Chapter 209: SUSPICION ARISES (PART 7) 1

Ge Chen explained, "There is definitely something wrong with her. Something happened three years ago. I heard the inspector Han talking to her after she was being interrogated. He was in B City three years ago and they met each other. Well, she was well known in the police station because once she helped them to nab some black magicians who wanted to make her and her friends and teachers human sacrifices."

Mu Feng's eyes widened in surprise. "Wow! It sounds like a movie. Who told you that?" He knew there was something odd about Xue Lin but he could never pinpoint it. After knowing this information, he became even more curious about her.

Ge Chen declared, "She got kidnapped by that black magician."

Mu Feng almost jumped in shock. "What the hell? What happened then?"

Lu Feng and Mu Liang were also bewildered. Disbelief formed in their eyes.

Ge Chen noticed it but he couldn't blame them. He also could understand how absurd he sounded. He opened his mouth and described, "He and his followers… all died. Truth be told, they were sliced into pieces in the most vicious way and then, they were burned. Only their heads were found."

"What are you…?" Lu Feng wasn't able to finish his words. He was speechless.

Mu Feng questioned his friend, "What about her?"

Ge Chen answered, "She was badly injured. Apparently, she cannot remember what happened because she lost consciousness when she was at the altar."

Mu Feng frowned. "What altar?"

Ge Chen paused before saying, "The sacrificial altar. She was almost killed by the devil's worshipers there."

"What in the world are you talking about? Are you sure it's not a movie plot?" Mu Feng complained.

Mu Liang and Lu Feng agreed with him. It sounded so surreal.

Ge Chen directly looked at his friend and asked, "When did you ever see me joking with this kind of thing? I'm seriously worried about my wife."

Mu Liang opened his mouth this time. "Didn't you investigate anything?"

"Did you think I didn't? I took my special team with me. We searched every inch of that place. Incredibly they didn't find anything. I was also there in person. There was no clue left behind about who and how he or she did this which should be impossible given the carnage that took place there"

"Chen, this sounds really serious," Mu Liang commented with a serious face.

Ge Chen took a deep breath. "You don't have to tell me that. I know how serious it is. After that, I always kept an eye on her. Nothing serious happened ever since."

"If you need any sort of aid, make sure to tell us. We will help you." Mu Liang was ready to support his friend.

Ge Chen looked at the calm ocean and murmured, "What can we, mere mortals, do against dark magics?"

The Tyrrhenian sea was quiet. The white clouds were floating in the light blue sky. Some skylarks were flying as if they were racing with the clouds. It was like a scene from a painting.

The four men were silent. They heard skylarks cry. It made them feel powerless even though they were strong.

After some time passed, Mu Feng sighed loudly and said, "It sounds outrageous but we will do what we can. For a second, I thought I was in a fantasy world. It's so spooky. It's not even Halloween."

"It doesn't have to be Halloween to face something scary," Lu Feng mentioned. He remembered his scary journey in the ocean. He could recall some underwater vortexes and then everything was blank.

"You said something about a police officer knowing her. Why don't you ask him if she had some dark past?"

"I did but he answered saying that since I'm her husband, I should ask her instead of asking a third party."

"He is right in this regard. Try asking her. She might answer," Mu Feng suggested.

"It took her three months to get used to me. I'm not ready to lose her yet," Ge Chen quietly said.

To tell the truth, he was scared. He knew that their relationship was standing on a thread. Xue Lin's trust in men as well as in him was depending on his every action.

He has to be careful if he wants her to trust him fully. He has a long way to go and he is ready to wait for her. However, her secret is haunting him. He is curious to find out everything that has made her different from other girls and made her wary of men.

Mu Liang stood up and stated, "I have to spend some time with my wife now. I will get going."

It's about time," Mu Feng stood up as well. "I need to talk to more guests.'

"I'll check on Yan Su," Lu Feng said.

Ge Chen didn't want to hold them any longer as well. He said, "We can postpone our meeting for later. I will investigate more about the Bermuda Triangle and let you know the result."

"Fair enough," Mu Liang nodded in agreement.

After Mu Liang, Mu Feng and Lu Feng left, Ge Chen took the glass of wine and sipped.

'Liang doesn't know how to lie. As long as someone knows him, they can easily tell when he tries to hide something. His wife must know something regarding Feng's disappearance and he knows it too. But why won't he tell us? Could it be it has something to do with the snake mark?' he pondered.

Xue Lin was enjoying the ocean view after having lunch. She went to the deck and sat on the railing. She stopped counting how long she had been sitting there.

As the sun was setting in the west, the sky and the ocean were dyed in orange. A gentle yet strong breeze was blowing.

Xue Lin's free locks were dancing with the wind. Looking at the sun made her feel better. She felt as though her freedom was back.

Her throat was dry. She wanted to drink something. Just as she was about to get off the railing, she saw a man walking toward her.

Xue Lin froze on the spot and observed him carefully.

That man stumbled on the deck and strode closer to the railing. He was a Chinese man. He had a handsome face with a cold expression. His dark eyes were full of sorrow and anger. His thin, cruel lips were bent down. He looked forlorn and yet savage.

"Married…" Xue Lin heard him mumbling, "She got married… she was smiling… how could she? How dare she? Who gave her the right to get married without my permission?"

Xue Lin's right eyebrow rose. 'Who is he upset with?' she thought. 'Well, it has nothing to do with me. I should get away from this guy before his anger turns on me. I'm sitting in a dangerous place.'

Just as she thought that, she began to move slowly without being noticed by him. She moved her legs and put them on the deck. She took a deep breath and tried to leave when she heard him saying, "I loved you so much and tried to make you understand that I'm the only one for you and yet you chose another man. How could you?" his grip on the railing tightened.

Since the man was standing on her right side, she could see the gold ring on his ring finger of his left hand. 'So, he is married and still lusting for another woman,' she concluded.

Xue Lin couldn't help but saying, "If you love someone, put it into action. Your love means nothing if it's all talk and no action."

After giving her small speech, she turned around and left.

The man turned his head to look who gave him the advice. He got angry seeing a small child pointing out his mistake. He told himself, 'I should look for Xiao Lan. I know she still loves me. I know she will listen to what I have to say. If I tell her to return, she will definitely return to me.'

"So, that small girl is Fa Xue Lin?" Liam asked. "She is all tiny and thin. She looks like a schoolgirl. Are you sure she is the suspect?"

"If you had seen that hill in the forest, you wouldn't have said that," Osiris mentioned while loosening his tie. "I've smelled dark magic there. I didn't purify that yet because we need more evidence. Moreover, a temple needed my help. It's even more suspicious that the dark magic broke at the same time when the incident happened on the hill and she is the only living person who survived on the hill."

"That doesn't make her a suspect," Altan Yul commented. "Moreover, she is our kid's best friend. If something was up, the kid would notice it sooner. She even helped those Mu boys in Paris and Italy."

"You can say whatever you want but something is unusual about her.. It doesn't seem right to me."
