An hour before…

Shen Xue flopped onto his already made bed, his hands behind his head as he stared blankly up at the white ceiling of the guest room. He had expected his brother to get mad at him and try to kick him out again from his home the moment he stepped inside the house. But what greeted him was a young woman clinging on his brother’s arm.

Being greeted by his grumpy brother wasn’t a surprise, but to find that someone else had been living with him and a woman that is, Shen Xue pondered if it was all but a farce. It wasn’t though she wasn’t pretty or glamorous like the socialite women that tried to flirt with his brother.

It was the fact that his brother was the one who looked attached and seeking her attention. Something that was clearly not usual for Shen Yi, the demon president of the Shen Group of Companies.

The room was still the same as he remembered but there were some new touches on it. It was clean and brighter, the adjoined bathroom was sparklingly clean. The fresh linens and towels prepared on his bed had surprised him.

Shen Xue wondered if his brother and his ‘wife’ were playing tricks on him. The thought that his aloof and cold brother having a wife still didn’t sit well on him. He didn’t want to believe that Lu Xinyi was after his brother’s wealth. She didn’t seem like that kind of woman also Shen Yi would surely reject her at once at the first sign of greed in her eyes and demeanor.

His body was a bit weary from making trips from his car up to the stairs and putting his things away. He had even set up his gaming station and tried to finish it before lunchtime but his stomach betrayed him when it growled too loud indicating its need to be feed again.

Forcing himself to get up, Shen Xue made his way to the kitchen. Looking around, he noticed that his brother’s house also changed. There were hints that a woman was living within the house making it livelier and homey. So far from the house that lost its warmth.

“Oh, hello. Are you hungry?”

Shen Xue turned his head and saw his sister-in-law standing over a stove with a smile on her face. Her eyes went back to the dish she was cooking, hand busy stirring a sauce over the low heat.

“So you’re the one making our lunch? Where’s Madam Jin?” Shen Xue asked incredulously. He had doubt earlier if she was the one who prepared their breakfast but he hadn’t seen Madam Jin since he arrived.

“Oh, she went to do some shopping for me. She said she might be back after lunch so I’m the one in charge for today.” Lu Xinyi replied.

“I thought my brother hired a personal chef or something. Sorry, I didn’t know he got married and you’re his wife.” Shen Xue admitted, shrugging his shoulders.

Lu Xinyi looked back to Shen Xue, an amused smile crossed her lips as she heard the doubt on his voice.

“Why do you think your brother married me then? You said he probably using me. Aren’t you afraid that it’s the other way around?”

Shen Xue’s jaws dropped for the umpteenth time. As he stared at his brother’s woman, he realized that she was slimmer and shorter. She didn’t have the massive chest he usually saw to other women who tried to seduce his brother. Lu Xinyi held her figure with modesty and elegance, her small frame complimenting the mischievous smile she usually had on her face.

What made his brother attracted to this woman was beyond his comprehension.

“Do you want something to eat while waiting for our lunch? It may take some time before I finish it.” Lu Xinyi asked softly, turning off the heat under the saucepan and replacing the lid on it.

“You got anything for me to eat?” Shen Xue’s mood brightened up from the mention of food, remembering his hunger.

Lu Xinyi tried to stifle her laughter. Shen Xue was just like her husband when it comes to food. He will always ask what they were having but his eyes betray his excitement. She made her way to the fridge and pulled out some cream puffs and chocolate eclairs she made earlier.
