In Capital City…

Shao Yibai’s expression was dark as he sat on the sofa in the living room and met his parents’ gazes with the indifference and cruelty of a miserable man.

Within a few short years, he had changed from a kind-hearted and considerate man of steel into Capital City’s most popular playboy today. Shao Jingshan noticed this, but he protected his son without batting an eyelid.

Shao Yibai’s eyes were bloodshot, and his heart was growing colder by the second.

He was informed that Su Qingcheng had left Luo Hai with her son. She had completely vanished without a trace.

This time, Shao Yibai did not search for her frantically as he previously did when she left Capital City. Instead, he sat quietly at home and spent the entire night smoking cigarettes. It seemed as though he had aged several years.

When Shao Jingshan heard that Su Qingcheng had disappeared from Luo Hai, he knew that his wife had played a part in this. The man sighed and continued defending his wife in front of his son.

“Father, I’m not trying to criticize the both of you harshly.”

Shao Yibai interrupted his father. Nonetheless, his father was a fair man who would usually acknowledged it when his wife was either right or wrong. In terms of respectable men, Shao Yibai ranked his father at the top.

Nevertheless, Shao Jingshan had forgotten that Shao Yibai was similar to him because he was his son. Shao Jingshan was bound to defend his wife. Likewise, Shao Yibai also wanted to spend his life loving and protecting someone else. Unfortunately, this right was stripped from him again.

“I wanted to tell both of you today that I won’t get married and have a child for the rest of my life. I hope that you’ll respect my decision!”

Shao Yibai’s voice sounded dull and hollow, but he was actually incomparably resolute.

The man ordered several drinks on his own with misty eyes. He had not drank a lot of alcohol, but he was terribly drunk.

He replayed the memories of his life throughout his mind. Suddenly, he realized that although he was blessed with many things, he lost a lot of them as well. In the end, he was left with absolutely nothing. He was all alone in the world.

The woman who sat opposite him sighed quietly. Wei Hongmian had spent many years being entangled with him, but she never imagined that Shao Yibai would be so infatuated with that woman. She reached out and snatched the bottle of alcohol from Shao Yibai. The man was extremely amused by her annoyed expression.

“Wei Hongmian, are you done?” Shao Yibai reached over and snatched the bottle from her. He nearly fell face down on the floor because of how unsteady he was.

Wei Hongmian stretched her arms out and steadied him. She quietly rebuked, “You haven’t given up yet?”

“I give up! I give up this time…” Shao Yibai’s smile was bewitching, but it also looked psychophatic.

The rims of Wei Hongmian’s eyes were red. She sounded slightly emotional when she asked, “Have you really given up?”

“Yes!” Shao Yibai nodded. His handsome face was slightly flushed. “Since I’ve given up on women, I’ll never find any of them attractive ever again. I won’t let them get close to me…”

Wei Hongmian’s body continued to tremble. She debated whether she should speak or not. Finally, her face was filled with remorse as she opened her mouth and muttered, “Yibai, about your premarital health examination report, I… I did something to it…”

Wei Hongmian noticed that the man’s bright eyes were filled with burning rage when he raised his head abrptly. She was so afraid of him she could not continue her speech. Shao Yibai resembled a demon when he gritted his teeth and demanded, “What did you say?”

“I was madly in love with you at that time, so I bribed the doctor who did the premarital health examination… I didn’t know that you were so infatuated with her…”

Wei Hongmian sobbed noisily, but Shao Yibai did not pity her at all. He leaped up from his seat. “You’re a selfish woman! Xiaodai was so kind. How could you…”
