Chapter 210: It was worth it.

Noah and Carlos stood with their mouths open in complete amazement as the two looked at a peculiar scene in front of them. Some of Carlos' excitement about receiving a Blessing even disappeared momentarily when he saw the strange scene that was happening in front of them.

This Fortress was a savannah filled with mutant hyenas. These monsters had high speed and absurd ferocity. It didn't take long for Carlos to realize that his flames weren't doing as much damage as he imagined since the skill level was still very low and the monsters were much more resistant than the ability could withstand, because they were Rank E.

But among a group of hyenas, Maggy had a big smile on her face while a squirrel, rabbit, and small hamster made of fire were running between the hyenas and using their small fiery claws to cause great injury to the monsters.

With a cute smile that didn't match the current situation at all, Maggy was surrounded by two corpses of hyenas completely soaked with large wounds that exposed the organs of both of the hyenas as if it were a beautiful flower bed in her view.

Noah and Carlos didn't even know what to say. Those two small fire animals had a strength equivalent to Noah's imps while her skill was still at level 01. Meanwhile, Carlos didn't even know when he would be able to have a strength like that with the very flames he had.

In just over a minute all four hyenas died around Maggy and the three fire animals disappeared into the air as Maggy ran over to Noah with an excited smile on her face accompanied by an expression that screamed "praise me" toward her brother.

"That was amazing Maggy... Your control over fire is even better than mine when I received the skill... Congratulations, my princess!" Noah said excitedly, genuinely happy that his sister was able to be so powerful, which made him a lot less concerned about her safety since she would be able to protect herself in the future without relying so much on him.

"Hehe, the flames just followed my orders as I imagined. But my mana is out, Noah! Hihi," she said with a cute expression as she put her index finger on her cheek.

Hearing that, Noah had to laugh. He thought his sister was extremely powerful at the time, but apparently the price of having control as high as that over fire came with the cost of her mana apparently being a little lower. "Pffft... Haha, so I didn't expect that... You'll have to be careful with that; your mana is your most important resource in a Fortress. Now that you have no more mana, how are you going to hunt monsters to earn more Exp points?"

Listening, Maggy showed a hint of regret. As she had had no difficulty in killing those monsters, she still felt that it was like a video game where she would just kill the monsters and get points. But her mana was not regenerating as quickly as she expected.

Noah's biggest concern would be whether Maggy would adapt well to the carnage that took place inside a Fortress, but seeing how she didn't care about the monsters' corpses, he asked her out of curiosity, "Don't you care about those dead monsters? Don't you think that is disgusting?"

Hearing his question, Maggy got a little distracted and answered Noah naturally, "There are only a few dead monsters. I saw it so often in games with graphics as real as reality that for me, it's normal. Although I don't think it's cool and prefer cute pets, I don't mind seeing dead monsters... Well, maybe I do think it's a little cool to see them dying... " She said the last part in an extremely low voice.

'Video games are more useful than I imagined,' Noah thought as he remembered how much he had missed out on all this time.

"I'll give you a hint: when you burn a monster's corpse, you can recover their mana," Noah said before winking at Maggy a little dejectedly.

Hearing her brother's tip, Maggy perked up again and summoned a rabbit to "eat" the corpses with fire before summoning other various animals to eat the rest of the corpses after having enough mana to do so.

Carlos took advantage of the fact that Maggy was busy consuming the other corpses and ran to another group of hyenas to get some exp points for himself as well.

While looking at the two, Noah looked at a window that he had happily discovered after making his first contract with the imps.

Part of the Exp points that Carlos and Maggy earned went to Noah as well, that is, in addition to the imps he had, Carlos and Maggy had also become a form of "exp farm" that he now had available to him.

During the past few days after Noah killed his uncle, Noah had received over 1,000 exp points for doing nothing. These points had come only from the imps he had rented to the youths without Noah having to kill a single monster.

Gradually the system was becoming autonomous. Even though the amount of exp to level up was rising so quickly when he leveled up, the ways he had to gain exp were also increasing rapidly.

If he didn't have to give up part of his life force to give systems to others, Noah would even have considered making an army out of people with systems, but until he could solve that problem, that possibility would be sidelined.

Because of Maggy's efficiency and Carlos' pride in getting stronger quickly and not losing to a 12-year-old girl, the Fortress was cleaned up in no time.

Noah just stood aside and supported the two so that neither were seriously injured. He let Carlos and Maggy have a few minor injuries. Even though allowing his little sister to get hurt was hurting him more than it hurt her, he knew it had to be done so that she would lose the view that it was like a video game and continue to act nonchalantly.

This thought by Noah worked, since after getting a big scratch on his arm and feeling a little bit of pain, Maggy finally let go of the rampant stance and took a more cautious approach to dealing with the monsters.

When they dealt with the Boss, Maggy used her fire animals as the frontline and Carlos stayed on the backline acting like a long-range magician throwing fireballs.

Even though their ability was still level 01 and almost reaching level 02, their damage was still not high enough to deal with that Boss very quickly, extending the battle to more than 15 minutes.

In some moments Noah had to intervene to help the two, since they put themselves in situations where there was a high chance of dying a few times - both due to their inexperience and their strength, which was not yet very high.

If someone knew that two newly awakened Blessed had killed a Rank E Boss in just over 15 minutes, that person would probably go crazy, thinking that their life had been meaningless when compared to these two monsters.

If that person also knew that with these two monsters there was someone even more monstrous, who just a little more than a month after unlocking his Blessing had reached Rank C, the highest power in the city Eyrin, that person might have ended up dying of frustration.

As they left the Fortress, none of the three knew that what they did might disappoint many people, and as the government did not know about this Fortress, they received no monetary remuneration for destroying the Fortress.

Since none of the three needed money, no one cared, knowing that the experience they received was far more valuable than any amount of money they could receive when dealing with a Rank E Fortress.

After destroying the Fortress, Noah, Maggy and Carlos returned to Noah's red Aston Martin DBS and continued driving towards the remote store that the GPS was guiding them to buy swimwear to wear on the beach they were going to visit.

Carlos and Maggy didn't stop talking about their newfound powers for even a second after they killed the Boss.

Noah had a big satisfied smile when he saw them like this. You could say that the two were Noah's only family at the time. Seeing that his blood brother who had regretted not having enough strength in a world that mattered so much finally having that strength for himself was priceless to Noah, and seeing his little sister having fun and laughing with them exactly as she had done before she was hospitalized was even more rewarding.

Noah felt that even if he didn't find a way to recover his own spent lifespan, seeing them both this way was definitely worth it. For him, even if he died tomorrow, Noah was sure he would die satisfied. Although he still planned to dedicate himself to the maximum to try to find some way to prolong his own useful life.

'Maybe I can become like those powerful Blessed Ones who live for hundreds of years? Perhaps even for thousands of years? Who knows... If in less than two months with the system I have achieved so much, what might I be able to do in hundreds or thousands of years?' Noah wondered mentally as he drove and occasionally looked at his two excited family members beside him.
