“Patriarch, the punk is only trying to confuse us!”

Baili Yuyun spoke at once, seeing Baili Yutian sinking in contemplation, “The Devil Mountain may be as terrible as he pictures it, but why then is he taking such careful steps with us? Why hasn’t Devil Mountain sent even one elder to guard him? It doesn’t add up. Is the sect that confident their disciple can roam the world all alone? Even as training, there should at least be some hidden guardian watching over him. Here he is, on his last leg yet we see no trace of anyone coming to shield him.”

“Are you saying there’s no Devil Mountain?”

“Exactly, or even if there is, it can’t be as ridiculous as he makes it sound like.”

Baili Yuyun nodded, staring confidently at Baili Yutian, “Patriarch, you’ve been roaming the lands for millennia and yet didn’t catch a word of something so overblown. As sir is the pinnacle of the five lands, if you don’t know its secrets, then no one does. The greatest doubt comes from this kid, being the only one who spread the so-called legend of Devil Mountain. He’s its only disciple we’ve seen for thousands of years. Isn’t that the least bit strange? How can it be just one training outside in all these years? For this reason I chose to cut in. It’s nothing more than a huge lie cooked up by this guy alone to fool all heroes and cover his back.” 

The Invincible Sword’s brow trembled, his face sinking as he glared at Zhuo Fan.

“Quite right, Sir Zhuo, how is it you’re the only one from Devil Mountain in all these years? Are you lying to me?”

The Invincible Sword roared as his fury was evident in his sharp stare, along with the thirst for blood.

Zhuo Fan shook his head, sighing, presenting the Thunder Ring, “Since sir doesn’t believe it, there’s no avoiding a fight. It pains me being forced to end such a good future opponent like this, but it is what it is…”

With regret on his face, Zhuo Fan’s eyes went cold as his ring released a scorching and wild power.

The others’ hearts jumped in their chest knowing a fight would break out. Their fists clenched, their brows sweaty.

None knew just how effective the calm Zhuo Fan was in dealing with the best there was. Anything that might reveal it to be all a lie would doom them all.

The Invincible Sword mocked the energy his ring released, “Again with the Dragon Breath Pill? Doesn’t your family have any other toys? It’s nothing to me!”

“Yes, a Dragon Breath Pill indeed, although mine is leagues beyond that of Qiao’er. Sir better watch it.” Zhuo Fan had a smile plastered on his face in complete confidence.

[Again with the lying? You sure know how to act, humph.]

There was nothing on Zhuo Fan telling the Invincible Sword this was all a ruse, but he still wasn’t buying it.

He was utterly convinced Zhuo Fan was bluffing, so he might as well finish this already.

Well of course there were no tells to Zhuo Fan’s acting, since all Zhuo Fan told was the truth.

The instant he struck, there would be no trace of the old man behind.

Baili Yutian chose to listen to his suck-up adviser instead, now set on marching to his doom as he was ready to strike with the divine sword. 

Zhuo Fan’s ring flashed brighter and hotter as a consequence.

To the unsuspecting old man, this fight about to begin, if one could call it that, was a foregone conclusion. 

But could anyone from the mortal domain take on the full might of a Dragon Breath Pill? Not likely, even if that someone was the Invincible Sword himself.

The wind picked up around them, stronger and stronger, the cold seeping into their bones and making all shiver, even the Invincible Sword.

[That’s cold!]

The experts gasped in confusion. As Sword King level experts, mere cold was a thing of the past, so how come a light breeze got them shivering?

The Invincible Sword was frowning hard, pausing his attack.

“Damn it, he’s here!”

Ouyang Lingtian was the only one aware of the situation, his face filled with fear and shaking like a leaf.

Everyone’s eyes were on him. 

[He wasn’t scared when facing the Invincible Sword so how come he’s panicking now?]

[What out there could be more scary than the Invincible Sword?]

Ouyang Changqing glanced at his dad and asked, “Dad, who are you talking about?”

Ring~

The four divine swords present began to shake in their grasps, in excitement and battle hungry. They were moving so hard they almost flew off.

Everyone looked wide eyed at the wild divine sword swords, with Baili Yutian the most shocked of all, “What’s going on? What did you do to the Sundering Sword?”

“No one touched it, not while you’re holding it!” Ouyang Lingtian struggled to get Heaven Sealing Sword under control while rolling his eyes, “It’s him, the monster is here!”

“Who?” Everyone cried back.

“North Sea’s overlord, the sea demon!” Ouyang Lingtian turned in the sea’s direction, watching as the thick fog engulfed the Sea Bright Sect. Cracking ice was heard as the cold spread and grew stronger, covering half the sect in a thick layer, while the black fog prevented anyone from peering through it. And it was still going.

“Damn, that monster would never attack our sect, not while the barrier was in place. With it gone, he just showed up instantly?” 

All turned north as well, looking startled and shocked. The Invincible Sword was the only one excited, “Ha-ha-ha, North Sea’s sea demon’s reputation precedes him. I’ve always wanted to meet him. I wonder if he’ll fare any better than the 9th level imperial Three-headed Crow.”

[By all means, go for it if you have a death wish!]

Zhuo Fan knew the truth and rolled his eyes. Even so, he gazed at the fog hard, sharing a look with Qiao’er. They both shot into the black fog.

[Heaven Sealing Sea Ao, here I come!]

“Sir Zhuo, don’t!” Ouyang Lingtian cried out, but father and daughter ignored him.

The Invincible Sword followed right after Zhuo Fan.

“Patriarch!” The Sword Kings shouted this time around, though he wasn’t one to listen on a good day, let alone now.

The black mist swallowed the Invincible Sword in seconds, leaving the worried Sword Kings behind.

“Brother Yun, what do we do?”

The other two turned to their elder.

Baili Yuyun thought hard and then flew in the Invincible Sword’s direction, “Our duty is to protect the Patriarch!”

“Yes!”

The others nodded and followed him into the encroaching blackness.

Ouyang Changqing’s team was stumped. What now? Their enemies just ran off.

Having lost their target, they just stood there lost, without meaning or purpose.

Ouyang Lingtian, the only one knowledgeable here, looked at the swiftly encroaching darkness and said, “Don’t just stand there and flee! Once the mist takes you, there’s no escape.”

“Then brother Zhuo…”

“Sir Zhuo came to the North Sea for the sea demon. The rest is up to him!” Ouyang Lingtian sighed and turned to the juniors, “Go, I’ll use the Heaven Sealing Sword to stop the black mist from taking you! The sea demon is unlike the Invincible Sword, harder than you will ever know, now run!”

Ouyang Lingtian carried his wounded body as he flew for the black mist.

“Father!” Ouyang Changqing cried out, but he was gone.

The other two old timers shared a nod and spoke as they flew, “We’ll lend brother Ouyang a hand. All of you need to leave!”

“Brother!” Murong Xue shouted after him, but darkness already took him.

The juniors looked at each other with clenched teeth, resolved to run away.

They could not let their seniors’ effort go in vain. 

Zhuo Fan felt like he entered a new world, one of snow, ice and water. 

“Is this Ice Mountain?” Zhuo Fan was stern as mist formed while he was speaking.
