Shen Xue stared at his brother for a moment. His lips began to curl into a knowing smile before he lost it and burst out laughing so hard that he almost fell on the floor. His older brother threw a cold glare on his direction as Xue continued to laugh at him.

“What so funny?” Shen Yi raised a brow.

“Bro, you’re whipped.” She Xue held his sides as his eyes well up with tears. He couldn’t stop himself from laughing out loud. He never thought that he will see a day when his cold and aloof brother will submit himself to a woman. Was Lu Xinyi able to wrap him around her finger with her cooking skills?

Ah, possible, Shen Xue thought. He might fall on the same scheme if a woman bribes him delicious foods. He stopped laughing and watched the women from afar that was busy talking to themselves.

Shen Yi made a non-committal sound.”You know sometimes I think you aren’t an idiot but you always disappoint me when you open your mouth and proves how wrong I was.”

“See? This is why I couldn’t believe Miss Lu will marry someone as rude and cruel like you. You bully your own brother.”

“She knows that,” Shen Yi’s eyes landed to his wife. She looked happy which what matters to him the most. “And yet she stays with me, what do you think it means?”

“Had I not met her, I would have assumed that she was one of those women who only seek you for your worth, but she’s different I can see that she deeply cares about you.”

Shen Xue was also nervous for tomorrow’s event. When his brother called their Grammie over the phone yesterday, he knew that Shen Yi was planning to introduce Lu Xinyi to their grandmother. There was still bad blood between the Sun and the Shen families.

This could be a massive headache he would have to deal later because whether their father or their Grammie approve Lu Xinyi or not, he will give his support to his only brother.

“Xiao Lan, I’m scared. What if I do something ridiculous tonight? Shen Yi might lose face because of me.” Lu Xinyi said while Xiao Lan got out the makeup she took from Lu Xinyi’s new makeup collection.

“You will be fine. I will be there with you. Now sit down and let’s get started,” Xiao Lan said with a grin. Lu Xinyi obeyed and sat down in front of her vanity and closed her eyes and let Xiao Lan began working her magic on her.

An hour later, Xiao Lan was done and thought that she did a pretty good job this time.

“You can open your eyes now, Xinyi,” she said, stepping away to get Lu Xinyi’s dress and shoes from the closet.

Lu Xinyi opened her eyes and blinked several times to make sure that the reflection of a woman in the mirror was really her.

“Is this really me?” Lu Xinyi couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Xiao Lan had powdered her face lightly, adding shadows to her eyelids to highlight her brown eyes. Her lips were the same shade as the dress she will wear for the event. Her curly hair was pinned on one side giving a good view on her neck and her shoulder. Overall, she looked stunning.

“Xiao Lan, thank you,” she said quietly while her eyes were glassy.

“No. No. No! You can’t do this to me, Xinyi. Please don’t ruin my masterpiece.” Xiao Lan took both of Lu Xinyi’s hands to hers. “I’m glad I met you. Where has Shen Yi hidden you all these time? We could’ve met earlier and do ridiculous things that could drive our husbands insane.” she joked.

Lu Xinyi calmed down and smiled at her new friend. She was glad that she was able to meet someone who wasn’t after her man or the Sun family.

“Now, go and change into this.” Xiao Lan gave her the dress and shoes before pushing her to the bathroom. “Go, our husbands are waiting for us downstairs.”

True to her words, Shen Yi was waiting with Wen Yong, Xiao Lan’s husband. They both turned to see Xiao Lan coming down the stairs slowly wearing her deep blue evening dress. Wen Yong met her at the bottom and gave her hand a kiss to greet her.

“Ready to go?” he said.

“Yes, and Shen Yi?” Xiao Lan turned to Shen Yi.

“Have fun tonight and I hope Grammie will see how wonderful woman you got as a wife,” she said, winking at him before leaving the Shen Yi’s home with her husband.

Shen Yi just shook his head and a small footstep on the top of the stairs alerted him to his wife’s presence. He casted his eyes upwards towards the descending woman, his eyes widening and his jaw slacking at the sight.

She was breathtaking. Shen Yi wondered how many times he could fall in love with her all over again as she slowly descended with careful steps. Her cheeks tinged red as she swallowed nervously. Her strapless dress interwoven with colors of pink and silver hugged her body perfectly. The silken and chiffon material flowing out behind her as she walked.

Shen Yi could only gawk at her. She was able to make him forget to breathe as his mouth went dry as he looked at her.

“If you don’t close your mouth, you’re going to catch a fly soon.” Lu Xinyi teased, already standing before him.

“Why? You’re absolutely beautiful tonight. Should I keep you by myself or let my grandmother know how lucky I am to have you?” he replied once he snapped out from his thoughts.
