She normally went to the front yard alone, but now she had Sword One, so she always took her along with her. Sword One knew martial arts and she was Lord Huai’s guard. So Madame Gu could do nothing to her when Sword One was with her.

She had just come to the front yard, when Gu Chaoyan found something was different. A few more strangers were there, and they seemed even more arrogant than the servants at the Gu Mansion.

It seemed that the Gu Mansion was receiving someone who had a higher position than Gu Zhenkang.

Gu Chaoyan was still thinking who was on the visit, when she realized what was going on, at the sight of the couple seated at the hall.

Madame Gu waved at Gu Chaoyan with a very loving face. “Chaoyan, come and meet Officer Zhao and his wife.”

“Greetings.” Gu Chaoyan bowed.

Officer Zhao took a look at Gu Chaoyan and sparkles arose in his eyes. He laughed. “Mrs. Gu looks very nice. Rumor goes that you are ugly, but I think that you are very pretty, maybe a little chubby. But we are not a particular family, so you are a good match with our son.”

As he was speaking, Officer Zhao kept sizing up Gu Chaoyan.

Gu Chaoyan frowned. If not for Princess Virtue who promised to deal with this matter for her sake, she would have done that herself.

“Sure.” Madame Gu agreed happily.

As long as they could make the relationship work, nothing else mattered.

“Anything like what?” Gu Chaoyan looked at Madame Gu. “That is my mother’s dowry, I can even sell them if I want to, I am not doing anything improper.”
