Chapter 9: Feed Me

Uh… She’s cooking for me? Why does this sentence sound so ambiguous? Bai Ran thought to herself.

Chen Chen looked up and saw Bai Ran. There was a hint of displeasure in his eyes as he said, “There was a man looking for you. You heard him just now, right? Find him later.”

“Okay,” Bai Ran replied silently, not daring to think too much about it.

Bai Ran was holding a spoon and staring into space. However, Chen Chen opened his eyes and ordered, “Feed me.”

“That’s not good. If Sister Wan finds out, what will she think? Besides, we’ve already signed a divorce agreement. We shouldn’t be doing such an intimate thing.” Bai Ran was a little hesitant.

“Who said so? I didn’t sign it,” Chen Chen said angrily.

“I…” Although Bai Ran was still hesitating, she still sat down obediently.

“Be careful. I just filled it up, it’s a little hot.” Bai Ran scooped a small mouthful and placed it by her mouth to blow at it gently.

Chen Chen looked at Bai Ran and suddenly felt that this kind of life seemed pretty good.

Bai Ran brought the spoon to Chen Chen’s mouth and fed him slowly. Chen Chen enjoyed it happily. No one noticed that the smile in his eyes never disappeared.

After eating, Bai Ran found a wet towel and put it on him. She also found a blanket and covered him with it, waiting to observe the situation. If his fever still did not go down after a few hours, she had to go to the hospital with him.

As time passed, the two of them remained silent. Bai Ran felt that it was good even if she had to look at him like this for the rest of her life.

Unfortunately, a ringtone broke the silence.

Bai Ran glanced at it. It was Chen Chen’s phone. The caller on it was Hu Wan.

Bai Ran smiled bitterly. Reality was still reality.

The warmth from before was just an illusion.

Chen Chen had also been woken up by the call. He woke up in a daze. When he saw that it was Hu Wan on the phone Bai Ran handed him, he immediately sat up. He did not look weak at all and did not even care that the wet towel on his head had dropped.

Bai Ran picked up the wet towel silently, feeling even more upset. As long as Hu Wan appeared, he really could not care less about anything else.

Hu Wan’s voice came from the other end of the line. She whined and pestered Chen Chen to look for her. She kept saying that she was not feeling well here, that she could not sleep well, and so on. She was no longer as gentle and generous as she was when she was with Bai Ran that day.

The current her was more like a pretentious little girl.

But she’s a patient. She has a reason to be like this, Bai Ran thought silently.

After Chen Chen hung up, Bai Ran said sensibly, “Go quickly. Don’t make Sister Wan wait too long.”
