Chapter 121: What?!

When Gu Chaoyan woke up it was already broad daylight. She had a very restful slumber. Therefore, Gu Chaoyan had been feeling really comfortable as she opened her eyes.

The first thing that greeted her was Zhou Huaijin guarding her bedside. Zhou Huaijin was still in a purple robe with the dragon pattern of golden thread. Then she looked up and saw a very handsome face. There was no coldness on the face, just a kind of gentle feeling.

Gu Chaoyan suddenly thought of how he carried her out of the office, then she started to blush. She lowered her head and tucked the blanket subconsciously. “What time is it now?”

“Noon.”

The words had just been spoken when Gu Chaoyan felt her stomach grumbling.

The noise made Gu Chaoyan embarrassed, but she was indeed famished.

Back at the Government Office, the fat chief did not feed her. Now she had had such a long sleep that she had not eaten for two days. Gu Chaoyan got very furious as she thought of the fat chief.

Zhou Huaijin smiled briefly. “Hungry?”

“... Of course...”

“The lunch is ready, get dressed and you can have some food.” Zhou Huaijin clapped. Then Qing and a maid from Lord Huai’s Mansion came in, holding the things necessary for cleaning up.

Zhou Huaijin went out of the room.

The moment Qing came in, she almost flung herself at Gu Chaoyan. She sized her up and down. “Miss, are you alright?!”

Gu Chaoyan shook her head. “I am fine.”

Zhou Huaijin’s medicine worked well. The blood had stopped, leaving only a few bruises. The pain wasn’t serious any more either.

Anyway, the wound was so light, almost nothing for her.

Nevertheless, seeing the wounds, Qing still could not help but shed some tears.

She had been worried since the day before. She hoped so much to see how it was going with her Miss, but Lord Huai had been guarding her all the time. She just could not get to see her at all. Now she was finally seeing her miss.

Gu Chaoyan felt her head aching. What was she supposed to do when she ran into such a crying baby?

She got dressed calmly and Qing was almost done crying.

Gu Chaoyan patted Qing’s head in a good mood. “Alright, any more tears, and the whole city would be drowned! Watch out, maybe your tears will make you too ugly to get married.”

“Miss!” Qing stomped her feet. She was so worried about Miss, but her miss was still teasing her!

Chaoyan could not help but burst into laughter.

She was just about to go out with Qing when Zhou Huaijin asked involuntarily after hearing her laughter, “Yan, what is making you so happy?”

The words had just been spoken when Zhou Huaijin saw the two girls who were smiling and crying.

His face twitched.

Qing wiped her tears angrily, oblivious of fearing Lord Huai. With lips pursed, she was behind her miss, looking wronged.

Facing Qing’s anger and wronged expression, Gu Chaoyan shrugged nonchalantly, “I was just laughing at a crying baby!”

Zhou Huaijin smiled. He took hold of Gu Chaoyan’s hand. “The lunch is ready, let’s go and eat it!”

Gu Chaoyan’s body stiffened. She hesitated a little whether she should get rid of his hand.

She was not used to being so close with someone, especially when she and Lord Huai were just cooperative partners.

As she thought about cooperation, Gu Chaoyan withdrew her hands. “We are just cooperative partners, so we don’t have to do this here in your mansion, do we?”

“What did you just say?!” Zhou Huaijin’s expression became serious, as the air around them cooled down.
