Chapter 169 - Ren Suo Wants To Sell His Intelligence Information Again
Chapter 169: Chapter 169 – Ren Suo Wants To Sell His Intelligence Information Again
Ren Suo now understood how to play the ‘game’.
The death of ‘Dragon King, Gu Shenwei’ was almost inevitable. Even if the corrupt twin enhanced the character it disguised as to be the strongest character in the entire game, it was still impossible to win the fire weapons Ren Suo brought over from “Battlefield of Chaos”
It was not that the martial arts in the game were incomparable, but that there were no guns at all in the game. As such, all of the martial arts did not have the attributes of “dodging bullets” and “resisting bullets”.
At maximum speed, the character was set to not leave footsteps on snow, and not to be faster than bullets.
At maximum defense, the character was set to not be impaled by knives and spears, and not to be impenetrable by bullets.
Without a corresponding item in the game, the battle between Irina and the corrupt twin turned into a confrontation based upon reality and the source data of the two parties.
Although the source data of the corrupt twin was peaking at present, the effect of ‘modifying reality’ could not be achieved, and it was still blasted by the firearms brought over to the game by Irina.
When ‘Dragon King, Gu Shenwei’ died, many of the red pixels, which appeared on his character, disappeared.
Irina: [The corrupt twin lost some of her source data. Currently, the corrupt twin owns 58% of the source data, and Irina owns 50% of the source data.”
[The corrupt twin has left this server.]
Ren Suo was still not relieved. A woman in a green dress suddenly appeared on the screen, and the next second, she appeared in front of the female character who was holding the assault rifle. Then, she killed the female character with a sword!
After defeating ‘Dragon King, Gu Shenwei’, Ren Suo was just about to relax when that happened. He had not expected it at all as he watched himself being thrown out of the game. Irina’s character who was in the jeep previously had long been blasted into pieces in the explosion caused by ‘Dragon King, Gu Shenwei’.
Irina: [Stitching data has been lost.]
Ren Suo blinked and asked: [Is the source data not lost?]
Irina: [Source data will only be lost if the stitching data my supreme and great lord possess is lost in the same server where the corrupt twin is residing in. At other times, only the stitching data will be lost.]
That was really fortunate and Ren Suo calmed down. Excited, he asked immediately: [Where is the corrupt twin now?]
Ren Suo was already hooked on such overpowering gameplay where he would make use of characters from one game to infiltrate and invade another—
In terms of technology, anything within the firing range of the firearms could be destroyed;
In terms of martial arts, anyone within five steps is an enemy;
In terms of magic, well, there was the possibility of humanoid nuclear bombs.
Ren Suo already could not wait to try out other tactics, but Irina replied: [The corrupt twin is currently in hiding, and some time is needed to locate her.]
Naturally, Ren Suo could not do anything but to wait. He looked at the time and realized that it was still early, so he planned to make use of the afternoon to complete his work assigned by the Countermeasure Division.
However, he suddenly remembered about the NPC who killed his character in the instance mission of “Six Reincarnations” at the end and went online to search for details of the instance mission on the official website of “Fate of the Century” Jiayuan.com.
It turned out that after the final boss ‘Dragon King, Gu Shenwei’ was killed, a super-assassin named ‘Huo Yun’ would always appear and kill the character in the team with the least amount of HP.
If the players knew about the fact in advance, they could kill ‘Huo Yun’ while protecting the character with the least amount of HP left. “Huo Yun” was not considered a boss and only had very little HP, so she would die in one or two hits.
It would have been extremely dangerous if she appeared during the boss battle, but she only appeared after the boss died, so she was just an ordinary trap.
Nonetheless, as Ren Suo was searching for information on “Fate of the Century”, he suddenly came across a post in the game’s forum:
“Shocking appearance of the jeep and the light machine gun in ‘Traversing Dreams of Heaven’ server! Legendary and undefeatable plugin!”
Ren Suo was stunned and clicked in to read.
The original post author wrote: “I was waiting to form a random team at the entrance to the instance mission ‘Six Reincarnations’ this afternoon when I unexpectedly saw a jeep equipped with a light machine gun charging over! It knocked down more than a dozen players who were riding on horses along the way and shot and killed dozens of more players who were hanging around the entrance of the instance mission. The style of the jeep and machine gun was completely different from that of Fate of the Century…”

The second commenter wrote: “Whoever believes that is a silly dork! How can that happen? Having the strongest armor and being undefeatable is the most that could happen.”
The third commenter wrote: “Who would believe you without a video? The picture is not even the same style as the original game, aren’t your photoshop skills too poor?”
…
The ninth commenter wrote: “I can testify that the OP is telling the truth, I am the Huajian who was killed by the jeep! (Picture here)”
The tenth commenter wrote: “I can testify that the OP is telling the truth, I am the Chunyang who was killed by the jeep! (50 cents per post, this segment was deleted when copied)”
From the thread, it was evident that most people did not believe what the original post said. There were occasionally some people who came out to testify that the original post was true, but were immediately accused as ghostwriters that were part of the internet water army. Later on, however, many of the comments were simply copy and pasted from earlier comments and the entire thread quickly became a boring thread flooded with useless comments.
Ren Suo was stunned and searched online, but did not find any related videos.
If what the post said was true, then all of what Ren Suo had done—controlling a jeep to invade “Fate of the Century” and killing dozens of players in the game—had already turned into reality.
It was only because the jeep only appeared for a very short amount of time and the players did not record a video in time that there were no related videos online at present, and there were only screenshots from players who wanted to boast.
The question was, how did all the events in the game turn into reality so quickly?
According to the game introduction, there should be a mission score and evaluation for “Endless Intrusion”, which naturally meant that there was a round of ‘uploading the mission score’. Based on what Ren Suo experienced thus far, the gameplay usually turned into reality only after uploading the mission score.
Ren Suo frowned as he pondered. At present, the only game which turned into reality without uploading any mission score was “Passing Hats”—but ‘Naisser Ren’ did not upload any corresponding video as yet, so Ren Suo also did not know whether the game had turned into reality.
“What do ‘Passing Hats’ and ‘Endless Intrusion’ have in common? How are they different from the other games?”
Ren Suo thought for a long time, and finally had one or two guesses, but he put those thoughts aside as he could not confirm them.
In any case, however, “Endless Intrusion” was an ordinary game, and there should be a video posted after he uploaded the mission score. When that happened, Ren Suo should be able to confirm his speculations.
Nonetheless, Ren Suo could do something with that information now…
Ren Suo quickly navigated to the intranet and uploaded the post he found from the “Fate of the Century” forum as “Suspicious Content” to the database in the “Extraordinary Phenomena” section.
The posts in that database could only be viewed but not discussed, and there were many new ‘extraordinary phenomena’ happenings posted in the database.
The database was established as not every extraordinary phenomenon needed to be discussed, although researchers needed to have sufficient information to make extrapolations and speculations.
There were only two labels in the database: “suspicious” and “verified”. The former represented information which had not yet received official attention and had not been verified, while the latter meant that the information was officially verified and essentially described true information.
The “suspicious” information in the database was updated almost every minute, and the content ranged from “suspected carrier of the system” to “suspected time traveler from ancient times”. Ren Suo would also browse through the database occasionally to kill time; his knowledge was lacking in more ways than one.
In theory, as long as the information was provided by the researcher, Xuan Nation would allocate resources to investigate them. However, human resources were limited, so the information provided by the senior researchers would naturally receive more attention.
However, if the information provided by a researcher had not yet been verified when related events occurred, Xuan Nation would compensate the researcher for his passion and vision by giving the researcher more researcher points.
I suppose everyone reading this would have discovered Ren Suo’s evil intentions by now: As a ‘maker of information’, he wants to sell his knowledge again.
If all went well and Ren Suo’s plan was successful, the research paper he was tasked to do by the Countermeasure Division could be considered done.
At that juncture, a bell sounded from the television in the living room, and Irina’s voice was heard:
[The location of the corrupt twin has been found.]
