’s nervousness and bewilderment as he entered the room, turned around and went to the living room to turn on the heater. He took off his coat and said, “We can’t sleep directly with the newly bought sheets. We have to throw them into the washing machine to wash first. Fortunately, I bought a dryer, otherwise we might have to sleep on the mattress tonight.”

Di Qiuhe listened to what he said and carefully looked at the open and warm living room, slowly tightened the hand holding the key.

“I’ll take a shower upstairs first.” He Bai turned around, picked up the camera in his hand and took a photo of him, then put it down and smiled, “Please bring in all those shopping bags outside. Remember to put the sheets and underwear we bought into the washing machine and read the instructions for yourself. As for where the washing machine is … find it yourself.” Then he turned around, humming a song and going upstairs.

Di Qiuhe watched him disappear in the corner of the stairs, looked down at the key in his hand for a long time, raise his hand to cover his eyes.
